They used a thin piece of rubber from the factory. Just tap it off real easy with a rubber mallet and screwdriver/punch. I’ve done a bunch. Sometimes the glass breaks and sometimes not. I use a product called window weld to glue it back on. Most parts stores have it. Comes in a caulk tube.

It's on there with window channel rubber...it's kind of sticky like un-vulcanized rubber. You are going to need some new rubber strip to install it on the new window.
It comes in a roll...an old school glass shop will have some

In my experience, there was a thin rubber strip the glass sat in, then it was pushed into the channel. A few had some type of adhesive but not all. That may be a question to ask a Pete mechanic to be sure.

To get those off I usually just take a screwdriver that fits into the channel slot and gradually pry it off. The glass is just a friction fit with a thin layer of rubber called setting tape. You can get different thicknesses of it at a glass shop.

Peterbilt will sell the metal piece with a rubber strip that wraps around the bottom edge of the window and is sandwiched into the metal bracket. It's kindof a force fit.

I've used 3M Windo Weld in the past for these types of glass mounts. It's urethane based and I can tell you it will hold the world if you prepare the metal properly. There's the kind that is primer less and the opposite, so pay attention to what you buy. it is expensive so I try to think of something else to fix with it or seal it up tight in a bag and put it in my shop refrigerator to keep it longer.

Your new window. Chamfer the bottom edges that fit into the channel with 120 or a little higher grit. Clean the glass with methyl hydrate. Fill the channel up with mastic adhesive. ( get it at any glass supply). Then gently use a rubber mallet as a concusive press to apply the channel to the new window.

They usually used a Thin rubber strip in Channel. If you take a long small Screw driver and pry it out. If rubber is too bad. You could use a Windshield adhesive to hold new one in..

Just ask and the cavalry rides to the rescue.
Most all the answers are good but i would try sourcing the rubber strips before buying a whole tube of caulking . Good luck Jeff and Best Wishes.

Get a tube of 3M window weld. Or any urethane window caulk. Tough as nails

I thought they were like a pressure bond, can you put an acetal/plastic wedge and push the clamp off the glass. Should not need to break the glass.
