  • Here's NeuroActing's groundbreaking Table of Actions (buy yours at www.neuroacting.com) created by Bryan Bounds to show actors how to create an acting score that has a beginning, middle and end, (which is what your audition panel will be looking for) as well as a variety of tones, moods, actions and emotions. You can also visit neuroacting.com to buy the complete course 'Mastering the Monologue'.

    Hi Bryan! I have a question. For the actions on the monologue script (suppress, amuse, etc.) do I suppress, amuse, awake, etc the imaginary person I'm talking to, or am I suppressing, amusing, awaking myself? Second, could each sentence have a separate action, or is it better to make it simpler and have one action for several lines as you do?

    • @NeuroActing
      @NeuroActing  5 дней назад

      Great questions! These actions are things that you are doing, sometimes to yourself ("suppress my desire to lash out at you"), or doing to another person. Focusing on the other person makes the work a bit easier though because then you can lock onto them and see if your actions are having an effect. Second: it depends on the piece itself. Perhaps if you're starting off with this, I would use three actions to begin with, and then when it becomes more natural to you, then you can add more. But always with your work, you want to know the action so well that you get out of your head and you don't have to "think" about them - it's all coming from your momentum during the flow of the piece. Over time they will become a natural way of behaving when you work. Does that make sense? Shout if you need more clarification, and break a leg!

    • @NeuroActing
      @NeuroActing  5 дней назад

      PS playing the action: "suppress ______" is a very effective way to induce the emotion that you might want to feel. But you're not playing the mood, you're doing want we all do in response to the situation which makes it worse! And that's good!

      @@NeuroActing Thank you! This really helped clear it up for me. I was wondering, could you make a video demonstrating what it looks like playing different actions so that I could actually see the transitions, tone changes, etc?
