In one of my previous video descriptions, I think I said I'm not normally a sucker for nostalgia. This is one of the times where I break that trend. Animal Crossing Wild World was the first game I ever played in my phat blue Nintendo DS. I remember begging my mom to get it for me at our local Gamestop, and I was hooked on that system for the next few years. I still have that DS, despite it being 9 or so years old at this point. The touch screen is pretty much useless, due to the fact that at one point, I thought it would be a good idea to use a pencil as a stylus while playing Pokémon Ranger. I don't think I need to explain that any farther. The game itself is super nostalgic for me. It was a home away from home for me when I was a kid. I knew nothing about chemistry with villagers or the optimal configuration for the money rocks. I just played. It's been a long time since I've played a game like that for the sake of playing a game. Now that I've become busier, life simulation games just don't fit into my schedule anymore, but I stil look back on Animal Crossing fondly. Anyway, enough reminiscing. To me, this song represents growing up. It represents a growing awareness of the world around you as you become more knowledgable about its workings. It represents the coming of age, or being old enough to really think about things in a philosophical way. While I'm no old fart by any means, I think it's worth nothing that I'm in my last year of high school, and I've developed at least some sort of deep thinking skills. This tune symbolizes that growing process. This is getting super sappy, my god. To mirror this sentiment of growing up, I tried to give the song a progression in complexity. The song starts off with some chordal pads and a simple lead (suprisingly, these chords don't play in the original tune that plays when you start up the game). Over time, more instruments come in, and the song is developed more and more. You could say that the song is maturing as it progresses. I don't really know, it sounds cheesy anyway ;) This is definitely one of those songs that means a lot to me emotionally. If you've taken the time to read this, kudos to you, you're one of the few people that can take the time to read something emotional and actually understand it, rather than just watch a few seconds of the video, comment "SHEETZ PLS??" down below and then click away.
+insaneintherainmusic very interesting. although now my high school years are way past me, I can definitely say that I felt a similar change around that time. I was pretty clueless before junior year or so.
+insaneintherainmusic Such cheesiness, but a tasty kind, and with a captivating mix of timbres to savour even after the song's finished... Must be pepper jack! Congrats on three years and good luck this last year of high school!
+insaneintherainmusic Wild World was my first Animal Crossing game. Like you, I had no idea what I was doing, but the completely different, relaxed nature of the game had me absorbed for months.
+SiberianHuskyF1 Exactly, and then I stopped playing it for a while and I got really sad once I saw all the weeds that sprung up in your town. I wish there was an easier way to get rid of all of them, there were *so many* in the DS version.
I shall do the same. It brings back memories of when I was young and unaware, playing video games and going to school crying about pathetic stuff, because it's the first grade. I grew older, got to know more, became aware of the world, and I became someone else. This song for me, represents growing up, becoming aware of how terrible but also how beautiful the world is. Funerals are all about that, memories and representing. That's why I'll have this playing at my funeral.
The game, the concept, and the soundtrack is perfectly fitting for everyone, at all ages. Kids feel adult, teenagers feel relaxed, adults doesn't feel alone very much, elderys feel young.
+RogersBase Gotta be that synth, man. Maybe I'll do some Earthbound stuff so I can say "hey dawg i heard you like earthbound so I earthbounded your earthbound so you can earthbound while you earthbound"

+insaneintherainmusic I have nearly the exact same experiences with Wild World as you, and because of that, I must beg you to play New Leaf. I got it earlier this year (A bit late too) and experienced that exact same child like wonder with Wild World. The game is absolute magic and is tied with Wild World for my 2nd favorite game of all time.
+Owen Gaffney *Yes!* It's not obtrusive to the gameplay but at the same time it's catchy, and borders the line between really melodic music and elevator music very well.
I appreciate you making this, and I read your nostalgic note in the comments; I went through the same thing. Animal Crossing has ALWAYS been a home away from home for me, a place I could go when real life was too stressful. It was fun and theraputic for me. I'm so glad it had the same effect on you! Thank you for covering this piece, it's still one of my favorite Nintendo tunes, and this has to be in my top ten favorite covers you've done! I love this so much.
