Just Googled him. Wow, I see that he wrote for a number of dramas & comedies inc Goodnight Sweetheart (one of my faves). Well done to him. Sorry to hear that he passed.
I used to love watching this growing up as a young lad. I remember I used cycle like mad to get home from school to watch it. Thanks for the upload :-)
Your welcome my friend I never get tired of watching all 54 episodes of this classic series & its great to have them all on dvd after searching for a very long time
found it at last!!!!.. i was actually in this episode. My first and last attempt at acting!. Cant remember who mentioned it earlier but it was filmed at Vicarage Road Watford..
Elflad you are a top man for giving me the opportunity to watch this again. I never missed an episode, even if it meant missing training or hanging out with mates. Wtf with the fighting over empty bottles. They don't make kids programmes like that anymore. Lol
wooo the First series of Murphy`s Mob.. With the Original Ending with the Crude anatomical Drawing of a Woman.I can Imagine many parents shocked at seeing that Picture at 4-40pm . Loved Murphys Mob and Loved that One of them went on to be the Kid in the Yellow Pages advert for French Polishers
Mark M Yeah your right. Shocking to think that two people looked like that and both in acting . Simon Schatzberger. did appear in one episode of Press gang. Its strange that im not the only one who Confuses them both. as it was common knowledge that it was the same Guy . but i guess we`re all wrong

Yeah, Wurzel you mean. I agree. From what I remember he was quite a good character on Murphy's Mob, and he was naturally funny, so it's a pity he didn't do more acting roles later.
Keith Jayne was in loads of TV series around this time; Onedin Line, Scarf Jack, Stig Of The Dump and a good few others I can't quite reca]l the names of.
Gary holton sang the theme tune and also sang the 2 lee cooper dummys ad after the first one was successful with Gary numan dummys to the left was also known as ace faces written by dave cairns of mod band secret affair
I had never heard of this before but RUclips "recommended" it. It wasn't what I was expecting. And between the accents and the dismal sound quality it was difficult to understand most of the dialogue. The state's had stories like this, just not on tv unless it was a made for tv movie, more often it was a made for theatre movie....and the kids were a bit older (so that they could be played by young adults).
Considering this was most likely taken from a 35+ year old VHS tape the sound quality is pretty good. Also I had no problem understanding the accents. I've never had a problem understanding accents from the USA either. You really do need to get out more.
I assume these were off air copies? It would be interesting to see whether the archive copies had Atv or Central on them, as certain early Central stuff such as some of the episodes of 'Shine On Harvey Moon' , when repeated on Yesterday a few years back, revealed Atv captions rather than Central ones!
Central TV came into being on 1 January 1982. Harvey Moon first aired on 8 January 1982, so it would've been produced in 1981 during the ATV days. Murphy's Mob however first aired on 1 March 1982, by this time everything ATV/Central had produced would've been updated with the correct Central TV logo.
andrew hudson Series 1 was filmed at Watford, as Central was still at Elstree. Series 2 onwards, Central had moved to Nottingham, so Derby was used for exteriors at that point. (There was 2 Dunmore teams, which explained the changeover!)

Lynda Bellingham only played the part of Mac's wife because Lew Grade begged her to. His ATV franchise lost out to Central but he was still hanging around in the shadows. She only lasted a few episodes before resigning citing artistic and personal differences with the over bearing and interfering Micky Dolenz.
This is fantastic. My dad wrote Murphy’s Mob, Brian Finch. I’ve not seen the show since I was a kid.
Wow

@@danielmoran9902 no it wasn’t. Sid Waddell wrote Josey’s Giants. My dad Brian Finch wrote Murphy’s Mob.
The theme tune was sung by the late Gary Holton, who became better known as the cockney carpenter Wayne Norris from "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet".
He did Hofmeister ads before the bear too...

leedsguy41 What episode was it when they had a run in with the West Ham lot at the club?????
A great programme. I always remember the theme tune. Classic kids tv.
What a gem! Loved Murphy's Mob.
Note, no apostrophe in the titles‼️😄
Central tv never even credited Gary for singing the theme tune
Rest in peace Gary Forever young

You can tell its the old 80s Watford ground before they started doing it up, Elton John might have been kicking about !

Tuckers Luck, Murphys Mob….proper ‘yoof’ TV in those days

Thanks so much for this upload. Great memories 🍺
Qualiteee.I remember there was another footie telly show from the late seventies called striker, but not as good as this.
Dr. Connie Beauchamp from Casualty was in this show.
Fun fact: Keith Jayne (Boxer) was 21 years old when this was filmed.
Fun fact: Kids bullied him at school for being a boy called 'Jayne'. He had to learn how to fight an became a 'boxer'. True story.
RIP KEN HUTCHISON aka Murphy
Murphy's Mob was produced by actor and The Monkees drummer Mickey Dolenz.
And Metal Mickey
Amanda Mealing who played Sheila was in Grange Hill.
For someone supposedly a 'Boxer' he sure does like to wrestle lol. *six quids worth of empties* has to be the line of the 80s
Sounds a bit like Gary Holton, Auf Weidersehen Pet singing the theme
Gary Holton singing. The theme tune Rip.
they fillmed parts of this in what was "Ma Bakers" pool hall in Friargate Derby
good skinhead anthem
His wife makes great OXO gravy..
Yeah, that Rasputin fella seemed to think so and all!
Just watched an old minder with Gary Holton, the guy from Auf weidersain pet (spelling is wrong) didn’t know he sang the theme tune to this

Some Murphys Mob episodes were written by Roald Dahl

any chance of season 2 please efflad? bloody brill brings back so many memories
