Agreed! The tetra max checks all the boxes for Dan. It’s bomb proof like the spot hogg and the tetra max ryz is my favorite to date. The 4 pin tetra max slider seems to be what Dan is looking for with the ability to swap to a single pin for TAC.
@Bowman01 yes I had a question about a sight and got a reply from Chris Hamm who is the VP and he answered all my questions. I ended up buying the ryz down the road because of how much I liked the tetra, the tetra max is just that much better.
@Bowman01 I tried this sort of setup and it didnt work out.The green turned into a solid vertical bar. It was just took to long to try and pick out say 30 yd and 40 yd pins due to them being a blob of green. I switched to fl.red, fl.grn fl.orange and fl.grn.
1. You should absolutely go see Option Archery firsthand, given you know the guy...Great sights, built extremely well. Would love to learn more about them via Elkshape 2. I've been running a custom 4-pin MBG for the last two years and it's been the sweet spot on # of pins vs housing clarity. Yes, it took time and a tad more $ to custom order it, but it's exactly what I wanted....no red pins at all and bottom 2 pins were 0.10. I hunt elk and whitetail mainly. Durability over time is always what prompts me to get a new sight. I get a little "slop" in the MBG after a few hunting seasons. I plan to acquire/run a similar setup with a 4-pin UV scope....so I came to this vid for your insight on a few of the options I could mount the UV to...sounding like HHA might still be the ticket for that...
Dan, I don't elk hunt nor do I want to chase elk. I bow hunt whitetails and shoot 3d, however, I appreciate the information you provide. I find it thoughtful and wrought with experience which is the best kind of information. The "shape" part of your work helps in that I come west from Arkansas during spring turkey season and trek across the mountains of several states. Want you to know I appreciate you and your staff. Give MFJJ my regard and best wishes.
Yes go visit Dan Evans. I’d love to see a behind the scenes. I’ve been running his option 8 sights for year, I don’t understand why I don’t see more of his sights on hunters bows but you have to use the oval peep!
Awesome video, its always gold when you get all the boys together. The banter is best part! We’d absolutely love to see more of y’all picking on each other and getting into everyone’s business. And it would be great to see the tour and rundown on the Option sight. I’ve always be skeptical, but admittedly don’t know a whole lot about it.
The way you're sighting in is called Maximum Point-Blank Range (MPBR). That's how I've been sighting in my firearms. I'm doing the same with my bow for 2023 elk once I decide on the new bow my wife is getting me for Christmas (God bless that woman).
The dog bow shopping in the background was pretty awesome. That said, appreciate the vulnerability by sharing failures to help everyone improve their game. Totally agree that in the moment of truth, having too many things to do is detrimental to success., Can you explain the “wiener in the hallway” analogy please JJ?
There should be way more talk about Option Sights. Such a cool company. Easily the one sight to do it all. They are cool as hell and easy to work with. Seems sunk in reviews for an unknown reason.
Hi Dan, Really enjoy all your content. Very well edited, always informative, interesting. On your handheld release, which I run too. My solution is to run a cord through the hole in the release, then run the cord around my neck incorporated into my FHF bino harness. I keep the release in the pouch on the back of the harness. I make sure I have enough length in the cord to accomadate stalking, extra clothing ect. Your hands are free, warm, the release is easy to access and most importantly ...you CAN"T lose it. As long as you don't forget your Binos/ranefinder...which you won't! Keep up the good work Buddy.
I’ve been kicking around trying out an option archery sight. I think you should pay cuz a visit. Also, quick thought while watching this video. Would it make more sense to set your top pin at the “sweet spot” distance and do 10 yard increments from there? Seems like you could get around 15 more yards out of your pins by doing that, plus you’re not guessing at gap distance all the way out to about 35 yards. You could do top pin at the sweet spot of 25 and use it out to 35, then go 45, 55, and 65 for your next 3 pins. Just a thought….
Funny how we always revert. Bought a Black Gold single pin and loved it. Loved it until I went out on a hunt. Came back and put on a three pin head. It was better but I still was not comfortable with it. Put a react pro seven pin on and used that this last year. Pulled it back off and order two more pins to convert the Black Gold to a five pin slider. For many of the same reasons. I love elk hunting. When they move in or pressure is on you need distance and consistency. Having the option to get out to sixty or fifty with no sight movement is optimal in my own opinion. Keep grinding glad to see someone else out there always looking to be ready
