Mike, I am not a Jew but....over 30 years ago I stumbled upon the Worldwide church of God ministry when I was seeking to know God thru the Bible. On my own I had read Gen. thru Duet. and was very concerned as I was not keeping the law. The WW Church of God helped feed my concerns and I became a very legalistic new believer, if not in deed certainly in thought and I was always fearful as I knew I was not keeping parts of the law. I was a typical new Christian who never read her whole Bible. It wasn't until 5 years later during that I fell in love with God by reading the first 5 books of the New Testament but when I read Romans, I bawled. Then I truly saw the law as it was meant to be. To show me my sin, to show me God's holiness, to show me the depth of the love of God in Christ, to show me how truly gracious is the grace and mercy of God, to show me how inadequate I am to save myself. I was suckered into the Hebrew roots movement and their thinking because my “friends” lied to me and said they were Christian but they were not Christian but Jews. I had just came to faith and thought their way of living was normal for a Christian. Until I started reading the Bible for myself and got all confused. They deceived me into thinking a Christian must keep the law of Moses. It wasn’t until they screamed at me for doing laundry on a sabbath that I realized something was wrong and realized these people didn’t have the kind of fruit that a Christian should have. I’m so glad I found your teachings, and love how you go verse by verse and explain things so well and I see your love for the law and the Jews. You seem genuine and in my opinion the Hebrew roots movement is a deceptive movement and totally unbiblical. Someone of another faith or spirit are not our brothers in my opinion and should be rebuked in love, as your doing.
I don't know about the Hebrew roots movement. I'm sure they are sharing some truth and keeping the law is one of them. It's the only way not to live in sin and there's no other way around this. Truth shouldn't be determined by incidents that may happened between "believers", truth should stand on it's own without them. You were screamed at for doing laundry on the sabbath. Maybe that was wrong. Tell me, were you told before you did the laundry that you weren't supposed to do laundry on the sabbath? Do you know the incident that happened in Numbers15, a man gathering sticks on the sabbath? Yahweh gave him the death sentence because he didn't obey. Adam and Eve were put out the garden because they didn't obey. The scriptures says, 'the wages of sin is death'. Romans1:18-32 talks about how the wrath of Yahweh is revealed from heaven and how people are worthy of death for doing things contrary to the law. One day these things will be carried out. The point is, the law is perfect, Psalms19:7 and it is the truth, Psalms119:142. The Messiah followed it in order not to sin. Sin is a grave deed, so much so that the Messiah had to sacrifice His life for it to save us from sin. Do you think His death that brought about the saving grace of Yahweh now gives us a license to live in the very thing He died for? There is NO SCRIPTURE in the entire bible that will lead one to the understanding that we don't have to keep the law that Yahweh gave to Moses and of course I mean the righteousness of the law, which simply means doing that which is right, His commandments. Romans6:1,2 shall we sin that grace may abound? Yahshua told the woman caught in adultery, 'go and sin no more'. "Go" is grace, "sin no more" is keep the law. The righteousness of the law and grace are not in opposition to one another. It's the law of sin and death that grace is in opposition to. Paul's letters is a test for the Gentile world, to see if they will keep Yahweh's law or not. That's why Paul's letters are written the way they are, 2Peter3:15,16 they are not easy to understand. Without the wisdom of Yahweh that was given to Paul, people will continue to destroy themselves, especially when they act like they don't see Paul saying emphatically that we should keep the law. They concentrate on the passages where it seems Paul is releasing us from the law, which is certainly not the case.
If they reject Jesus as Messiah, then they are not Christian. Our messianic congregation believes that the only way to salvation is through faith alone by grace alone in Yeshua alone. Blessings, brother.
Jenny Wickman what you read was Paul's epistle and just because it's part of your bible it does not make it Scripture. Try coming up with a few verses from the gospels that say the Law is finish when Jesus dies and resurrects?

We are justified (saved from the penalty of sin) through faith by grace in the atoning sacrifice of Yeshua the Messiah. If anyone says otherwise, they preach a different gospel of salvation. However, sanctification, being set apart for God's use, is a different matter. We do work to become sanctified. How do you suppose that is done on our part?

Thanks, Mike. I've listened to this series and it has been so helpful. I have a Christian friend who is involved with a Torah group (she is not Jewish). I have seen her thinking drastically change about the law of Moses. She is super passionate that Christians should observe the Sabbath on Saturday because that's what Jesus did and that's what the Torah says. I do my best to tell her that if she feels strongly about observing the Sabbath on Saturday, then, she should! She has also started thinking that if Jews follow the Torah, they are saved. Anyway, I am going to TRY to get her to watch your videos.
That's very caring of you but you should also leave her to discover for herself why following the Torah does not "save" you, but it does lead to life and blessing if they do them. You also may find it useful learning this truth that Christianity in general confuses Paul's admonishing to the Galatians. Sending her to Pastor Mike is a bad idea for this reason.

