Funny thing is that this unit is not only of former Chessie System heritage but also currently numbered after one of the four surviving Southern Railway’s E8As that once lead the Crescent passenger train! 😄
I'm just imagining a CSX rep being handed a photograph of this in the middle of a press conference: "CSX Corporation does not condone unauthorized alteration or vandalism of railroad prop...say, that's a pretty snazzy job they did with the cat, right?"
A TVMRi member managed to catch this thing in Cartersville and showed it to me earlier today. He may have been one of the first to get video footage of it. Personally I just love this and am very eager to get a model GP40 just to do this

You know, a basic description of this video would have helped. We're not all "autistic" train hypergeeks who know the significance, if there is any, of this.
I don't get what the problem is with the cabs. I think they look clean and still hold corporate unity. Moreover, they didn't have to do any heritage units.
The iconic sleeping "Chessie." Every Railfan knows that one! Some of those "fallen flag" railroads had the best logos. Thanks to DIB for giving us this rare look-see. 😺👍
What’s funny is that this isn’t the first time this has Happened, CSX once put a Chessie logo Sticker on the blank-nose CSX 6900. The first crew to operate hated the attention and ripped the sticker off during a local job. As least this is painted on, it truly is a work of art! Although highly unlikely, I hope they keep it.
@@yeahman70 I could be wrong, but I think the logo that seems to be showing up is dust and stuff building up where the sticky residue was left behind after its removal.

CSX is doing an awful job with their heritage units. They never paint the entire engine, logos aren’t properly sized, etc. Norfolk Southern did it much better on their fleet.

That's a GP40-2

The best vandalism I’ve ever seen. If we combine it with 1973 we get almost an entire heritage unit 😂
Next "Vandalism" someone chops off 6914's cab and bolts it to 1873, creating the first standard cab GEVO and making a real heritage unit too
Vandalized??? How do you figure?
How to properly do heritage units. Step one. Paint a locomotive that actually wore that paint job in its past.

Well you can’t really do that when the government pushes for more standards every year.