I have a love story involving with this amazing theme. A theme that means a lot to me, really. It was February of 2019, and myself, being an artist, loves to listen to Animal Crossing theme. I was pretty familiar of them. Despite the fact I never had my hands on the first two. This theme came up, and it was really calming, I imagined being in my own little village with cherry blossom trees everywhere. Then came a visitor in my town. She was beautiful, her dress matched the trees, and her pretty hair flowing with the wind. It was a classmate of mines, we didn’t talk much, but only time from time, it was distanced. I always thought she was the cute girl in her friend group, she seemed really kindhearted and full of care! Yet, I never knew I felt like that way before having this experience in mind. I always have known her personality was amazing... The next day, I saw her in the morning (we were in the same homeroom). From there, I realized she was really beautiful too. I gained feelings for her later that day. From the next few months, I was battling against my motivation, I could do it! I’m confessing my feelings!! Ehh.. Maybe not... etc. When I convinced myself to confront her after watching Avengers: End Game in April. With a video game type of pick up line, because I knew she loves video games, and I had a great feeling that she loves Animal Crossing too. I sent her that, and she told me that she’d think about it. We were both the shy people. It took her a week for an answer, which I was confused on why. But it didn’t matter, she said yes!!! Oh boy, I was so confused because I highly doubted she’d say yes. She later then told me that she did gain feelings back for me after 3 days of myself confronting her. The crazy part was that she did own Animal Crossing, specifically Wild World!!! The theme it came from! Later in our relationship, I bought my girlfriend and myself Animal Crossing: New Horizons on day one. Since we were quarantined, and we couldn’t be together, we played Animal Crossing together, EVERYDAY!! It was an amazing experience, I had such an amazing time with my girlfriend! Fast forward, we are now trying other games other than Animal Crossing. I can’t express how much of an amazing girlfriend my girlfriend is!! She’s a fun, sweet, caring, and beautiful person!! There’s no one in this world that can replace her! We’re almost in 2 years in our relationship, and really excited for what the future would bring us!! I hope that some day, we’d marry each other under blossom trees, and slow dance to this theme! I genuinely believe that blossom tress and Animal Crossing symbolizes our love! I love her so much!!! 🥰
Your music is always in the rain because that rain represents the tears of nostalgia you make us shed while we listen to your god-like music. Animal Crossing will always hold a special place in my heart, and that place took over my being when I listened to this. Thank you for bringing that sense of nostalgia and joy to me again. I haven't felt this way in a very long time, so thank you for the music and joy.
just got this game about a week ago, love the little references to different themes in the game, like the townhall theme at 2:54 this whole thing makes me smile, im really glad i got this game! super disappointed i havent heard this until like 5 years later. but pleased i have it in my life now
YES CARLOS! Hundreds of nails hit on the head here. In my childhood my emotions were never changed by this song, but now that you've jazzed it up and made it like a sweet, sweet ballad, I can't help but feel sad and nostalgic. Nice choice on using the electric piano in this arrangement. I also heard you sneak in some of the Town Hall theme at 2:52, goes in perfectly with the solo. We also have the same story: the bulky blue DS, ACWW being the first game, probably just skipping through villager text... Anyways, before I ramble for too long, this is by far one of your best covers yet. I am always happy to see you improving as a musician. Triple thumbs up for me.
+CorruptionCat "hundred of nails""_lmao_ I don't quite remember how I stumbled on the Town Hall theme at 2:52, but it's always fun to put little inside jokes in covers :) And the bulky blue DS rules.
This is great, I grew up with this. It really makes me feel like I'm living my childhood again, playing animal crossing with my friends during a nice sunny morning.
There's just something about this song. Every single time I hear that main little melody, I can't help but smile even though I've never played animal crossing! You did a really great job of adding your own spin, but not straying too far from the original glory of the tune. Great cover and great way to kick off year 4!
insaneintherainmusic update: watched this again just now and really did start crying. Hard. A good cry, though. It feels like it was just last week I was a little kid making my friends fall into pitfalls and getting mad at Resetti for taking up so much of my time. Ridiculous how time flies. (My turn to get sappy) The way you arranged it made it feel like a “welcome home” into the warm world that was and still is Animal Crossing. Thank you once again for everything you do.
This game was my childhood, I have such fond memories playing it. I started tearing up watching this as the memories just came flowing back, thanks for this blast to the past my man :,)

Jesus, everything you do is amazing. Seriously, the sheer quality of every one of your pieces is unbelievable. The level to which you make every piece your own, while still paying homage to the best qualities of the original is amazing.