I studied with the Hebrew Roots groups for several years, and came out of that some time ago. I like the way you explain that Mike Winger, I'm with ya brother!!!
@@ilovelife18From what I experienced was Sabbath keeping, and reading and studying Torah portions. I was focused on keeping the law of Moses which I never was successful at, but keeping my focus on Jesus Christ I am keeping the law of love. I kept trying to get the group of Hebrew roots brethren I was studying with to go beyond the Torah to the new testament, but no they didn't want to. I kept reading the new testament over, and over again, and truly discovered we are under a new covenant, a better covenant, and what Mike Winger says in this video I believe the bible backs him up. Nobody can keep the law flawlessly except Jesus Christ, I will stay focused on what he did for me. My salvation comes through him, not keeping the law through him. I can't keep the law through him, but he kept the law for me because I couldn't. That is what I believe, and salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone. I believe the whole bible from Geneses through Revelation. The Old Testament points to Jesus Christ.
Jesus fulfilled the Law Just read 1 Timothy and ignore these people who have confidence in the flesh. These people creep in trying to put you back under sin and condensation brought back by the law. Here are some verses below hope they help. John 7:19 19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Great series Mike. I too have been looking into 119 ministries, New2Torah and Monte Judah, their teaching and eschatology. A couple comments on that. Hebrew Roots (HR) groups look to the teaching of the Torah as the center piece of the end. They see Ezk 37, the holy spirit renewal, fulfilled in the end times, not at Pentecost. The HR guys do not acknowledge the unfaithfulness of the house of Judah and predicted judgement, scattering, fulfillment of prophecy of 70AD. They futurize everything (prophecy verses) and create a construct by proof texting. As for the Law, instead of what they believe, what does the Word say about the Law? Why was the law given? 1. To show the character/glory of God which shows us we are sinners, a school master. 2. The law was given as the conditional requirements of the Mosaic covenant (Old C) 3. Given to express saving-faith in God by OT saints, not to save by works, but as faith and love to God. Israel failed because they were too week because of the power of sin thru the law. 4. The law maps the perfect path to the Father which only Jesus would keep perfectly. 5. The law was never able to save, but only point by symbol and shadow to Messiah. 6. ** God required Israel to worship him in the OT covenant and ended at Calvary. Dan (25-27) messiah puts and END to sacrifice. 7. NT believing Jews were finally told to leave the observance of OT law and embrace the New Covenant in Hebrews, the better covenant. 4 years later the temple is destroyed and Jews forced to end sacrifices. What should NT gentiles do with the law? We should obey it, but obey by the spirit of Christ. Don't murder and don't hate your brother. Follow Jesus as he taught, law of Love as Mike said. I think observing the dietary laws have health benefits. Circumcision was a sign and seal to Abraham that Israel will be multiplied. Under the New Covenant, that sign and seal is seen in Baptism for all children of Abraham. Jesus was baptized (As an Adult) to fufill all righteousness, set the precedent of Baptism in Water and Spirit by John, resulting in service and ministry as we should follow. The Law remains to remind us God is Holy and we need to repent and obey that law to Christ's highest intent. Sabbath in the 10 commandments are unique. It was established at creation. included in the 10 and OT law. When NT saints don't rest and reflect observantly, we suffer and grow distant from God. We break all 10 commandments, each of us. But the requirements of God upon NT is to be done by the Spirit and be successful for his praise. The Law is required for salvation, and Jesus kept it for us. The Law is required for us to transform in sanctification and the Holy Spirit directs and leads us to obey, by faith in praise and gratitude. But NT saints are not required to obey the law by OT terms, but by NT terms.
@@larrym2969 - Larry- I don’t have any specific resources. My views have evolved as a believer and follower of Messiah for 40’years. I was a reformed Calvinist for almost for 27 years, but moved on years ago. On Wordpress, I have a blog - the Un-reformed disciple. I did a deep dive in the end times which had me look into the seventh day Adventist, and thus got into thinking about the Law. I have been studying this for a long while - being challenged by a Torah observer and in all your parts you have gone over EVERY point I had found and added all the extra context I required.. so Thankyou so much. I have come to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit entering us is the “law being written in our heart” because He guides and convicts us to reveal sin which is previously what the law did for us. But since the Holy Spirit is with in us we don’t need a outside law- it’s INSIDE us now! And now it’s about walking in the spirit just as you said! Thankyou for the confirmation ♥️
You are right that he puts his law in our hearts. I remember years ago feeling guilty everytime I ate porkchops. I thought it was weird to feel that way until I learned that it was the instructions of God that it was not a clean meat for us. I stopped eating all pork immediately and never felt deprived of that ever since. Every thing God ever instructed is meant for something. Its our job to find out what is the law written on our hearts. Its not different than what God originally spelled out but we gain understanding when we worship(humble ourselves) in spirit and in truth). We cannot understand the Spirit of God without the Scripture to confirm it. Truth never changes.
@@lorijeleti7798 Are you a Jew? Those dietary laws were given *only* to the Jews. (There may have been some health and hygiene reasons behind them, but they were for the Hebrew people.) There were 3 parts to the Mosaic law: *Moral, Civil,* and *Ceremonial.* The moral part was based on the holy nature of God, the civil was how to relate to others, the ceremonial was the culture and practices, including temple ceremonies, feasts and festivals, diet and clothing restrictions which distinguished them from other nations. We are not under obligation to observe the Mosaic law. We are under obligation to walk according to the Holy Spirit. "But if you are led by the Spirit, *you are not under the law."* Galatians 5:18 (The Mosaic law.)
In his letters, the apostle Paul warned the believers in the churches in Rome and Galatia not to place their hope for salvation in the works of the law. To the Roman Christians, he said, “For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his [God’s] sight” (Romans 3:20). To the Galatian believers: “We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (Galatians 2:16; cf. 3:5). To justify is to declare righteous. The “works of the law” are the actions performed to fulfill the Mosaic Law found in the first five books of the Old Testament. Keeping the Sabbath, being circumcised (the issue before the Galatian churches), eating “clean” foods, and other ceremonies are powerless to justify us in the sight of God. In addition, following the morality of the law (not murdering, not committing adultery, not stealing) is insufficient to make us right in God’s eyes. No act on the part of sinful creatures can result in God’s declaring them to be righteous in His sight. Why can’t the works of the law save us? First, because the works of the law can never be done completely. The standard is perfection, and that means “good enough” won’t pass muster. Paul explains to the Galatians: “All who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law’” (Galatians 3:10, emphasis added). James further explains that anyone who offends in just one point is guilty of breaking the whole of the law (James 2:10). There are over six hundred individual commandments in the Mosaic Law, and breaking just one of them one time renders a person guilty. No one but Jesus ever kept the law perfectly. Second, the law was never intended to justify anyone; it was given to show us our sinfulness and to reveal the perfect holiness of the Lawgiver (Romans 3:20). Without the law, we would not know what sin is (Romans 7:7). The law is holy because God is holy. Just as a straightedge reveals the crookedness of a line, so the law of God exposes our lack of holiness. No one measures up to God’s standard (Romans 3:10). The law cannot justify; it can only condemn. No one can stand before a holy God on the basis of his own efforts, even if those efforts include a hearty attempt at keeping the works of the law. If the works of the law justify no one, and serve only to reveal our own sinfulness and our desperate state, what are we to do? The Bible offers the only solution to the problem of sin: “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe” (Romans 3:21-22). This is why “the just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17, NKJV). We can only be declared righteous “by faith apart from works of the law” (Romans 3:28), and that faith must rest in the only Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). To continue to attempt to earn a place in heaven through the works of the law is to ignore the sacrifice of Christ: “If righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21).
A mature Christian full of love WANTS to be obedient to God, by being obedient to The Holy Spirit and keeping His Commandments! If you don't keep His Commandments you're walking in rebellion, which the Bible says is as the sin of witchcraft!

