Peggy, you have provided the type of beading experience I have been looking for. The design, to the tangs, to the tapestry is unlike so much on the web. In this one video, I have learned more than any other internet site I searched. I do not want to make jewelry but incorporate the beading into my art. Thank you.
I'm new to bead weaving and have been viewing multiple video learning how. Your video is by far the best I have viewed! Your step by step instruction on a project makes so much more sense than just a few strands for a bracelet! Your incorporation of bars and "found objects" really opens one mind to the endless possibilities of beadwork. You answered so many questions that was floating in my head, some I didn't even know I had. Thank you, thank you , thank you.
this is a far cry from any loom I have ever seen available, and you are a true craftsperson and very detailed information. I am very impressed. My eyesight and general lack of what this takes makes me an admirer of what you do and know I will only use this as a general idea of what is possible on a much smaller scale. I thank you for your video.
You are Absolutely Amazing! I was simply fascinated by your whole process! You have the patience of a saint and are a true artist. It was a pleasure to watch you work.
That was so darn cool. I've never seen a bead loom project that size and with such wonderful details/ Thank you so v much for sharing you inspiration, skill and talent with us. You determination and patience with this work is a wonder. Moment after moment bead after bead, I make beaded jewelry but nothing close to 95 beads wide. The finished product was amazing. I feel inspired (but not to follow in your steps) lol peace,..
when I started watching I thought, "this is something I would like to try" it wasn't long that I realized that this was way out of my reach! love your work, you are a true artist!
Thanks Sue B-T. You can try starting with a small Indian bead loom which you can get in craft stores and online. It is a very simple, inexpensive tool and simple technique. It's worth exploring!
Seeing this artistic achievement gives me a similar feeling to the one I had when I learned how a baby is conceived, develops in the womb, and is born. It’s like a miracle you cannot believe turns out right. God is the ultimate artistic creator, but some artists appear godlike in their seemingly miraculous creations. Thank you for sharing!
This is amazing!!!! I love beading and everything to do with it. I have never seen anything quite like this yet. I find it inspiring. Thank you for recording this step by step. You made it so easy to understand. Of course you made it look way too easy also :) Thank you for sharing!!!
It doesn't seem like that piece is 9 x 12. It turned out beautifully. And the detail was on point. A mosaic of beads carefully chosen. I would have probably lost count and had to begin again. Lol. I am happy she shared it. Very informative. I will always have this video as a reference. I just purchased my first beading loom and anxious to get started. In the mean time, while I'm waiting on my beads to arrive, I'm planning out designs. Now, I'm wondering, if a print shop could transfer an image to graph paper. I have some drawings that I can have transferred to graph paper, without redrawing the image 😊. Which isn't a big deal. But if it's a time saver, is an awesome good idea to consider. Inspiring!
I've been thinking about how to go larger, since my printer is only 8.5 by 11. I would definitely go to a print shop. not sure if they have graphing capability but you can always draw a graph onto a large print, just takes patience.
Thank you so much for sharing your process. I work in multiple mediums and most recently have gone back to bead weaving. I really love my variety but been doubting my approach. Checked out your website and all the wonderful photos of your work, and came back to thank you for doing what you do. You've reinspired my creative heart that I'm doing just as I'm meant to do. Your talent is refreshing and wonderful to see!
I enjoyed watching your video, and I love your art! I taught myself how to weave, and I prefer to work backwards (bottom up, left to right). I have used yarn/string in my pieces, but I never thought to use metal (cool idea)! As for mounting, I cheat. I go to the frame shop/hobby store and have them do it for me. The one thing I was hoping to see is an alternative way to finishing (since I have to do that). I hate knotting at the end...and as for weaving the ends back into the piece...well that is even worse. It's funny that I have the patience for the weaving, but not for the finishing. My biggest piece so far is 18" x 18" (55,100 size 11/0 beads). I wasn't happy when I got to the end... I do, however, like the way you knotted your project...I guess there is no way to avoid it... Darn! :) Please do tell me where you got your loom. I have several looms (my addiction), but I like the one you have...as well as your warping board. Thank you in advance.
