Hmmm, not sure about your No 1 position pick (Lodge). The shape is not optimized for cooking as the bottom (cooking surface) caves inward; hence less cooking surface. Nice try though.
I have the crockpot version… it’s horrible… chips everywhere and scratches easily… I’m super gentle…. Don’t buy this brand … spend some money and get something nicer

I have a Tramontina 3.5 and 5.5 quart, plus a 7.5 quart Le Creuset Chef’s Oven. Use them all the time, especially in winter.
I use the lodge 5 qt dutch oven..only drawback was I thought they were made in USA..I understood it just built a plant here.

Keeps the heat longer, evenly distributes heat….can go from stove top to oven, to grill, to camp fires……Try that with a regular pot.
Cast Iron means weight.