You should know that the Hebrew word torah can also mean instruction or refer to the scroll the text is written on. Since neither of the verses you quote are in the TORAH, it is a stretch to assume they are law. 2 Timothy 3:16

Whose laws do you think that Christ followed and obeyed???? There was no new testament at the time, the OT was quoted constantly throughout the NT, only so many don't understand because they have never read it. Jesus followed the law of moses, not to be saved, but because He loved His father.
@@jamiequinn2003 did you even watch through these four videos? He was very fair, very thoughtful and thorough. Yes, Jesus kept all of the law given through Moses perfectly, and was the only one to do so. He came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. If he abolished it, we could not read it today, it would not exist. He said nothing, not a dot or titl, and letter would be taken until all had been fulfilled, and until everything has passed away. I know people don't like when others say that since it has been fulfilled, it is now abolished, and their reason is because of that next part. In that day, it won't exist at all. It still is here though, so that we know the history, so we can learn from it, so we can know how things started and how we arrived to now. Also, Jesus was ripping the Pharisees when he said that, because they were adding to and taking away from that law. But Jesus did indeed fulfill it because no one else could. After doing so, he has become the new high priest, of a different priesthood not mentioned by Moses. And why would there be reason unless the first covenant/testament(law of Moses) found fault? In saying, "the new covenant in my blood", and there being reason for a better, the first has become old. The new testament as we have it today, was gradually written and put together even then. The Apostles gradually learned, years after Jesus ascended and they recieved the Holy Spirit, that this plan of salvation was also for the Gentiles, going back to when Jesus said, "to all the world". Up to then it was only to the Jews. The believing Jews were persecuted by the unbelieving Jews. This is seen through the 4 Gospels, and through Acts, and continues with all the letters. God revealed to Peter, to Paul, to the early church that things were changing, and the Gentiles were not required to keep the law of Moses. This was covered in Acts 15, and more than a handful of other places. In different places it talks about those Jewish believers who taught that you must keep the law of Moses to be saved, and in other cases, said that they must keep the law anyway, even without it being for salvation. Paul rebukes such teachings, and the teachers. Do you not hear the law? That it is not of faith, but whoever lives in it must do it? And, cursed is the one who does not keep Everything in the law. Read Acts, Romans, Galatians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Timothy, and there's still more. We literally can't keep the law now even if we wanted to. The Jews couldn't keep it when they could theoretically could keep it. God doesn't give any allowance, any exception that says just do your best to keep as much of the law I gave through Moses as you can. If anything, Jesus said, don't do what the Pharisees do, but do what they teach. If we are to live in the law, we are required to keep all of it. We would come under the same oath that Israel took in Deuteronomy 27 and 28, and agree to the conditional blessings and curses.

@@sourmilkministries9445 And yet you can only imitate. You can not live as Jesus lived, and keep the law as He did. No one has. The law given through Moses, was given because of transgressions. The law made no one righteous. Have you not heard, cursed is the one who does not do everything written in the law? And the law is not by faith, but whoever lives in it must do it? There is no exception from God saying that we can try to follow the law given through Moses, because God gave it to Israel, and that we don't have to do it all. Again and again, God says, keep all if it. In Deuteronomy 27 and 28, even through 30, you can read how the Israelites after being given that law, swore under oath, that they agreed to the terms, that they would come under the conditional blessings, or the curses, that were dependent upon whether they kept everything, or not. If you try to live the law of Moses because Jesus taught it(to fellow Jews also under that law), then you come under that oath as well I believe. Read what Paul says in Galatians and Hebrews. Read Acts 15. The Gentiles are not required, were never commanded to obey the law given through Moses. The Jews wanted the Gentiles to, but God didn't. Peter, James, Paul, they say, why do you tempt God to put them under the yoke which neither we(Jews) nor our Fathers could bear? God has purified their hearts by faith, and made no difference between us and them. They agreed to instruct the Gentiles to abstain from only 4 things, so as not to offend the Jewish believers, so that they may have fellowship. And also Gentiles were known for those things. The Gentiles after hearing the letter rejoiced. Acts 15. As far as verse 21, it isn't saying they should follow the law, otherwise it makes null the purpose of the whole chapter, there would have been no disputing, no council to consider the matters, Paul, Peter and James wouldn't have said what they said, everyone wouldn't have come into agreement. It is saying that since Moses is preached in every synagogue in every city(Jewish cities), most Jews were brought up in it, we should tell the Gentiles to abstain from these 4 things. Almost everything I wrote in replying last was Scripture. And it remains true that no one can keep the law given through Moses. No one but Jesus could, even when it was being practiced in it's entirety. But now, it is impossible to follow it even if you wanted to. There is no temple, no tabernacle, no priesthood, no sacrifices and offerings. Besides the fact that Jesus became the sacrifice once and for all, and the one who would dare offer a blood sacrifice to God should fear, since he is rejectimg and disregarding God's perfect sacrifice, His spotless Lamb. It also remains true that if you want to live by the law of Moses, you must keep all of it. Yes, 1 John 2:6 says that. But 1 John, doesn't say that we Gentiles should follow the Mosaic law. Yes, Jesus walked, and lived in the Law of Moses. But How did Jesus walk? I have read and listened through a number of books many times, and have read or listened to each book in the new testament I think once or twice minimum. Without the law, you wouldn’t need grace. It’s the LAW which reveals sin. Forget righting too since that’s in OT, and the Ten Commandments. Jesus lived the law perfectly. Jesus is TORAH. Our sins were nailed to the CROSS NOT the law. Paul was all things to ALL men. He was a Pharisee. He obeyed the law.