Don't think I didn't catch your Post Office ref. I'm happy you picked a game close to you, let alone one of my favorite games in middle school to binge, for the first of your Year 4. You've grown as a person in all that time I've known ya, your wants and ideas and flexibility, let alone your musicianship. It's a wonderful arrangement, but it's an even better fore-telling of what kind of musician you wanna be. A GUD ONE.
The older AC titles never really hooked me but recently I sold my soul to New Leaf. Im glad to read that this game was such a part of your life and I by now also have a big place in my heart reserved for it. You can simply feel the love that was put into the series. Really amazing soundtrack. Even more awesome the way you put it. I probably say it every time, but I love your work. Keep it up and thanks for sharing that experience with us
Jesus Christ Carlos, honestly one of my favourite covers of yours. I totally agree with your sentiment on how Animal Crossing is about growing up, but I feel like it is also primarily about keeping your inner child with you, and not forgetting where you came from. Throughout the game, you may progress, (look at your Town's Tree in NL) but you will always remember sitting on the massive tree, reminiscing about where you came from, and remaining humble about your roots.Animal Crossing remains dear to my heart like you, and this music really lifts me up. Also, SHEETZ PLS????
+Quantaxis Didn't think about the "inner child" part! I think that's a common theme in a lot of Nintendo's games, actually, since most of them are made (or used to be made) with the child demographic in mind. I think when you play a game that was intended for a child as an older person, you're able to hold on to your childhood just a little bit, and maybe view elements of the game from a different perspective as an older person.
+insaneintherainmusic That's very true about how your perspective can change with games as you age. One beautiful thing about Nintendo games is that although the primary demographic of many games (such as Mario) can be targeted to children, many age groups play those games. That is the primary case with Animal Crossing for me. I played Wild World when I was around 8 years old, but now when I revisit that when I'm 16, I can not only see new perspectives of the game I didn't understand before but still enjoy it just as much as I did back then. Also, don't feel bad about screwing up your ds screen, I ended up using a butter knife as a stylus at one point playing Phantom Hourglass...
You are on my top-5 Internet Gods list. You make me discover my first Nintendo games once again. Thank you, for your music and also for sharing the sheets, as an aspirant harpist and established nerd I have learned to be thankful to those who share. (even though I have trouble finding something playable on the harp. Sigh.)
ERMAHGERD the nostalgia right now! I remember getting this on an R4 chip because my cousin had it. It was great! I love my little black ds lite so godamn much.
+TonsOfPax I've been formulating that ending slate for a while now. My goal was to keep it unobtrusive to the viewer while still giving them relevant links to click, so I put in content from the same game series that I cover, since people will most likely be interested in stuff from the same series.
so many good memories with that game too. I loved how smooth it was, letting you play at your pace. I took the same pleasure with Animal Crossing 3DS, and musics took part of the expereience. Good job and great arrangement pal btw
Man, oh man, man (I said man 3 times right there). This cover just shows how talented you are. I really hope you take music a long way into the future. Oh, and I'm the "Bari Sax" guy...
I've played and loved this game so much back in the day, this music feels so good and hits just right to the heart ♥ Thank you so much for making this!!

This is such a joy to listen to. What a great start to your fourth year! Animal Crossing is one of my favorite series, and this song is especially nostalgic to me, so thank you for giving it a fantastic cover! I love how the song progressively matures/develops as it goes along. Also, is it just me or did you give a subtle nod to Kapp'n's Song at 4:01?
+MinishMelodies There wasn't an intentional reference at 4:01 or anything, maybe you're just hearing things ;) A lot of people find this song quite nostalgic, so I thought I'd up the ante and really smack people in their faces with some nostalgia bombs.
Thank you so much. I have band auditions tomorrow, I was stressing out, the start of this song calmed me down. Thank. You. (Edit, I passed and moved on to the higher band. Couldn’t have done it without this song calming me down. Thanks again!)

It's a wonderful arrangement, but it's an even better fore-telling of what kind of musician you wanna be. A GUD ONE.
+SwigglesRP Thanks dad!
+insaneintherainmusic Wow You have a great dad *insaneintherainmusic!*
He was conceived in Berklee too!
What is Berklee?