Oh my gosh! That round dowel inside the springs- to hold down the threads- idea is going to save my life from now on with how many frustrating times I've had with that popping out & moving around on me happening! That.....right there....was the most brilliant idea for loom work/bead weaving ever! Oh gosh.....thank u for that! I feel like so much relief has just swept over me because of that tip! (Threads popping up is a major problem for me- can u tell?😉) Thank u, thank u, thank u!
Wow, just wow!!!! Lady you are magnificent!!!!!!! This is just plain gorgeous. I just can't believe how you did this, the patience, the artistic eyes, and hands you have. Your the best.!!!!!
Brilliant. This is a fabulous idea, and a beautifully executed project (it reminds me of a Warhol). I cannot wait to try this in a project using some of my own artwork. Thank you for being so generous and sharing this very clever technique.
Wow...thats beautiful....its lot of hard work...Im amazed to see how you did it....so much patience and dedication....hats off to you....just beautiful.
I'm currently in the process of learning how to weave, which lead me to your videos. But between seeing this video and going through your Flickr, I have to say that I LOVE your work. It's so freaking good and inspiring. I hope that I can eventually make art just as good one day. Thank you!
Wow..ran across your video by mistake..but maybe it was meant to be...I have so many ideas in my head art wise that I want to get out and in bead form...and u have just awakened me more with inspiration esp with just the words displayed above lips. Awesome talent. Thanks for sharing ur spirit....p.s could u go over again how u did the image to the bead graph? Looks alot easier than just using beadtool haha
I’d like to see how you do this too. Maybe in a bit more detail. You know me I need it step by step. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome talent!!!!
Hi from Madrid, Spain! Truly impressed by this piece of art. I have just started beading after a couple of trips to Mexico and falling in love with colourful Huichol beading art. I am not interested in making jewelery but using beading to customize clothes or create hanbags or just plain art like you just did. Thanks for sharing, it was a real pleasure watching the whole process.
Thank you Silvia. I too was inspired towards beadwork after seeing the Huichol work. Good luck with your beading. If you use instagram you can see more of by beadwork @peggy_dembicer
Dembicer thanks!! I really appreciate it! I have so many questions! I’ve seen in your IG feed that you also have some Huichol-like mosaic type works done. I inow mexicans use Campeche wax to stick the beads together but that’s not easy to find anywhere else but in Mexico. What did you use? I’ve read about epoxi resins but you have lmited working time. I started with US and Mexico bead suppliers, later I found some in Spain too but it would be so nice to find all those materials over here... Also, your loom is amazing, I already read who made it for you. I wish I had a Tony in Spain :) Take care!
@@silviaascasibar267 I use white glues to adhere my beads. I got a recommendation from other beaders and now use Aleene's Quick Dry tacky glue, it dries very clear. I use a narrow tipped plastic squeeze bottle to apply it, the kind of bottle nail salons use to make designs on finger nails. Other beaders like to use motorized air pens for applying the glues. The mosaics are quite time consuming, but such fun when they are finished.
Wow. Truly Amazing. Not only is ur work amazing, but your patients. Bravo!!! I could never complete a whole image if I tried. I'd get bored of seeing and doing the same thing. But I'm surprised I watched this whole video. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. You're very talented. Thank you again. 😃
Stormyrapture: I printed my picture (cartoon) first. Then I put the printed paper containing the cartoon through the printer again, this time printing a bead graph right on top of the cartoon.
What a wonderful, in depth video! Thank you so much for sharing. The whole time I was watching, I was thinking what an imagination you have, and how the heck did you ever figure out what color beads to use. Awesome job!
Like so many others said, I am in awe after watching you create Main Drain. I read the other comments and found the answers to most of my questions, except the main one. What brand of beads do you use? I have been searching for a good 11/0 brand with pretty good uniformity and variety in color. I have searched for opaque peaches and varying shades of br9wns and tans with little luck. I would be most greatful if you could help me in my quest. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent.