The 'Law of Christ' is not complicated. Paul tells us what it is in Gal 5:24-6:2 'Those who have crucified the flesh with it's (sinful) passions and desires' are WALKING IN THE SPIRIT. If you see a brother NOT walking in the Spirit, you need to restore them gently. And this IS THE LAW OF CHRIST. In Gal 5:18-21 Paul tells us that those who are 'under the Law' are those who are NOT KEEPING THE LAW. Instead of keeping the Law they are transgressing it. They are guilty of WALKING IN THE FLESH by committing adultery, fornication, idolatry, hatred, uncleanness etc SO If you don't want to be UNDER THE LAW crucify your flesh, STOP WALKING IN THE FLESH. Stop breaking the Law and instead start keeping it. Be ready to be a watchman for your brothers if you see them breaking the Law i.e. walking in the flesh, AND THIS IS THE LAW OF CHRIST.
@Child of The Covenant You have misunderstood me and Paul then. Paul is not teaching that there is some new Law of Christ that we need to follow. In Gal 5:42-6:2 Paul is just teaching us that keeping Gods Law is keeping the Law of Christ. Keeping the Torah requires us to crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit (i.e. walk in the Spirit = keeping the Torah because we are subject to it Rom 8:1-7). Those who are walking in the Spirit (KEEPING THE TORAH) are keeping the Law of Christ, BECAUSE He is the law giver, the Torah IS HIS LAW. in Gal 5 Paul specifically teaches us the keep the Law of Chrsit in this way; when we see a brother walking off the path, by sinning, the Law of Christ requires us to go to them and so bring them back to the path ..... as James teaches us in Jas 5:19-20

I keep seeing you in all the comments of these videos. Torah does not have to automatically mean the law given through Moses. Torah = Law. But neither Law, nor Torah, define what is in it. There was the Torah given through Moses. There was the Torah given to Adam and Even. There was the Torah given to Noah. All of those Torahs were of God. If the Torah of Moses was all that was absolutely perfect to God for all people at all times, why would God contradict that Law, and the Law He gave to Noah when God told Noah he may eat Any animal on the Whole Earth as the fruit of the tree, as any plant or vegetable? Why woild God command Noah to do something that was sinful in God's eyes? Unless it wasn't inherently sinful, but rather it was what God told him to do, and what he was free to do. God can't contradict himself. Therefore, there must be a Law, a Torah outside of all three of those Torahs. You are ignorant to believe that Saul/Paul was wealthy and had power and so much influence when he wrote his letters. He wrote his letters after God, Jesus Himself changed him, when He stopped Saul/Paul on the way to Damascus by blinding him and those with him by a great light, brighter than the sun. Those who accompanied him were only blinded temporarily, so that they were able to guide Saul. Saul was a Jew of Jews, circumcised the 8th day, born of the tribe of Benjamin, more zealous than any of brethren in that he persecutedand wasted the church of Christ, he was a Pharisee of high respect and authority. Saul was blind for 3 days, God told him that a man would come and pray for him, and he would recieve back his sight. And God told that other man to go to this place and pray for Saul, who had been persecuting the church. Saul/Paul almost immediately started preaching Christ, that He was crucified and rose again, in the synagogues. The Jews were all amazed and bewildered, wasn't this Saul who persecuted the name of Jesus and those who believed in Him? The same Jews who loved and respected him, became the ones who desired to kill him time and time again. Saul/Paul gave up Everything, his power, money, respect. Paul wrote that he counts everything as a loss, for Christ. Read through the book of Acts, and Romans, and the other letters. You talk soo much, and yet you don't listen. Both Jeremiah and Ezekiel give us prophetic statements of the instruction remaining in being observed. Jeremiah 31:33 and Ezekiel 36:27 reference. "I will put my instructions in their inward parts - write them in their hearts. I shall cause you to walk in my instructions and guard my right rulings and shall do rhem. These statements are given with in the understanding that this will be under the New Covenant, our salvation.

I want to piggy-back off of the first question asked during the live stream about "why would we call them brothers and not false teachers?" In part 1 of their “What is the Gospel” series they seem to conflate “the gospel” with “the evidence of salvation” which is obedience. To the HRM, obedience is the gospel message. They say many alarming quotes in part 1 of the video like: 33:03 “The one who is doing the commandments is righteous because he is obeying the commands. Just as John says. 1 John 3:7. Note that [John] doesn’t say we are righteous because we are in Christ, instead he says the one who practices righteousness, meaning the commandments, is righteous as Yeshua is righteous.” ----- I thought Christ is the one who makes us righteous. Their statement just makes Jesus a good example, but not the Savior. There are many other concerning statements he makes about what the gospel is, even saying that the feasts are part of the gospel. He does exactly what Paul warned not to do in Galatians 1. 119 Ministries and the Hebrew Roots movement preach a distorted false gospel, and seem like modern day Judaizers. They would have never received the right-hand of fellowship like Paul did in Gal. 2:7-9. Will you please look into their version of the gospel more, and reconsider calling them brothers. They might be sincere, but they’re not preaching the true gospel. I was literally told yesterday by a person in this false teaching, that while I might have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus, that I'm not saved. He went on to claim his righteousness comes from being obedient to the Torah and that he follows Jesus by keeping Torah. He doesn't know scripture- because he didn't argue from scripture. He just wanted every Christian to know who are not keeping the law that they were going to hell. Some of them actually believe that they will be the ones in tribulation who will be killing the "sinners" ( referring to the saints) for the name of God. These people are not our brethren. None of them are.
Mike, I am a former Messianic congregation leader. I was saved in 1973 and got involved in the Messianic movement in 1990. I was blessed by God by not being caught up in the teachings you have been speaking about. I agree with your teaching and ideas on the scriptures. I have taught these same principles as well. The problem with trying to follow the law is that much of it can't be followed because there is no Temple. That too was an act of God and the display of His desire for us all, Jew and Gentile, to be under the blood and grace of Jesus.
Are you implying that those of us in the HRM reject the Grace and Blood of Yeshua? I'm saved 100% by my faith in that Grace and Blood. And, I demonstrate that by my obedience to His Commandments. Great stuff. I completely disagree with some things you say, but I completely agree that nothing we disagree about is an issue of separation or issue of fellowship :) I think you are probably the only person I have found that openly discusses this without throwing either side under the bus.
For example, at 25:40 Mike discusses "under the law" and claims that the definition of that is "the Jews". Nowhere in the text does it say that. But if Mike would keep reading the text instead of taking that small section out of its context, the text clearly says in English "the doers of the law will be justified, not the hearers. The gentiles who are doers of the law are justified even though they don't have it" Clearly, "under the law" means someone who has transgressed it, "for sin is transgression of the law" 1Jn 3:4 The difference between Jew and gentile there, is those that have versus have not the law. Being "under the law" clearly is being explained in that chapter as transcending nationality or knowledge of the law. The chapter clearly explains that everyone will be judged by the law. The advantage that the Jews had at that time as explained by Paul is that they had the oracles- they knew the instructions, the definition of sin.
That's what the whole 3rd chapter of Romans starts out with as the pretext. Then he says we are "under grace" with which I somewhat disagree as well, because Paul clearly asks beginning in the 6th chapter, "should we continue to transgress the law so that grace may abound? God forbid!"
Paul reiterates in chapter 6 verse 14 that "under the law" means that "transgression of the law has dominion over you". And verse 15- "shall we continue to sin (transgress the law) because we are not under the law but under grace?" Anyway, I digress. Those are just some things I disagree with. I'm not one to argue or debate anymore. I agree with Mike in the sense of, by dieing in baptism as a symbol WITH the Messiah we are new creatures and there is no longer the death penalty for transgression, "there is therefore no more condemnation". Also I agree that our Messiah taught the heart of the Torah, not just the letter.

