If you get a chance Lee, please do a tutorial on how to get the best results using this camera for indoor cinematic. Seems many people are moving to 2-2.5" and trying to get as light as possible for indoor pro work like residential and small venue tours. Thanks for all you do for the community.

@@AdventureFPV Not a bad idea. No one has done much on those 2 cameras indoors. A 2" platform like a KT20 with 4S650 and a Thumb Pro would come in at about 180gr and is very stable and quiet. I'm not sure if the camera is up to the task though compared to some of the naked players.
3:07 does that only work for 4 & 6s lipos? wanna fly my 2s tinyape with it and thought I'd have to solder it since it wouldn't work with 2s lipo balance leads and a bec connector

I am truly sorry for the delay in response. I had a case of RUclips Burnout. Times have changed for me in recent months and I am slowly starting to get back to flying and my channel. Had a family tragedy, an Occupation change, a New car purchase, Daughter starting to drive. Kids' school activities and more. I prioritized family first and getting my mental state in order before I could resume my channel operations. Life is trending in a more positive direction and wanted to follow up where I left off.

Oh no! I was a bit surprised at this release as well. Honestly I think the OG is just fine. I knew about the lens mod people were doing and it did not really interest me. I bet you can return it if you really want to.
I think, given that I live in sunny Greece, I'll stick to the OG so that I can benefit from the ND filters...
Maybe the wide field of view camera will get in the wish list for some other time... 😉

your footage at 2:50! How did you manage that? The stock 4k recording from Run Cam Thumb Pro 4k has too much of lens distortions!! I couldn't compensate for that even in Gyroflow, with the rigth lens profile and with an aggressive lens correction.
Hi, friend. I have the runcam thumb pro w and I can't stabilize it using giroflow. I have used the gyroscope file and the camera comes with the latest version so I have not updated it. I put the lens in profiles and 43hz and I can't stabilize anything!
Yeah sometimes it is a bit tricky to get it just right. I usually start by giving a sold thump on the ground before takeoff so I have a good reference point to manually sync the gyro data with the visual que.
So what's your opinion on the ND filter situation. Are you happy to use this new version without or do you expect runcam to issue a new style ND?
Runcam has issued a new ND that comes with the new camera. I never use a camera without and ND when it is sunny.

can I use this camera like fpv camera and HD recording camera at the same time?
Do you have a recommendation for a GoPro style mount? I printed a couple models that I found on printables but got various levels of noticeable jello with all of them.
Honestly I just use an insta360 mount and force it in. Been working great for me.
I literally JUST got a new thumb pro! Have not even used it yet! go figure lol.

Since you don't have a comparison video, can you please tell which one you think is better based on your opinion? I'm thinking about ordering one and have an opportunity to buy v1 with a small discount but I'm still not sure if that's a good choise.
I have lots of videos of the V1 on my channel and I think it does a great job. Honestly, the only difference is the WIDE field of view. I like the original FOV as well.

Hey thanks for reaching out... Without going back and rewatching this video I would assume the story I was talking about was when I did a power loop with a lion battery not a lipo battery attached to my iFlight evoque and had air mode enabled which over amped the flight controller. Due to the lion battery being able to run at lower voltages

I just stumbled in here while trying to figure out a small and lightweight camera for my motorcycle helmet, as a dashcam sort of thing. If you have the time/energy for it, I'd love to ask some questions, but obvs no pressure!
I get caught in the rain all the time; would the Thumb be able to handle that? If not, are there common mods for drone cams (naked GoPros come to mind) to address it?
Can the Thumb record for long periods of time? How long does a nominal battery last?
What sort of file sizes does it put out? Is there a max capacity for SD cards?
My apologies for the bombardment, I really haven't been able to find a lot of information on the performance of these lil cams 😅
Hey, I'm glad you found the channel. Personally as a motorcycle rider myself I would not recommend the thumb do you need to power it which would be a pain I'm not sure how long it would last in the wind or heat. I would probably recommend something in that size frame as the Insta 360 go three you're going to get pretty good results out of it with a built-in battery but you do have a recording limit of 64 GB so you would have to record it 1080 P to get long records. The SD card inside the thumb I believe can go up to 128 GB but again I don't think it's the best option if you have a little bit more room to spare I would probably suggest just stepping up to the GoPro hero 11 mini or if you don't mind a little bit bigger and more weight, I would go with a full size hero at 11 but if you want him to stay small the Insta 360 is probably a good choice.
@@AdventureFPV Heya, thanks for taking the time! The size of a helmet mounted GoPro (not just the unit, but the mounting hardware too) is what immediately discounts them for me. There's just no good mounting solution for that much bulk imo 😓
I don't mind powering a camera externally! I'd have to do that anyway, as the batteries in action cameras are really only made to last minutes or hours, not full days.
I'll check out the Go 3, seems like it could be a good option. If there's a way to power the little unit while recording without the massive extra housing, it might just be perfect 😁
Edit: yeah Go 3s are only good for 45 minutes without the GoPro sized housing, and their website basically says "if you try to use external power to record all day, you'll cook the battery." Maybe there's some work-around, modding out the battery or some such, but it's too new for anyone else to have figured that out yet, the price is too high to feel good about experimenting and possibly bricking it, and the 64gb limit makes it almost not worth the effort