this is simply amazing I am just starting off and having problems after problems but you made me want to get all the kinks out just so I can do something close to skill level
I was just wondering if you are standing and reaching over the loom, or sitting and reaching over?...and if it makes your back ache? I am asking because I like to weave but I need to be closer to be able to see the warp threads and sometimes it it feels uncomfortable to reach like that, so I turn my little bead loom around. Is there a right or wrong way, to position the loom, or actually I guess I am asking if you know a position that might cause the least strain on eyes and back? I was thinking maybe a vertical Loom?... I am new to this ( for a second time)in that, I have not done this since I was in school many years ago.I happened across a video by you a while back and remembered that I loved doing this, so I bought a very small loom, and now want to make or buy a bigger one..... thank you for reminding me of something From my past. We learned to make our own looms and then weave. Like you my old teacher was very easy to understand and made us excited to try this, ( of course I was in my teens then am an Well over 60 now!) I now find That I have time to create again, after many years of being way too busy taking care of business and family. So thank you very much, for this lovely reminder of the young girl, that I used to be who loved both color, beads Building and creating!
Kat Kathi, Thank you for your interest in my work. I was a tapestry weaver who put that on the back burner when I fell in love with weaving paper and with weaving beads. I sit when I pick up the beads and stand when I weave them in. I fortunately do not have back issues yet. I too have found increased freedom in retirement, it is a fabulous opportunity to create and experiment. A fellow beader recently informed me that she worked with Tony of Northwest Looms to make a vertical loom for her, with a stand. The pictures she sent me of her new equipment look spectacular. Tony made my looms. Although he has closed down his website, he is still taking phone orders for custom looms. I confirmed that with him. He can be reached at 308 W Idaho St, Cheyenne, WY 82009. (307) 638-8003. If you have any questions as you move forward you can email me directly at beadarts@gmail.com
Peggy, what kind of loom is this? If it's not obtainable/available, what loom would you recommend for projects this size? I purchased a Lacis loom (continuous warp) but I wonder if that was the right choice? Is there anything other than the (expensive) Mirrix loom? Thank you for any help.
My loom was custom made by Tony of Northwest Looms. I am not sure if he has totally retired yet. Although he has closed down his website, he was still taking phone orders for custom looms when I confirmed that with him some time ago. He may be done now though. You can see if he can be reached at 308 W Idaho St, Cheyenne, WY 82009. (307) 638-8003. klissus@msn.com to see if he can assist with specifications. Any traditional loom could technically be warped to accommodate bead weaving by setting the warp spaces according to the bead size you use. I use seed beads 11 and space my warp threads at 16 ends per inch. Traditional looms are more of a challenge to warp but you can take classes and learn. I don't have, nor have ever even seen the MIrrex loom in person so I can't weigh in on that personally.
This is amazing. Curious as to why you call it a cartoon? I mean it's a printed photo, yes? Is this a technical term? I'm blown away at how beautiful this is. I mean the teeth!!! Holy mother of pearl. So so so cool!!!
This is freaking bananas... congrats on the amazing piece. Goes beyond craft and is certainly art, I hope you consider yourself an artist. It’s funny, a great use of found objects, and technically skilled beyond belief. Awesome!
This was amazing. Now for some odd reason I feel the need to go look for these tangs the next time the street sweeper swings through! I might find a yse for them. I had no idea they even left them behind?
My mom had one of these and I guess one or two strings snapped -.-. But it's beautiful after it's done! But I'm good with my bead loom with 10-15 strands lol
I love this woman! Her voice is so calming. It's like therapy to listen to this video. Loom beading large pieces for wall hangings has been a dream of mine for years. +Peggy Dembicer, how many hours did did it take you to do this piece? Do you have more videos, and pictures of more of your work?
Beautiful work! You are awesome! How long did that take you to finish? If you were to sell something like that, how much would a piece this size cost? Where do you get your beads from? Thank you very much for sharing and showing us this beautiful piece of art!
That is amazing work. You truly are an artist! I enjoyed watching your creative process. I hope you post more. Only thing I would have liked to have seen you bead the first row. I was wondering what kinds of beads you use, and needles? Would love to see the backing you put on this piece.
Hi Susan. Thank you for your comment. I use size 11 seed beads most of the time. I like John James beading needles but I am not specifically particular. If I invest a lot of hours into a piece, I have it professionally framed, stitched down to mat board, uv protective glass. If it is a small work, I frame it with ready made frames.