The two Cheribim and the Flaming Sword guarding Eden's Gate are for a purpose. Papa split the Red Sea for a reason. Joshua saw the ARK cut the river Jordan for a reason. Both EliYah and EliSha struck the Jordan causing a pushing of water this way and that way for a reason. Paul, emmisary of Yahusha, Jesus, said "beware of those who worship angels" for a reason. Yahusha is like that flaming sword. He Is found between the LIVING WATERS, Old and New Testament. Understand His Word through Him. When You allow Him to Smush you, He works through You. You need Him to Understand Him.
@18:30 or so, Mike said that 119 teaches that the way to be free from the law of sin is to be under the law of Moses. This conflates the idea of justification and sanctification. For to be free from the law of sin [and death] is through justification by faith alone - not through obedience to Torah. Torah is our instruction and training in righteousness and that has no bearing on justification (if you adhere to the principle that you cannot lose your justification).
All law is written in two parts. The law telling you what to do and a penalty if you don't obey. I am not "under" the penalty for breaking the speed limit until I break the speed limit. The same way we were all under the penalty for breaking Gods law until Jesus payed the penalty. When I pay a penalty for breaking the speed limit it doesn't give me freedom to continue speeding. Likewise when Jesus payed the penalty for breaking his father's law it doesn't give us the right to continue sinning. Sin is the transgression of the law 1 john 3:4. He requires repentance.

How do you explain the prophecies concerning the actual reign of Jesus on earth after his second coming? Why will there be sacrifices, feasts, etc. in place? By then he will already have fulfilled even more that the law and prophets have been talking about.
Eric. Your logic is good. But are you referring to the law given to Moses at the last part? Is that law, the law of God, for everyone at all times? That instruction contradicts what God said in the law He gave to the Hebrews, who became Israel, and presently known as the Jews. There has been different laws to different people at different times. As for the question on eating animals. We can only speculate why God gave permission to eat meat at that point. But it has to do with Gods permissive will not his sovereign will. We do know that there was an awareness of clean and unclean animals before the flood because Noah brought 7 clean animals and only 2 unclean. Why the extra 5? Maybe food? We also know that in Gods kingdom we will be vegetarian again because death will be done away with and the lion will lie down with the lamb and eat straw. Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD. My understanding is that the 10 commandments are eternal. The sacrifices were penalties to discipline his people as a father should discipline his children or any government penalizes crime. however we no longer seek an earthly high priest because we have a high priest in the sanctuary in heaven. Read Romans 10 carefully because if you continue sinning after having a knowledge of the truth there remains no more sacrifice for sins but a fearful expectation of judgement. I would also like to point out that the final seal that God puts on the forhead of his people will be related to keeping His commandments, specifically His Sabbaths (plural) exo 13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt. If you study daniel to understand revelation you will see that the beast is the Catholic church and the pope is antichrist and they have NUMEROUS times said that changing the Sabbath to Sunday is her "MARK" of authority. the USA is the image of the beast and will one day cause all to worship rome again. See how Paul delineates between the two when referring to the Jews (those under the Law) in Corinthians 9:20-21: 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. Here he says the Jews are under the law yet he himself is not under that law, but the Law of Christ.
@@sethsisneros8369 under law simply means, under the judgement of the law. if you are obeying the law, you are not under it's judgement. Jesus taught the same law as Moses, the law of the Father. Paul also taught the law of Moses.
I understand the emphasis on “not under law but under grace.” But do you and your listeners understand Revelation 14:12, “who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus”? Paul says that for him “all things are lawful” but he later, near the end of his life, declares that he has never broken God’s law nor even the commandments of the Pharisees. We are admonished to not use our freedom for license. It seems to me that if I KNOW a commandment of God, it makes a whole lot more sense to obey it than to break it, or even to argue that it doesn’t matter. I believe the freedom we experience in Christ is freedom from the ordinances of man that attempt to go beyond God’s command to make it so strict that nobody can actually keep it. Israel went into captivity for 70 years for breaking one of the Ten Commandments. Which one was so important to God that He promised that if Israel would faithfully keep this one commandment, no nation would ever attack them? If you study scripture you will discover that it was the fourth commandment- the very one Christians scorn today. Have you looked at our world lately? Why is there no peace? Could it be related to not keeping the simple commandments of God?

Speaking of Hebrew Roots... Are you familiar with a group called Straitway? They don't call themselves Hebrew Roots but they basically have the same beliefs on the law, and it's a cross between that and Black Hebrew Isrealites. It's been a growing movement in my area. I have a friend who is a retired Green Bay Packer, and he's been using his celebrity up in this area to spread this doctrine and he has gotten a large following, claimed to be a Christian at one point and was involved with lots of ministry, until something happened and he got mixed up in this group. I've spent a number of hours talking with him and also some of his followers, and the "pastor" of the movement. It's very cult-ish. But this series has helped me in my dialogue with him, even though they don't call themselves Hebrew Roots, but are very similar.