Where what state or is it not in usa
I dug the little bit of the Town Hall theme in the middle of the synth solo. Nice touch.
I really like how that one fit in, thanks!
Sigh.)
+chacha78150 Wow, thanks so much for the kind words
2:52 nice town hall reference ;)
Even though I havent played the game in years I can still remember the iconic notes from the times I used to play it
Cool and suave, and as you wrote, there's a beautiful sense of developing complexity and progression. Truly incredible work.
This video is how I found the channel, and it's criminal how few views it has considering it's one of your best works imo
+t17389z Sharing the video with your friends is always important :p
Ok! You stole my heart! Give it back!!
ERMAHGERD the nostalgia right now! I remember getting this on an R4 chip because my cousin had it. It was great! I love my little black ds lite so godamn much.
OW the feels! they're crushing my soul!
Ending slate on point. Such a feel good song as well, amazing work!
+TonsOfPax I've been formulating that ending slate for a while now. My goal was to keep it unobtrusive to the viewer while still giving them relevant links to click, so I put in content from the same game series that I cover, since people will most likely be interested in stuff from the same series.
You did a very nice job of it! It fits well with the video, doesn't seem out of place, and is relevant. You did well
so many good memories with that game too.
I've played and loved this game so much back in the day, this music feels so good and hits just right to the heart ♥ Thank you so much for making this!!
you got me right in the nostalgia bone.
whoa! this deserves way more views!
For some reason I feel like this cover would fit perfectly in Earthbound. It just gives that vibe. It's glorious.
+TangerineOmega Gotta be that synth, the synth sound I used is veeery similar to some of the synths used in Earthbound. Maybe I'll bring some Earthbound stuff to the channel soon!
Holy fuck. Just hearing that melody line done so masterfully by you sent shivers down my spine...fuck it really takes me back
the nostalgia got me hard here. nice work my guy
many thanks!
So good! Love it man. I'm with ya, this game was my childhood.
So so so awesome! My new jam!
Amazing once again. This was my first AC game, friend got it for me long ago. I was like "dude wtf I'm not 5" but now it's one of my favorites. XD
I was playing this game since i was 5. :D
+NavySpheal I think I was...9 or 10 when I first got Animal Crossing.
I love the music from Animal Crossing so much! :') Now this makes me want to play! Great work Carlos! I'm always so impressed at you playing that Jazz music! :D
+gabocarina96 Animal Crossing is a great series, I was very happy to see it included in Smash this time around :)
Same here! :D
I went into this hoping it would sound like "A Remark You Made" by Weather Report. And this came pretty darn close!
That's what it reminded me of immediately, too!
This so sweet.
killed it with the post office
wowwwwww i have chills at my desk :O
OMG this is so underrated!!
The..The...The nostalgia.. it's making my ear's cry... or either that, my ear's are diseased :D
Fantastic as always!
You have a great feel for the jazz style
Another beautiful cover. Keep it up!
ik this is a year after this was made, but this is the best cover I have ever heard
better late than never dude, thanks so much :D

This is brilliant!
This is amazing
wow. amazing.
This was amazing, man! One of my first DS games and it's crazy that's it's almost 10 years old. Great way to start your year 4! :)
Thanks for making such great music. 😁
Dude, this is so beautiful
+BigCrunchy Munchie Thanks :D
You are a wonderful musician!
This is amazing.
This is very lovely!
+緑凛(Reika) Thanks for the kind words :)
I have no idea why I didn't find this channel any sooner!
Me neither. Now you've got a bunch of videos to watch, am i right?

+Juan Camilo Alzate Yusti Thanks for listening, man!
Far out. I think I just found the best channel on youtube.
Thanks for checking the channel out :D
Great cover by the way ! and really pleasant piano solo ;)
+charles THOMASSE Glad you liked it! I'm pretty proud of that synth solo :D
I've never seen that weird knob on the piano used so effectively
Thank you so much. I have band auditions tomorrow, I was stressing out, the start of this song calmed me down. Thank. You. (Edit, I passed and moved on to the higher band. Couldn’t have done it without this song calming me down. Thanks again!)
I'm happy the audition went well!
Brings me back to a simpler time
So soothing!
Thank you
Subbed!
Congrats on 15k subs!
This tune was meant for a jazz arrange. Very nice!
