One thought: Write your email in such a way that you only need to hear "ok" back.
Two very bitter thoughts:
1. When you spend an hour+ on that mail only to get gibberish back, it hurts.
2. Some profs are simply not very nice people, no matter how you word your emails. Avoid their courses at all costs.
I have been told some very strange, dehumanizing and outright hostile things.

Yeah. Some professors just aren't in it for students at all. They literally don't care and it sucks.