I have been a Spot Hogg guy for a long time. I used a Hunter Hogg It fixed 5-pin sight for hunting and a Fast Eddie double pin for TAC. I put the Mathews branded Bridge-Lock fixed 5-pin sight made by Axcel on my Mathews V3X 29 and love it.
Dawg pro tip!! I run a 4 pin slider, 20,30,40,50 yards but the the top of my bubble sight is 60. So it’s like having 5 pins but with a clearer sight picture. The 50 yard pin is the slider, it’s pretty dope
One thing that stuck out to me about the issues you had with your 2 pin sight was that you always had it dialed to a different yardage when hiking around. Is that intentional based on the terrain your hunting? I also use a 2 pin slider and always have it set at home base with 20 yard top pin and 35 yard second pin. That way i know if it’s further I need to aim high with my 35 pin or range and dial. I have also been looking at changing my release to a wrist because of the issues you had in the rain and snow. My hands also get cold pretty fast. Thanks for the video!
Wondering the same...sounds like he had it set up perfect for the situations he mentioned just had it set on some other yardage for some reason. I love the dual Trac but to each their own
Awesome stuff guys, definitely agree with the change your planning Dan, I been running 3 pin blackgold and found it worked great, set 30,40,50 and tops only 2 inch high at 20.and I do like index release its always there ready to go and fast to get on the loop, look forward to seeing whT u go with bud
I’ve been rocking the fast Eddie XL for a couple seasons now! It was a 5 pin before I did surgery to bring it down to 4! Funny you should mention a 4 pin slider Dan!
Very helpful video I been thinking about checking in on a new sight for my bow. I need to go check out Spokane valley archery. I always went to the bow shop in Chewelah wa. But it closed and now we don’t have a bow shop up north of Spokane
Have to agree with "VANCE". I did the fixed pins, I did the 5 pin black gold slider, I did the black gold single pin (mistake), and I ultimately settled on the black gold 3 pin slider set at 30 40 50. My set up shot 4 inches high at 20 and it worked extremely well for me where/how I hunt. Just my suggestion to try out...ABT!
One of your better videos. Can’t wait until we see you trying other releases video. I learned years ago to build a setup that will use a 4” diameter hit or smaller with the pin gap. 26-33-41.
Well I think I've been on the right track. Running a 3-pin MBG slider with a Stan Xtinction 2. If I could change anything it'd be the pin configuration. I just have the standard .019 green, yellow, red for my pins. I'd probably want .010 pins all around in a green, yellow, green configuration. Dual indicator would allow you to shoot the top or bottom as the slider.
It’d be interesting to see you do a simple bow set up. Like just a five pin fixed just front stabilizer and an index release. And just to see your thoughts on that for hunting everything
Late to the party but I switched back to a wrist rocket last summer and the Carter like mike single caliper was what I ended up with. When you have the ball bearing installed the trigger becomes super heavy
On the Landslyde Josh mentioned you need the offset bracket for BridgeLock...is it only because the 3 pin is a 41mm scope? I have the AV-31 and the UV3 and both of those are 31mm and the built in extra drillings near the second axis of the Landslyde allows enough offset on my X29's.
I shoot a 4 pin hha Tetra slider sight. And i think 4 pins for me is the sweet spot. Still gives me a good sight picture while having versatile pins for different yardages. I can shoot 20-50 yards if im whitetail hunting or i can scroll out and shoot 50-80 yards if im out west. Works for me as a do it all sight.
Have you looked into getting a kydek holster for your thumb release. I have one for my wise choice made by AJB holsters, very secure and quiet in and out. I highly recommend it to anyone. Never lose a handheld release again.
You guys def should go talk to Dan with option archery. Curious to get your take on their oval shaped sight. Seems like it covers what you are looking for features wise Thanks for the informative content.
So for me I love the axcel accutouch carbon pro av41. The sight adjustment head is beefy enough without a ton of sometimes unnecessary weight. I too prefer a 4 pin housing. I will take a 5 pin housing and pull the bottom pin out. Switch the fiber to black golds green fiber "really is the brightest". I then have a 4 pin fixed set at 20, 30, 40, and 50. Set the bottom pin as my slider. I find that the 5 pin is just too crowded when shit gets rushed
So this one just came into my feed today... I am trying to figure out which B3 sight that is. I currently have an Axcel Accuvue AV31, and since I am now using a V3X series I had to fabricate a mount to get the additional windage (everyone was sold out of the actual part at the time) which has been OK. However, was thinking of changing over to something different this year and like the sliders since I shoot more recreational/field than I really get to hunt with mine (in Ohio, so range isn't a real factor). Thx in advance! Keep up the great work and info!
Dan! Can you please do some honest work with the EzV sight this year and give some feedback on it? You are already practising a vertical pin gap, why not just use a horizontal ‘pin gap’ all the time?
