Was always a fan of Letterman"s from 1980 on but missed seeing many of his shows and interviews for one reason or another, and now 40 years later I finally get to see this very entertaining interview with Elvis Costello. Thanks. RUclips is a wonderful thing.
I remember calling a friend of mine who loves Costello as I do on the day Imperial Bedroom was released, which I see was 2 July 1982. It seems like yesterday, but somehow 39 years 8 months a week and 4 days have flown, and Elvis Costello has only thrilled me more and more through all that time. He gave us The Boy Named If a couple of months ago, and I can’t get enough of it. Thanks for a great upload! Somehow I missed this until now, and I enjoyed it so much.
Or even interview the musician guests. They usually get just an introduction and the last few minutes of a show to play a song when they are the main attraction to talk shows.

Crazy to think that Elvis would fill in as a host someday...

Elvis Costello is this very minute on tour again with a brand new album!
And what a great album it is! I couldn’t be more pleased with The Boy Named If.
Wow!
Good to see a chat show actually ask the musician about the music.

Thanks for posting this!
Creativity at best!!!
Greatest thing David Letterman ever did was champion Elvis Costello for American audience's.
It’s funny to hear Elvis do a southern accent. 😊
i liked the attractions
Liverpool native.
He said he's from "West London" in this interview.
He lived in Liverpool as a teenager. His mother is from there.
@@markjones952 Birkenhead actually. It’s Liverpools New Jersey.

Several apparent cutaways. Is it conceivable that someone edited out a song?? Something from Imperial Bedroom would've been brilliant.
Indeed, they cut out a fantastic "Kid About It".
@@slapstock6641 Thanks - found it!
They cut out "Man Out of Time". That's the single track they talked about.
