  • I used to think there were only 3 or 4 real barefoot shoe brands, but since buying my first pair I've learned about WAY more. There's a far more diverse variety of barefoot shoes out there than you might expect, and my aim here is to give you a taste of the options you have.

Yeah, those Velhos are nowhere near barefoot. They're narrow AF in the toes. Awful.

Velho is interesting 🤔 The toebox doesn't seem super wide based on the pics, keen for your review! I also see Saguaro and TSLA shoes being talked about as cheap Amazon barefoot beaters.

Amazing brand of casual barefoot shoes with really wide toe box. Kind of a barefoot Vans!!

I never realized until recently the xero strap thingy that they have on all their shoes is actually a functional part of the design, meant to make the shoe more secure on the foot. I always just thought it was a weird ugly gimmick. I have the Xero Genesis sandal, and while its embarrassingly feminine looking, it's also the most comfortable and one of the closest to actually barefoot feeling shoes I've tried. Their customer service and warranty are phenomenal. Now that they have cooler looking design in their shoes I will likely be giving them a try.

The Whitin Trail Runner is pretty solid. It's zero drop with a very flexible sole if you take out the insole. They feel great, great traction too. The only downside is I think they'll wear out pretty quickly.

Cool! Looking forward to see the Velho shoes review, I just bought a pair of splay freestyle as my first barefoot shoes and the Velho seem interesting given the price, in this case I’m looking for an affordable indoor soccer barefoot shoe that’ll be easily replaceable 2:35

I got a pair of Splays and like them as my second pair of barefoot shoes. First pair was Lems boots. The Splays are also significantly cheaper then other brands I looked at when considering shipping and customs costs for us Canadians.

I think SplayShoes are great, especially for the price. I have a pair of Explores for my everyday, erranding, casual out, walks, and mild-weather hikes.

I would love to know more about barefoot sandals ! I've been trying to find a good pair and there are so many different styles and brands, it's hard to know which one is the best for your needs. Although I'm glad that the barefoot style is gaining more recognition and more diversity !

Sockwa is another brand of minimalist shoes, which have design that's derivative of the design of their beach shoes with a TPU plastic sole, to allow for a maximum barefoot feel when wearing them.

my favorite bare boot /shoes are Jim greens. Then again the only other one I tried was xero shoes. By the way do you know anyone that has put them to the test as they say they can go 5000 miles but I have not tested that and I have not seen any one else test it either.

Like your comments on barefoot shoes especially those with a reasonable price. I considering springing for a pair of Vivobarefoot Magna FG - and the lower price is literally $200+! There have got to be stylish barefoot shoe offerings at a reasonable price. My main problem with barefoot shoes is that its so difficult to find something that is an attractive casual shoe rather than an athletic shoe.

unfortunately the options are minimal for style. If you don't mind buying used. I bought some vivos on ebay and they were slightly used. People sell them because they Didn't end up liking the barefoot feel and can't return them.

SplayShoes is another great brand. And inexpensive. Simple, true-to-the-foot, cotton canvas & rubber sole sneakers.
I have a pair of Explores for my everyday, erranding, town & woodsy walking sneakers. The only bit of trouble I've had with them was some loosening stitches where the tongue joins the upper. I just put a few stitches there and all good.

Hey thank you this was helpful!
I'm not new to the idea of walking barefoot and with barefoot shoes
But for years I have prioritized mental stability and peace first.
And now it's time to get things going on the physical level - starting with prober shoes(and socks)
And I've been thinking "woa there is so many brands..." and even more that would like to try them and not just look at them on Internet and videos. You seem like a guy who's used to Internet and videos. What I have learned is that THE MATERIAL of the shoe is of great importance
Especially the sole. It has to be conductive. I've had many hands on experiences proving that there is a connection between my body - the soles of my feet - and the ground. I'm not talking about spiritual stuff. I'm talking about measurable electricity that occurs when the two make contact.
So... Do you know anything about this? I'm from Denmark. And a shoe sole made from "naturgummi" - translates to natural rubber - comes from the rubber tree.
And this is a good conducter. Animal is also good. I don't know of any other material.
I have already found an outdoor boot - it's a vivobarefoot.
And I'm looking for an outdoor shoe and an athletic one also - meaning it has more cushioning than most of the barefoot shoes we see.
I believe if I'm walking in nature outdoor I need next to no cushioning
But if I'm walking in the city and so on - hard surfaces and training not in nature - my feet need some more cushioning.
Hope to hear from you and listen to whatever you have to say 😃🙏🏼

If you are worried with the looks of the barefoot shoe, then you are doing something wrong. It is just a pair of shoes, not a fashion show, and all of them look ugly af..... If they look good they are not barefoot!
