"Foundation". There is no "The" in it. I'm also fairly sure a series based on one of the most famous trilogies of Science fiction for the last 80 years is fairly widely known.

These production companies can't even make anything good. Even with multi-million dollar IPs that were already successful. Alien: Earth for example is almost a decent show but it's too obvious the writers of these shows don't care to understand anything they write about.

All the good concepts were already in the books, so Apple TV, didn't add anything other than New Trek levels of polished surfaces.

This is an interesting scene, but I can't help but wonder why they bothered with the Foundation IP if they weren't actually going to use source material beyond names of characters and locations. I'd have enjoyed it more if they just made a new IP.
If they did this, probably they wouldn't get along using the cloning dynasty concept
Ikr the Foundation series wasn't even widely known outside of sci fi readers but I suppose it was just reputable and widespread enough to kickstart interest in other spaces for a tv show.
Haven’t seen Foundation because I refuse to pay for yet another streaming service. Had no idea this was supposed to be it. Loved the books though.

If this show was called anything else and had its showrunners say, "we were heavily inspired by Foundation" that would be fine!
@housekilla457 hey man, just saying Apple TV is literally all bangers. My wife and I wouldn't have even considered it but we got a free trial, and we kept the sub ever since it expired. I'm not exaggerating at all, if you are bored with your current services you gotta check it out, See and Severance in particular were my favorites so far.

A great series. I've read all the Asimov novels, the first one written in the 1950s, meaning that some changes needed to be made. The overarching plot is faithful to the novels, and in some respect improves upon the books by giving the "Emperors" a continuing role, as well as the continuity of the main characters, which was absent in the novels, given the time span of the whole narrative.

Have you even read the novels? The series is a completely different story arc than the books. Yes the show has some of the characters of the books but many of those are also completely rewritten.
I've tried reading Foundation and filed miserably. It kinda felt like glorified history book or something like that, so I went on to read Hyperion novels. Read first two, stopped on the third because it was just sus.

the series have only the name of the masterpiece of Asimov . all is changed . the serie on its own is nice , the thing is that have nothing in common with the foundation , but they took the names twisting and spoling all . if the serie had another name would be more appreciated .

In this show he's a very charismatic conman who keeps catching you off guard so even his enemies love him in a way. In the book the show is loosely based on, he's half bear and half mountain of a man, a ruthless cuthroat trader forcing deals between political powers.
And in both versions he's a complete bastard no one can ignore.

@baronfromthepit9858 Asimov takes a lot of inspiration from Doyle and Christie. You get a setup and then a mind-blowing reveal at the end. This is very hard to do in a film - same reason why there are so few good Sherlock Holmes adaptations.

I just read the first "Foundation" book, (which is made up of four separate, but related stories) So I was not merely disappointed by this adaptation, I was in despair. THIS IS NOT WHAT ASIMOV WROTE. read the books, this TV stuff is so twisted away from the original, as to bear very little connection to it!