Hi Dan, great content as always. Awhile back you tested out the Dialed Arxos. How did you feel about that site? Of course now They now have the three pin.
Man check out the new UV 3 pin! The ability to swap back and forth with the single pin cartridge with no change in your indicator or sight at all is awesome for your needs!
I got a landslyde a year and a half ago. I remember it taking 6 months or more and I had my archery shop call them a few times for an update lol. Good sight though.
It's often mentioned that you need the offset to run the Axcel Landslyde on a Mathews bow using the bridgelock mount. I have the 3 pin on my V3X-29 and didn't need the offset. Did I just get lucky?
Awesome video buddy great stuff ! If only u guys where a drive away not a 8-1/ hour flight and xxxxx amount of hours drive I’d pop down but keep it coming bois great stuff 🏹🏹🏹🏹
Yo! I run a black gold 5 pin, but I dropped the fifth pin behind the level bubble. This gives me what I like in the four pin set up and the level bubble is an easy check up, I look down and see a red dot and I’m good to go. Just a thought as you run fixed pins.
I'm surprised you don't have the Trophy Ridge React Pro sights in your line up. It's hard to beat the convenience of that react technology when sighting in. .
I've used most of those sights besides the b3 but one sight I was highly recommend taking a look at is hha they seem to be the strongest sight I've used with the brightest pins I love black gold as a close second but one thing I've noticed with black gold axcel cbe is I end up getting a vibration in the slider they just always seem to get play in them
Great video, 25,35,45,55,65 mbg 5 pin slider. 0-25 yards my setup is less than 2 inches different. Most animals come in closer to the 5s 7 times out of 10.
I heard you mention picking which pin will be the floater on a five pin slider. Can smaller housing five pin sliders utilize the top or middle pin as the floater? Are there good fiber optics to keep the .010 pins bright and illuminated in lower light?
I was in SVA on Saturday and got my new Phase 4 33 set up! I was hoping to buy the CBE Trek Pro there but they didn't carry it so I had to order it elsewhere. Possible addition to the shop?
So I’m building some hunting arrows and I shoot a 350 spine RIP TKO, curious what the inserts are that you guys use. I desperately don’t want to use the stock aluminum ones.
I have a 4 pin fixed now and want to go to a 3 pin slider to get rid of one pin from my sight picture. My pin gaps are so tight i just need to do that. Looking at the black gold accent verdict to do that. 3rd pin would be the slide.
I switched from a 5 pin to a 2 pin for the pretty much the same reason you're going from a 2 pin to a 3-5 pin. Had a bull come in at 52 yards, picked the wrong pin and the arrow went under him. I hunt Arizona public lands which covers a wide variety of different terrains with the majority of hunts being a spot and stalk. Should have known better but made a mistake. I've known too many people who have made that same mistake as well with cluttered pins, which is why I swapped to a vertical 2 pin. Not saying what you are doing is wrong by any means, you do what you think is going to best help your situation, I just find it amusing that we can have very similar experiences yet our solutions be complete opposites of each other.
I have all the same concerns.... I'm running a very old spot hog 5 pin and my little Allen's are starting to become worn out and I've been looking into a slider two pin but I can't commit to it because it adds extra shit to my brake down of taking the shot.... I'm looking hard at what you talked about in regards to a custom 4-pin slider.
My eyes unfortunately just don't do well with side post pins when there is more than 3 so I run a tripple stack fast eddie currently even if its a heavy SoB. Have considered the UV3XL tripple pin though to lighten the load but still not sure on it yet
I use a ez v sight cause I had all the same issues but people that aren't consistent it isn't good for but was wondering if you have tried it before or is the margin of error to much?
I bought my Landslide from Josh I have one complaint about Excel landslide your elevation knob there's not enough room your hand finger gets touched up against the windage now really tight and then the first second and third access I wish was made more like black gold cuz it's just a free float so you break them loose and you got a really like finesse
It would be cool to see the HHA Tetra Max added to the list of possibilities. Maybe a review? Works perfect with Mathews Bridgelock
Agreed! The tetra max checks all the boxes for Dan. It’s bomb proof like the spot hogg and the tetra max ryz is my favorite to date. The 4 pin tetra max slider seems to be what Dan is looking for with the ability to swap to a single pin for TAC.
I agree I have a 4 pin tetra tournament
@Bowman01 yes I had a question about a sight and got a reply from Chris Hamm who is the VP and he answered all my questions. I ended up buying the ryz down the road because of how much I liked the tetra, the tetra max is just that much better.

