Remember seeing the spirograph set in Canada way back in their summer of 1964 (very, very young back then). Amazing and magical it was to me. Wanted one desperately but for some reason never got one of my own - being the youngest most likely - very disappointed. Then remember it quite a bit later with a neighbour friend up the road back in Australia. Used pins, rather than putty, to attach the wheels to the board back in those days. Think I will buy a set. I come from Venice, and yes, here we speak in our dialect instead of italian very often. older people often don't even know the difference between the two language, and can speak only dialect. I had a Spirograph in the early 1980's. I remember it had ballpoint pens that didn't last long. I also remember plastic pegs that stuck through the paper from the bottom to hold the wheel in place.
So now I need one of these kits again! I think I got mine as a Christmas present too.. Me and my brother would use these for hours. Lots of used drawing paper around the house lol. Great vid! Ty!
I had this exact kit as a child! I remember liking the sound and the feeling more than the result as a kid haha. I never had the patience to create a whole round that looked like a sphere, I just made odd overlapping squiggles.
First video of yours I've seen and I gotta say I really enjoyed the gentle talking and reminiscing over your childhood. Even though I never tried spirographs, the way you talked about it so affectionately gave me tingles and some sort of secondary nostalgia :)
I actually found it way easier to learn than standard Italian! The consonants are a little more relaxed. It's not taught in school, so not a whole lot of the younger folks from the region understand it anymore. I kept getting corrected when I would call a chair a "caregha" instead of a "sedia."
I watched Wonder Woman too!! A FEMALE superhero!!!! I had that red boxed spirograph as well. But I didn't play with it much. I have no hand eye coordination, and have always been hand clumsy. So when ever I tried to use it the inner part that held the pen would be jumping gear teeth all around the outer circle. Utter frustration! The white ink against the black paper is a nice effect.
I thought that in one of your videos before you referred to your husband as your late husband. did you remarry or did I just hear that wrong and I'm crazy? but regardless, your hair was fabulous in this video!
