Was always a fan of Letterman"s from 1980 on but missed seeing many of his shows and interviews for one reason or another, and now 40 years later I finally get to see this very entertaining interview with Elvis Costello. Thanks. RUclips is a wonderful thing.

Crazy to think that Elvis would fill in as a host someday...

I remember calling a friend of mine who loves Costello as I do on the day Imperial Bedroom was released, which I see was 2 July 1982. It seems like yesterday, but somehow 39 years 8 months a week and 4 days have flown, and Elvis Costello has only thrilled me more and more through all that time. He gave us The Boy Named If a couple of months ago, and I can’t get enough of it.
Thanks for a great upload! Somehow I missed this until now, and I enjoyed it so much.

Good to see a chat show actually ask the musician about the music.

Or even interview the musician guests. They usually get just an introduction and the last few minutes of a show to play a song when they are the main attraction to talk shows.

Greatest thing David Letterman ever did was champion Elvis Costello for American audience's.

It’s funny to hear Elvis do a southern accent. 😊

Several apparent cutaways. Is it conceivable that someone edited out a song?? Something from Imperial Bedroom would've been brilliant.

They cut out "Man Out of Time". That's the single track they talked about.