You are very right. Please, take His word for it. Do not place trust in man, but in Him. Always seek Him and His wisdom. Did he speak in parables? Does He change...? what if, the entire bible is a parable?
Rewatching this a year later after attending a “Passover” event my friend invited me to. One of the ladies I sat next to mentioned she had no idea she was “supposed” to celebrate Passover as a requirement of obedience. And therein lies the way HR gets around things: if you are disobedient, you are not under grace. But disobedience means disobedience to the observance of Torah. That is the language I hear when I listen to HR proponents.
Then you've misunderstood or you've been told wrongly. The Grace and Mercy of God is integral to his nature and cannot be changed. It works together with his Law/Torah (which means instruction) for the believer who entered into covenant with him. It's for their benefit until they come to full maturity as they walk out their faith. Once your sins have been covered by the blood of the renewed covenant, the work begins to rehabilitate or convert your heart from sinning against God's Instructions or Law through establishing it in your heart. This IS the heart circumcision. This phrase of being "under the law" is another whole subject, taken out of context by main stream Christianity and misinterpreted as demonstrated by Pastor Mike.
@Matt Wright Its unfortunate that I can only find one thing to agree with you on and that is, using Grace for License which of itself is not effective to a stony heart as proven in the wilderness, unwilling to keep from breaking the commandments. It's not true that no one could have kept the written Law of God, its the pharisaic laws that they could not keep, it is what Galatians speaks against yet upholding the written Law of God. Its a real study to get down to the truth of it all knowing a few Greek words is just the beginning, now place it back in context of scripture

@@debblouin Actually, it's not rendered correctly in English at all, if you go back to where the "New" covenant prophecy is mentioned Jer 31:31 jump over to your concordance, you will see the underlying Hebrew word is 'Chadash' it's Word Origin and Definition is: to renew, repair NASB Translation renew (5), renewed (1), repair (1), restore (3), restored (1). So the God of Israel sought to REPAIR the covenant broken by the House of Israel and Judah by the sprinkling of blood,( Heb 12: 24) mediated by the High Priest Yeshua as Moses did at Sinai upon the Holy things and the people. This is the correct understanding and rendering of the Covenant between our heavenly Father through his Son.
There’s a line of argument among some Torah-observant Christians suggesting that the new covenant isn’t new, but rather a renewal of the Mosaic covenant. How and why would someone come to that idea? It seems be driven by the theology of our Hebrew Roots friends who are looking for ways to reinterpret Scripture in a way that shows the Law of Moses is alive and well (and binding) on Christians today. So they’ve arrived at the idea that God’s covenant with Israel has been renewed by Jesus. They believe the Torah has been written on the hearts of Christians and everything it taught at Siniai remains in place today. The renewal of the Mosaic covenant is recorded several times in the Tanakh. These passages show us what covenantal renewal looks like. The first renewal is found in Exodus 34 while Israel is still at Mount Sinai. Moses made new stone tablets to replace the ones he broke in anger and went up the mountain to present himself to Yahweh (34:2). He then fasted in God’s presence for 40 days as Yahweh renewed the covenant with Israel. He did so by reminding Israel to keep the feasts and Shabbat and not to make idols or serve other gods. And He commanded Moses to write the ten words (the Ten Commandments) on the new stone tablets. So this renewal consisted of a formal presentation before the Lord and a reiteration of the terms of the Sinai covenant, and it did not include the shedding of blood. The Mosaic covenant was renewed again forty years later in Moab. Deuteronomy 29-32 records God repeating the commands given at Sinai. The passage begins with a formal statement: “These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab…” (Deut 29:1). Moses then reiterates the terms of the covenant, “keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law” (Deut 30:10). When I was in it, it was difficult to understand your side of the explanations of these passages. I was brought up SDA so the sabbath and other requirements of behaviour was always expected of us and that was life, after leaving SDA system It was easy to continue to repeat their teachings in my mind whilst reading scriptures, and what I mean is, i could read the scripture but my mind was repeating words i was taught in the sda church, so in other words i wasnt reading the bible, i was hypnotically repeatings things i was already taught. Strange thing trying to explain. But studying along with you and Prof Solberg and even Mike Heiser for years have helped me to read alone again and learn, its a strange thing to have to explain,. It was like we were in a hypnotic trance..... Simple.

If we can agree that this is NOT about salvation, because it isn't. Salvation is by faith not by works. This is about obedience to God. Both sides are genuinely wanting to do what is right according to Scripture. It also seems apparent that one group is being deceived to believe something that is not the truth. So, if Satan is deceiving someone into believing a lie, would it make sense that he is tricking people to follow all of God’s instructions (remember this isn't about Salvation)? Or would it make more sense that Satan would not want people to follow God's instructions and tell lies about why they shouldn't do them?

How i understand all this from my point of view is we are no longer under the levitical law .The levitical law was given after the sin of the golden calf.We are still rather under the 10 commandements (sabbath include)Jer 31:33''I shall put My Torah in their inward parts''. Heb 8:8-10 and Heb 10:16 ''giving My laws into their hearts''
Although I love and appreciate the thoughtful presentation here of the Torah Observant doctrine and Mikes generous heart towards those caught in this error, I have personally witnessed many teaching a false works based gospel. There is the problem of no congruency or sound doctrinal foundation, but I was in a group where thousands were being taught that if you don’t follow as many of the 613 Laws as possible you are, at best, “least in the Kingdom” and at worst, “unsaved”. 119 Ministries teaches we who are not under the Sinai Covenant are “least in the kingdom”
Sheree, blessings to you. I assure you that I and the congregation I attend do not hold to anything other than the grace of God for our salvation. However, we do believe that rewards in Heaven that are to be given to believers (not in a prideful way) are based on the realities of how we have lived our lives AFTER salvation. Even you also believe that some believers love God more than other believers. Perhaps we believe how that is to be done is different from one another. However, please do not think that we are presenting a different gospel of salvation.
Romans 3:31: "Do we then OVERTHROW the LAW by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we UPHOLD the LAW.” We are not Under bc it cannot save us (Only by The Grace of Jesus and Through Faith) but Paul said we need to Uphold it.

It was Cain murdering his brother, Genesis 4:7 There are many other instances where sin is mentioned before the law of Moses! Genesis 6:5-7. The redemption of the human race was also mentioned before the law of Moses, beginning in Genesis 3:15; 12:3 (see Galatians 3:8). The *essence* of sin is putting *anything* in the place of God!

This verse is my testimony. I sat in Church one day listening to the Pastor tell stories and make jokes, after learning what sin really is during a morning devotional I did at home. In my mind, I remembered two verses out of nowhere. "Come out of her my People"... and... "What fellowship does light have with darkness?"

