Everybody who had heavy rain and flooding from Ike should consider yourselves extremely fortunate. Here in Columbus, Ohio we had winds close to 80 miles per hour for about 3 hours. Thousands of us were without power for over a week, including myself. We had trees and branches down everywhere you looked. I lost all my refrigerated foods, and couldn't eat nothing but peanut butter and Jelly. We had power crews from as far away as Florida and the Carolinas just to get the lights back on. The one saving grace was that we had wonderful temperatures after the terrible windstorm. As I watched the windstorm rip the apples from my apple tree, I saw a hummingbird go to my feeder and drink with no problems. No other birds was able to even fly.
I was spared from Ike here in Pennsylvania. But I had a similar situation to what you had during Ike. I went through Hurricane Sandy in 2012 with 60-80 mph wind gusts, a couple inches of rain, power out for 4 days and school being closed for a week.
Gustav went through western Michigan just a couple days into the month of Sept 08, but it was the first tropical system that went through Michigan since Arlene and Rita in 2005.
A week before this I got affected by TS Hanna. 3-4 inches of rain fell and there was a Tornado Warning in my county, and an actual tornado north of me.
Ike is the second hurricane I remember hitting Michigan... I remember a Flood warning near me, When it hit! I don't remember that big storm before Ike... and I was watching TWC almost every day when Ike came!

Oh the memories of this storm here in East Texas. This is the same Local Forecast song as the one they played during Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005.
Weather Channel Storm Alert theme. The old one, not the new one.

I had Tropical Storm Hanna a week before Lowell went through your area. I received 3-4 inches of rain from Hanna.
Between 5 and 6 inches of rain storm total, including the rain on Friday, Saturday, and from the remnants of Ike... it came down fast.
That's a lot of rain ☔️
