Mid summer work on the the small leaf Linden bonsai. This is the third video of this tree, check out the playlist section of the channel for the previous videos.
While watching the Aug 2015 small-leaf lime pruning, I became aware of how difficult it was to see what you were doing with so much other folliage in the background - In the Feb 2016 follow-up video, the viewing much easier - Great improvement! - Nancy
Nice tree Nigel. I was curious enough to check previous two videos. Amazing how this sucker grew up in lees then a year. Your small linden looks like great specimen with so many different posibilities for the future. Looking forward to see next update, hopefuly in spring.
Lindens are one of my favorite trees. There is an old one at the end of my street. When it is in bloom a luscious honey scent wafts through the neighborhood. Yes it is that big. Didn’t know they could be bonsai. I’m new to this pursuit but have already found an online source for a small leaved linden seedling. I shall just have to be patient. Good spiritual practice
Thank you Pat, we have a large one on our street too, the smell is just perfect, not too strong, not too weak! My son and I have fun throwing the little seed balls at each other! My tree has flowered the last two years!
Always love your videos! Do your publish dates coincide with your tree work? In other words, are you doing this work in August? Is this the best time to prune deciduous trees? Thanks for sharing!
Nice tree. In my opinion, the branch you talk about on minute 8 should become the trunk. Of course it will have to gow freely for a year or two to thicken. A little wire could help... greets Kennet
+ak50gunit Yes, that may become a good option for the future. Lindens in nature are very triangle shaped, almost like a spruce tree style. I'm thinking of removing the horizontal sections and just leaving the upright growth. I'll be working on the tree again this winter.
Hello, I was curious if you know anything about hibiscus and wether or not I could easily bonsai one, There is one in my front yard and I've taken cuttings in hope of making a bonsai
Skyler Nichols Hibiscus can make a great bonsai. I have one I've been working on for years, it doesn't look good yet, but it is making progress. Last year, I got three giant flowers on it. The flowers don't last very long though.
+Nigel Saunders I know you probably get a lot of video requests but could you make a video on your hibiscus? I am really curious about how you shape yours, because I know everyone has there different style Thank you
Ein interessanter Baum und gute Arbeit mein Freund :)

Most videos are posted the same day that I do the work, at the most a day later!
Great video! Great Tree! Could we possibly get a video on fertilizing? Would be interesting to see how you do it in a similar climate to mine.
Nice tree.

Kennet De Bondt I'll see how the little shoot develops, and as you say, I could wire it to flow better. Thanks, Nigel
And another question: do you thought about cutting down the "weeping" part of the tree and developing that suckers as a new main trunk?