I love watching your videos and am amazed with your work. I started out with a small loom and enjoyed it but had to put on hold due to a new floor being put in around 2017 and haven't got back into yet. I dreamed of doing something like what you do but didn't have a bigger loom until I asked my hubby to get a new one for my birthday which has been shipped and looking forward to getting back into it again. With all that being said I would like to know what size beads and needles you use? Could you also tell me the measurements of the loom you use? Thank you and keep up the beautiful bead work.
Thank you for your support Sandra. Good luck with your new loom. I use size 11 rocaille beads typically but can use an assortment of types if the color warrants it. often size 12 long beading needles and John James extra long work well for me. you can email me questions at beadarts@gmail.com as you set up and get into your projects if you want to or to share progress.
In knitting, there's a technique called thrumming. It uses small pieces of roving or yarn to add thickness and warmth. I can't help but wonder if it was a way to use up thrums. I'll have to look this up. Thank you so much!
Thanks Michele. It is custom made by Tony of Northwest Looms, USA klissus@@t. (307) 638 8003 308 W. Idaho St., Cheyenne Wyoming, 82009 USA I don't know if he is still making these.

It is! Give it a try and hope that you have good luck with the process.
this is simply amazing I am just starting off and having problems after problems but you made me want to get all the kinks out just so I can do something close to skill level
You have an amazing eye for color and detail.
Thanks so much Melissa!
I was thinking maybe a vertical
Loom?...
So thank you very much, for this lovely reminder of the young girl, that I used to be who loved both color, beads
Building and creating!
Ma’am you’re amazing. I’m just wordless! You’re an out of this world artist🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thank you María
I don't have, nor have ever even seen the MIrrex loom in person so I can't weigh in on that personally.
ooo my god, u amazed me. even i have a difficulty when it comes to 30 beads but u 95? wow..such a brilliant idea..
Thanks Veronica!
This is phenomenal! I think I'll be using that knotting method in future.
Wouah!! You're an amazing artist!!
Amazing work and very good video!!
I truly enjoyed watching this! Love beads indeed! Keep up the great beadwork!
wow amazing. Great peace of work and art.
This is amazing. Curious as to why you call it a cartoon? I mean it's a printed photo, yes? Is this a technical term? I'm blown away at how beautiful this is. I mean the teeth!!! Holy mother of pearl. So so so cool!!!
Thank you Jamie! Yes cartoon is a technical term for the drawing used for tapestries. Great question.
This is freaking bananas... congrats on the amazing piece. Goes beyond craft and is certainly art, I hope you consider yourself an artist. It’s funny, a great use of found objects, and technically skilled beyond belief. Awesome!
Lawrence Smith Thank you so very much!
i like the idea of the graft paper im going to pick some up my next trip to my craft store
Inspiration to creation, LOVE IT! That was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
you are sooo creative! i love this project!!
This was amazing. Now for some odd reason I feel the need to go look for these tangs the next time the street sweeper swings through! I might find a yse for them. I had no idea they even left them behind?
Thanks Jessica. Good luck with the hunt. If you ever visit Dublin, as we did, you will see tangs everywhere!
you're quite an artist. this is great.
Holy Moly Guacamole! That is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen! Can I be you when I grow up? 😜😉😉
Traci Slaybaugh You made me laugh! Thanks.
Wow you are amazing.
WORK OF PURE ART AMAZING !!!
This is so amazing to watch! You're a great artist!
My mom had one of these and I guess one or two strings snapped -.-. But it's beautiful after it's done! But I'm good with my bead loom with 10-15 strands lol
Would you please share what you knotting board is made from?
Amazing piece!
Thank you very much for sharing and showing us this beautiful piece of art!
its so cool how it looks real
what a cheeky design!
☺
Amazingly amazing!
Excellent artist and teacher.
Thank you Teresa!
In knitting, there's a technique called thrumming. It uses small pieces of roving or yarn to add thickness and warmth. I can't help but wonder if it was a way to use up thrums. I'll have to look this up. Thank you so much!
I am familiar with thrums from my leftovers on the loom, weavers use the same term. If you have a good use for them, it's great!
I’m just starting out and I’m researching looms. May I ask what brand yours is? This piece is gorgeous. A true artist. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Michele. It is custom made by Tony of Northwest Looms, USA