This is very true but God's law to which you refer here would not be the Mosaic Law because Gentiles are accountable to God too even though they do not have the Law. This was true in the Old Testament too. Gentiles did receive judgment, but never for breaking the Sabbath or for eating unclean animals, or etc.
@@TheEndIsNear123100 the law as mentioned in Galations is the law that all who have sinned deserve death. The law of God on the other hand is righteous and holy and good. Did Yeshua keep the law and if so what does it mean to follow after him? Not all who say Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but only the one who does the will of our Father in Heaven. What is the will of the Father apart from His law? Grace is the power to obey, not the freedom to live in sin. See Romans 2-3 and don't forget those who love God obey His commands.
@@jesusisthetorah3447 I agree with all this but all the commandments that Jesus spoke are the ones I pursue, minus keeping the whole Law of Moses since I am not a Jew. I know that many of the commandments of Christ are taken from the Torah, yet, we hold fast to his words with the exception of the entirety of the Law of Moses, since we are uncircumcised in the flesh. Do you remember what the Lord told a certain non-Jewish woman? He said something to the effect of 'why do you take the bread of the children and toss it to the dogs?' He said this because he sensed her great need and wanted to test her faith. She replied something to the effect that even the little dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the masters table. The will of the Father is to believe in the one he sent and we do. We are not ignorant of both Peter and Paul's statements concerning salvation for the Gentiles apart from keeping the the Law of Moses which was affirmed to Peter by the Holy Spirit.

It doesnt matter what your nationality or heritage is, if you follow after Yeshua you are to die to yourself and follow after him, which means live as he did. The Ten Commandments aren't the law of Moses, but still Yeshua kept the law of Moses too or he would not have been an acceptable sacrifice for our sins. The more we live like Yeshua the more we understand who he really is and the more we come to know our Father in Heaven and that is what truly matters. You are Israel, you have been grafted in and you inherited a place amongst the people of God.

Mike, I know you said we should let the scriptures speak for them selves. I totally agree. According to Acts 17:11, the Bereans read the 'scriptures' daily to make sure what Paul was teaching was true. Me personally, I don't think they rebuked Paul on anything he taught, otherwise Acts probably would have mentioned it. So, that story makes me ask the a question. Which is, What is the 'scriptures' that they used to make sure Paul was speaking truth? Surely they didn't confirm Paul's teachings to Paul's letters (which I'd imagine some of them weren't even written at that time), right? Also Jesus, in Luke 24:45 taught from the 'scriptures' as well. Raises another question, was it Paul's letters which didn't exist yet? There's more, but what I see the New Testament saying is that the Old Testament is the 'scriptures'. So according to Peters 'letter'(2 Peter 3), ignorant and unlearned people twist Paul's letters and lead people to lawlessness (without Gods Law). Can you show us anything from the scriptures or the New Testament (that is not Paul) that shows that everyone (Gods people or non Gods people) should stay away/or don't have anything to do with Gods Law? I ask because if you're correct, I fill like God should have told us about it through a prophet (amos 3:7) or someone else other than Paul should have mentioned it supposedly. If I don't have a legitimate reasoning, please let me know. I'd hate to be someone who falls in the category that calls Jesus master and he denies because of their lawlessness (being without Gods Law), Matt 7:21-23. May YHWH bless your studies brother .

Hi Mike, I'm a born again Christian, currently attending an Evangelical free church. Now, God gave Moses the ten commandments, the fourth being "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: So, do we only keep 9 commandments and not 10? Now, I understand that the Hebrew have hundreds of Laws, that's not what I'm referring too. Now, isn't that different from the core 10 commandments? Greetings! Hope you don't mind me jumping in to the question intended for Mike. Short answer is that the 10 words are eternal and the basis for God's government. If you haven't yet, study the OT sanctuary services. The table of stone remained in the ark of the covenant, meaning they are not done away with. The OT Tabernacle was a pattern of what is in heaven.

Pastor Mike: I take it that Romans 7:6 is your parting swing at Hebrew Roots. So, I’ll tackle this one and then it’s my turn to take a few swings at normative Christianity. Romans 7:1-6 is the Gospel in a nutshell and requires an understanding of the history of Israel’s relationship to God in the OT. Please note that all covenant language is in the context of Israel. First, God took Israel to wife at Mt Sinai…the Torah was the Ketubah or marriage contract spelling out all the duties of the wife and Husband. Most important of these was, “You shall have no other Gods before me.” 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which MY COVENANT THEY BRAKE, although I WAS AN HUSBAND UNTO THEM, saith the LORD: (Jer 31:32) So, God divorced Israel because she went continually whoring after other gods: 8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding ISRAEL COMMITTED ADULTERY I had put her away, and given her a BILL OF DIVORCE; yet her treacherous sister JUDAH feared not, but went and PLAYED THE HARLOT also. (Jer 3:8) 1 Thus saith the LORD, Where is the BILL OF YOUR MOTHER’S DIVORCEMENT, whom I HAVE PUT AWAY? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? A Faithful Version (AFV) describes Romans 7:1-6 in language that makes very clear what is going on. 1. Are you ignorant, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know law), that the law rules over a man for as long a time as he may live? 2. For the woman who is married is bound by law to the husband as long as he is living; but if the husband should die, she is released from the law that bound her to the husband. 3. So then, if she should marry another man as long as the husband is living, she shall be called an adulteress; but if the husband should die, she is free from the law that bound her to the husband, so that she is no longer an adulteress if she is married to another man. 4. In the same way, my brethren, you also were made dead to the marriage law of the Old Covenant by the body of Christ in order for you to be married to another, Who was raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit to God. 5. For as long as we were in the flesh, the passions of sins, which were through the law, were working within our own members to bring forth fruit unto death. 6. But now we have been released from the law (see EXPLANATION below) because we have died to that in which we were held so that we might serve in newness of the spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. (A Faithful Version) EXPLANATION: The phrase, “released from the law” means that through the death of Jesus Christ and the symbolic death by water baptism into the death of Jesus Christ, that Jews and Israelites have been released from the covenant marriage law that bound them to the Old Covenant. It does not mean that New Covenant Christians are released from the obligation to keep the commandments and laws of God (Matt. 5:17-20). Rather, they are now to obey the commandments and laws of God in the newness of the spirit of the law and not just the letter of the law (Rom. 7:6) (A Faithful Version) Shalom

It's that simple. Why else would there be such an emphasis on him being tempted, tried, without sin, and even subjecting himself to death itself? I just want to cry sometimes. Gal 3 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, ...the curse is death. He didn't redeem from the the law of having one God, loving our neighbor by not killing or stealing from them .he redeemed us from the curse only . We still have to have one God and love our neighbors.

