Love the interviews! One I would highly recommend trying to get is one with Rick Erickson from the Seattle area. He toured with Heart in the 70s? 80s? (Also built the famous “Barracuda” flange) and was a big presence in the amp tech community around the turn of the decade (he was a virtual mentor of sorts to myself among others), and he still has Erickson Audio. For those of us who know and/or know of him, we have nothing but the utmost respect for him. Would be great for others to have the honor and privilege of getting to know of him.

John is a great guy. Did a fret job on my ‘67 Telecaster maybe 30 years ago. Still playing great!

Around 2003 I brought my Ramirez 2CWE to Wescott with a broken neck. He fixed it and all has been well since then. John is well respected in the community.

Great interview! I always enjoy stories written by life itself. I’m not really a fan of transistor amplifiers either. I think it’s wonderful that there are craftsmen who breathe new life into old technology.

Dig the Lindley shirt; these were sold by David's friend, music promoter Doug Reynolds, through Custom Ink as part of a donation drive to defray medical expenses for the Lindley family (I bought two of them myself). He was unique, a musical wonder, a genius, an iconoclast, a One of One! An "other-planet" kind of guy, as Cooder would put it.

@george-st-george , I saw Lindley and El Rayo-X play a handful of times, as well as with Ry, and Wally or Hani. I was privileged to have gotten to meet and speak with David at a gig once; I had a pair of teenagers with me who were budding musicians, and Dave and Wally gifted the kids with picks, drumsticks, snare brushes and autographs. He was a kind and generous soul, as those who knew him well can attest. I hope his family is doing okay.

@george-st-george , A loose memorial concert and celebration of life was held in honor of David at the Claremont FolkMusic center after he passed. Some of it was filmed and posted on the Krysia Lamore channel, where Ben Harper, The Casual Girls, former members of ElRayo-X, and others spoke about how David encouraged and mentored them (as a kid, Harper, and the Girls, often hung out with Dave's daughter Roseanne at the family home).

@george-st-george , Wow! You go way back with Lindley! I'm 67 and live in New England so I never saw Kaleidoscope and obviously never went to the Topanga Canyon contest where Lindley won 5 years in a row and was barred from further competition!

Santa Monica is where Ry Cooder lives, and McCabe's Music has been there since 1958. Did John work at McCabe's? Besides selling and repairing instruments, they have a performance venue; a lot of fine musicians have played there, such as Richard Thompson, who met his 2nd wife there. Unfortunately, I live in New England and have never been to McCabes....

John Wescott here... I worked at John Carruthers, not McCabe's. But I've seen more than a few shows there, most recently my clients Rick Holmstrom and Henri Cash in separate headlining gigs
