Sharp looking man with that hat Chris!! I remember, I think, of you and Carolina in Mexico and doing some temples and seeing some amazing buildings. I was really fascinated by these ones on this trip. I liked the price of entry and the low cost bus trip. Yes, there is always some place excellent to eat as Mexican food is my favorite then Asian my second. I really love seeing you both enjoy yourselves and I think just walking around the towns is nice with the artwork and the friendly people. We really like or Jumping places wear. The wife got a v neck in berry and I got a tank in purple, so one it gets above the freezing we will be sporting it. working on the passports and will be taking our shirts with us. love ya both and wondering. Are you going to Oaxaca on this journey. I was thinking of it and I feel drawn to want to go. Blessings and good health our dear friends. peace.

We were shocked actually by how few people there were, we did go kind of early though at 9:30, it opens at 8. When we were leaving around 12-1 p.m is when all the tours were arriving probably from tulum/playa del carmen/cancun e.t.c. So our advice would be to do the same as us to get it pretty much to yourself!

Here is some information about the ball game you referenced:
    Pok-A-Tok
Pok-A-Tok was a ball game played by the ancient Maya well over 1000 years ago in what's now Cancun and Riviera Maya. And there's evidence that the Toltecs and Aztecs played variations of the game, too, as there are stadiums (for lack of a better term) dotted throughout Mexico.
What did the Mayan ball game represent?
The Maya were reenacting the mythic ball game played between the Hero Twins (gods of life/fertility) and the gods of the Underworld (death). In Maya mythology, the Hero Twins played the game to save their father (First Father/the Maize god), and the Hero Twins were victorious over the Lords of the Underworld.
What happens if you lost the Mayan ball game?
The penalty for losing a game was sometimes unusually harsh: death. The leader of the team who lost the game was sometimes killed. This fit in with the Mayan belief that human sacrifice was necessary for the continued success of the peoples' agriculture, trade, and overall health.

Seeing Chichen Itza reminds me of Copan in Honduras. I think that's Mayan as well. They have the pyramid similar to the one in the video, but maybe half the size, and their "football" field. I read the explanation about their sport, but have forgotten it. I like the colourful adobe houses in Valladolid, very similar to the ones in upland Honduras. It's my type of old colonial house that I could live in with modern amenities like AC of course. There is a flight ban right now between Canada and Mexico/Caribbean, traditional destinations of snowbirds. That's why it looks so empty.

The sacrifices were for the god that appeared in the Cenote. That's why children were sacrificed there too. Very gruesome but very real sacrifice to their reptilian god. The main pyramid is actually built on top of a smaller one that is about 30' tall if I remember correctly. They tunneled through and found a room at the top of the inside one that had a jaguar statue that was still painted, along with some human remains. I didn't even know that when I was there a few weeks ago, until I already left. Pretty interesting. It is unfortunate that the drones are not allowed, the footage would be epic, although I can understand why, the noise and how many of them might be buzzing around would take away from the peace of the place.
On a side note, I really enjoy your vlog style, the way it is put together is very realistic of what visiting a place is like. Instead of a bunch of hype and fancy camera tricks or showing places to make it look different, your style of vlogging shows what a place is actually like to just show up and explore. When I subbed to ya'lls channel a long while ago, I unsubbed from a few other very well known ones in exchange. haha Keep up the great work

    • @normclemis1221

There are 2 within, the larger being 56 ft to the base of the room with the painted jaguar. I was there in the early 2000's during a special event. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the inside. We entered on the side of the main stairs with the snake heads. Up the steep stairs 56 ft and got to check out the previously mentioned room. That was when you could also climb the outside stairs on the other side.