Best V3x sight talking points and options video out there !!!

You definitely got to see Mr. Dan Evans since he hasn’t come on the podcast. Plus his trophy room is epic with those bulls. Go to Montana Dan!

just switched from the black gold to the axcel landslide and man is that sight amazing.
Yes! Please visit option archery. Would love to learn more about them and their products.
Thank you for sharing. After catching myself forgetting to re set my single pin I decided to go fixed pin - keep it simple….
Thanks for the video. I missed an elk because i forgot to move my slider this year. I am switching sights as well.
Just bought my AAE Bitz Knock Receiver upgrade. Never knew it existed until your video the other day. Thanks!!
Love this episode great learning about all the different bows sight and for helping me pick a sight for my bow

Great video. Thanks for sharing your insight. Also seems like your lighting is dialled in now with the new space.

Great Vid guys, good breakdown of the pros and cons to multipins and sliders. Great content, keep it up!
I’ve been shooting a B3 Hawk this year - really pleased with it.
What's the over / under on Dan running a 4x lens at TAC? 🤣
I'd love to see HHA in the mix also. Keep tinkering!
Guys! I love your intro's....very few repeats! Keep up the great work 🇺🇸👍🏻🦌
Appreciate you guys!
Definitely go see option sights!
Wow what a great video! Love your content. You’re a gear junky, I like that. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
I picked up the B3 slider because the Landslyde was impossible to find. Nice bridgelock fit and integration, great quality, made in USA, good price.
Have to agree with "VANCE". I did the fixed pins, I did the 5 pin black gold slider, I did the black gold single pin (mistake), and I ultimately settled on the black gold 3 pin slider set at 30 40 50.
Have you looked at Dan Evans custom sight built for elk hunting???
It’d be interesting to see you do a simple bow set up. Like just a five pin fixed just front stabilizer and an index release. And just to see your thoughts on that for hunting everything
Late to the party but I switched back to a wrist rocket last summer and the Carter like mike single caliper was what I ended up with. When you have the ball bearing installed the trigger becomes super heavy
Always learning! Thanks guys for the best archery content out there!
Thank you so much 🙏
Yes make a video visiting option archery.
Noted
Try using a release bag for hunting . I been hunting with a hinge for the past 20 years. It's much easier than your pocket.
Awesome video guys. Another index release that i use and like alot would be the trufire hard core, especially if you like the hook style release.

Have you looked into getting a kydek holster for your thumb release. I have one for my wise choice made by AJB holsters, very secure and quiet in and out. I highly recommend it to anyone. Never lose a handheld release again.
I usually rock a mohawk during archery season. I also use the trophy ridge react 5 pin. It's an amazing site.
Luv it! Great vid as usual!🏹😘😊
Great video. What release were you going to buy? Tried to zoom in but couldn't get it. Thanks
You guys def should go talk to Dan with option archery. Curious to get your take on their oval shaped sight. Seems like it covers what you are looking for features wise Thanks for the informative content.

Definitely think you should visit Dan Evans at option archery.
That laugh was the best 😂 It’d be sweet to see that Scott ghost release or a couple from Scott ( if that’s possible)
HHA has a nice 4 pin slider I’m surprised you haven’t checked that out seems like it would be perfect for your needs
Hearing more about HHA recently
I'm running the HHA Tetra RYZ on my V3X 33 and I love it.
100 percent thanks for the information and knowledge love the videos
Things happen fast when you party with elk - if that’s not a shirt it needs to be :)

Option 6 here love it
What bout the redline sights what are your thoughts on them I have one and I love it
I have a 4 pin for 20, 30, 40 and my 4th pin is 50 and can movie it to 60 and probably farther if i need to haven't needed to love the set up
So have you thought about dialed archery three pin slider?
Review coming next week
I was in SVA on Saturday and got my new Phase 4 33 set up! I was hoping to buy the CBE Trek Pro there but they didn't carry it so I had to order it elsewhere. Possible addition to the shop?
Awesome video! I shoot that option 8 sight that oval I can shoot up to a 100 yards been very happy with it.
Great video thanks Dan
I run truball beast with heavy spring. Hook style. 1 on each bow to make sure primary and secondary get broke in
I think you should have HHA in the mix!! Outstanding sight!
100% go talk with Dan at option archery!
Just picked up another HHA Tetra. Gonna run a 4 pin slider. I'm done with single/double pins.
Pay Attention Peeps! These men are awesome at tinkering! Lots to learn.
Definitely have a chat with Option!!
Take a look at a Stan Solex index release. Very well made and has become my favorite.
Yes let’s go see Dan Evans!
I use a ez v sight cause I had all the same issues but people that aren't consistent it isn't good for but was wondering if you have tried it before or is the margin of error to much?
Thank you.
Also like to see your opion on new torch from redline
I bought my Landslide from Josh I have one complaint about Excel landslide your elevation knob there's not enough room your hand finger gets touched up against the windage now really tight and then the first second and third access I wish was made more like black gold cuz it's just a free float so you break them loose and you got a really like finesse
