@@timstriathlonjourneys7575 ahaha my wardrobe is now on the spare bed 🤣
I'm looking at new bikes and wanted to ask what your opinion was on the one piece carbon handlebars. I've read mostly negative comments like it makes any kind of adjustment very hard/expensive. Plus adding accessories is very difficult. Even canyon are charging up to £500 for aerobars.
I really like the look and they seem to be standard on the models I'm looking at.
Considering:
canyon endurace
Pinarello X5
And a few other endurance bikes around the £5k-ish mark
This is such an interesting topic Gary, I might even make a video about it. I’d 100% go for round bars, I’ve just taken the integrated cockpit off of my new to me 2022 Ultimate and put round bars on so that I can fit lights, aero bars that aren’t £500, Garmin mount etc. Integrated look great if it all fits you and you can get the proprietary parts needed but otherwise they’re just a pain. The only blessing with the canyon setup is that mine don’t actually run the hoses internally so I could swap bars without bleeding the brakes. Depending how aggressive a position you want I’d get an Ultimate or Endurace, both will take 32mm tyres and ride like a dream. I’m loving the new Ultimate, though the 2024 version does run the hoses internally in the stem etc whereas mine doesn’t so I’m not sure if that would be more difficult to change. Rides great.
@@TriathlonDan Thank you Dan, that is a brilliant reply and really informative. Particularly your recommendation for Canyon Ultimate.
I have a bike fit in about two weeks with a local person who will try out different frame sizes/reach/heigh etc and see which is optimal. I'm not a natural so probably nothing too aggressive.
Would love a video on it, especially as it seems such a hot topic at present!
Thanks again
Gary
@@TheWeightliftingTriathlete Agree 100% with Dan. Lot of new triathletes might not realise. But racing without aerobars. You'll be losing 2-4 minutes over Olympic Distance.
