We have now put this kit for sale on our website www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/other-vehicles-accessories/other-vehicle-lights/smart-fortwo-w450-led-headlight-sidelight-upgrade-kit.html
Hi I'm Deano from skelmersdale Lancashire. Iv literally got the same colour 450 and want to do this upgrade. I enjoy very much how you simplify everything you explain with smarts ..good presentation and telling us what tools we may need to use or buy to get the job done. I will buy my kit from you Boys for sure . Great stuff thanks 👍
i have basically the same car as you, canadian version, 06 smart fortwo with the passion package. on the headlamps there appears to be automatic adjustment motors inside the lights and they make noise ALL the time the lights are on... like a RRRrrrRRRrrrRRRR souds like they are seeking. how can i either shut them off, or make them work!? i haven't taken the lights apart yet, although i've change the bulbs... there is one plug that seems to just be a dummy, your second set of wires that has a bulb - looks like a factory sealed thing, just cut off and sealed., not just someone that slapped electrical tape on it... on both sides, then inside there are two look like connectors that have wires looped around but don't seem to attach to anything... any idea how i can wire that up? my indicator lights around two round ones inside the grille
Link? You didn't place a link for all of the light's. Love the video, and I am also interested in purchasing all of the bulbs. I am tired of changing bulbs once a month, and hope that the LED's will not burn out so fast.
Hello! I am going to try and do a maintenance service by my self. And resolve an issue that is, my brake light whenever i have the car tilted in a ramp or brake with more speed the get on on the panel. So i checked the brake oil and it is low. First problem: i can not get the cap fluid reservoir off, it is stuck. Any Suggestions? :/ Thanks
yup there right , when you touch the glass on the bulb the grease of youre hands can etch intoo the glass , can cause heatshock breaking the glass spontaniously or can cook the grease off the glass and land on the reflector ruining the headlight , basicly dont touch the glass part i got a set of headlights where they put the led bulbs intoo , the glas of the lens has melted and the bubbling made it turn opaque at the hot spot
powerfulukltd Loved your exhaust mod, that was pure genius! . would love to see any suspension/handling mods. On the diy maintenance front you should maybe change the coolant which requires a process to prevent air locks, and change the gear oil. I’m going to buy the headlight kit from you as I’m very impressed with your detailed video
No i did not change the main beam - the smart car leaves the dipped beam on with main so i though i would get the best advantage for £ by upgrading the dipped beam
The problem with LED bulbs is that the lens isn’t clear as in full LED headlights. The LED lights put out a flat light with no deviation to left or right hence, no deflectors are required for foreign driving. Full LED lights have a totally clear lens and they self level and slightly turn to avoid the dazzle effect. Headlight washers aren’t required at all.

Is this upgrade legal in the UK; there seems to have be an amendment to the MOT directives in 2021??
This tutorial is great! 👍
Glad you think so!

Great video. Can you a do a video on facelifting the headlight to the 2009 model? They have projectors and look much nicer.
Thank you for making this video, very helpful.
Hi Andrew i can see by your comments you are a man that knows his Smart Cars ! Any video suggestions welcome

Have you passed the MOT with the new lights fitted?
Yes it did
@@L663 I doubt it would pass an MOT where i go.
Good job 👍
Did you change the main b am? It looked more yellow in the final test?
No i did not change the main beam - the smart car leaves the dipped beam on with main so i though i would get the best advantage for £ by upgrading the dipped beam
How dit that get through an MOT like that?
Yes that my friend is a good question !

Wow, the 450 really is different than the 451, doesn't even look similar under the front panel.
Anyone know if this works in the 2011 Smart Fortwo?
Great
That's weird. I adjust the light height of my 450 with a nob on the side from the dash. It has 3 settings. Don't you have this?
Mine has too. Mine is a Smart "Passion" which as you say has that adjustment but mine went faulty & i had to snip the wires.
The beam with those LEDs is so s...t that it won't pass the MOT.