I was studying with seventh day Adventists (my family are still in there) and I had to leave when I heard some of their teachings especially the constant studies on obedience to the law and their 3 Angels message which includes revelation 12:14 where in the last days those who keep the 10 commandments will be the saved ones. I also encountered some young guys who were part of the Hebrews Roots movement who came to visit the church and they were so passionate about keeping of the sabbath) anyways I left 2 years ago and have been constantly studying why we are not under the law and your videos are amazing it helps so much because my brother keeps sending me stuff about keeping the 10 commandments and he feels sorry for me saying he’s always praying for me (even though I still attend church and love Christ and rest in His finish work on the cross) these videos make me see Christ even more and love Him so much thank you ❤️

Learned it all in Israel. Live there for years. They know much more about God and about Jesus's background, and lifestyle then you can imagine. They know more about Jesus, and Paul for that matter. He is a learned and stable pastor, he teaches the whole book with the Messiah in it . One God, one set of laws, for blessing and cursing for the people, One Church, and one high priest. It's a strong beautiful thing. Helps us love God and the Messiah more and more. Not confusing and wishy-washy like your teachings.
1st and 2nd Peter are addressed directly to the Jewish people. There were different laws for Kings, Jews, Gentiles, and even among laws for the Jews, there were subsets in those as well. I.e., the Mosaic Laws had separate laws for regular Jews versus the Priest. In fact, the majority of the Mosaic Laws were actually "priest" related (over 500). Peter said that Paul was difficult to understand. And I believe that the church has ignored Peter. If Paul meant we are not under the Law of God. He would have said so plainly. Paul plainly upholds the Law of God in Romans 7:12-14 and 22. Romans 8:5-8. The Law of God is spiritual. So are we spiritual people of God or not? Do we walk in the Spirit or not? If the Law is spiritual and I claim to be spiritual then I should keep the spiritual law called the Torah. But the church ignores this completely.

Mike, thank you so much for taking the time to clarify pivotal issues within the church and the hebrew roots movement. I have really enjoyed watching this mini series. To further your point regarding Jewish practice of the law and "gentile" practice of law, would it be fair to assume that it is appropriate for a jew who believes in Christ to still follow the law of Moses because it represents ancient cultural practices by their ancestors? And that for Christians, we follow the spirit of the law?
With that logic, yes. Only grace is for the jews. Lol No longer under the law of sin and death, which is the whole theme of Romans 6. If there is no law, then we have no need for grace or the intercession of a High Priest, Christ. This is so frustrating. Romans 6 is the law of sin and death that carries over to chapter seven where Paul reveals that the law of God is good, and the power of sin in him is what abuses the law of God that he loves, and says is spiritual. Paul's generic use of the term law is what confuses people. Christ was born under the law of sin and death, he died without sin and overcame, and we too are no longer slaves to sin but slaves of righteousness unto God. It's that simple. Y'all be blessed
@@beckyfrechette4439 Yeshua was a rabbi. It was not uncommon for rabbis to give charges to their followers that mark them as under their rabbis authority. The way of Christ, which is bearing with one another in the faith, forgiveness instead of retribution, and so on are identity markers for his followers. As the old hymn says, "And they'll know we are christians by our love..." However, just as he said he didn't come to abolish the law of God, he did as rabbis typically did in the second temple period, and that is give charges to identity they belong to him without abolishing or abrogating the laws of God. It's that simple. Revelation 12:17 identifies the enemies of the serpent as those who keep the Commandments of God and keep the testimony of Jesus, their savior and rabbi. Not those who keep the charge of the rabbi alone, for our Rabbi kept the law of his Father, and identify us with his charge. They are not in opposition. In fact, the law of Christ fully magnifies the law of God from a heart made of flesh rather than stone. Walk as the rabbi walked and obey his charge. It's a pleasure and it's that simple. Be blessed
Well if you hold to the law of christ you automatically have the 10 commandments except for upholding the sabbath (but we have our sabbath rest in Christ so we also kinda have that one)
That just doesn’t make sense to me. If the law of Moses is done away with, then it shouldn’t be repeated at all in the law of Christ. Otherwise, it’s not done away with. Christ’s laws should involve totally new laws if the old ones are thrown out. Why throw out old ones to replace them with…old ones? Example: the law of Moses said Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said all the Mosaic laws hang on this law. Traditional theology says Jesus’s death got rid of this law (why??) when it got rid of the whole law. This was so that Jesus could replace it with his “own” laws, which are summed up with…Love one another. Christ’s suffering in the cross certainly gives a deeper meaning to what it means to truly love, but you can’t exactly call it a change in the actual law. It’s basically the same law! A law that God supposedly established, then did away with, and then immediately re-established. That’s confusing, and God is cannot be the author of confusion. Jeremiah 31:33 and Hebrews 8:10 make a lot more sense when explaining how the New Covenant changes, not the content of the law, but the location of the law (no longer merely on tablets of stone but inscribed in our hearts) and therefore the motivation with which we live by it. Jesus also promised his disciples that he would send them the Holy Spirit so that they would would walk by the Spirit and not according to the flesh. All of this speaks to a different, more intimate relationship with God that allows us to better understand and follow his will, not to be saved, but as the fruits of salvation. No where do I see any abrogation of any of God’s laws as God’s revealed will for humans.
I really appreciate what you're doing here on your channel. I was under the belief that you still needed to be Torah observant and that Jesus didn't come to bring about a new religion. Your first video on the topic made me question my belief, and as I started to study and pray about it, I realized that the law was put into place for a time and a season. It was there to bring about Jesus, because Jesus was promised from the beginning. God told the serpent (Satan) that one would come that would bruise his head, and he would bruise his heel. Genesis 3:16 I've also come to understand that the law was a radical shift in the way that people acted, and the way they saw God. These laws were very progressive for the time they were written. Understanding the historical arc of the Bible, helps to make it more consistent. I do appreciate all that I have learned about the way that Jews view God, and the scriptures. I have a lot of love for the Jewish people because without them we would not have salvation! I also appreciate that they kept the scriptures for us! I feel like I understand God a small bit better through opening myself up to seeing it from their view point, but I no longer feel that the law has to be kept. Jesus said it so simply, that the two commands we should follow is to love God, and love others (love your neighbor as yourself) because that pretty much sums it up. I will say that we all have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Also Romans 14 talks about this whole debate pretty easily, and how we should handle it. @@moshemyym4627 No to both of your questions. As I stated above I believe the law of Moses was for a time, I did not say that some of it doesn't carry over to us now. Jesus said when asked about the commandments to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, by doing this you will fulfill the law. Shalom.

As for what Yahshua said about the two greatest commandments in the law, He gave them as a summary for what the law in detail is aimed to do. Therefore we still need to keep the details of the law because they spell out the two greatest commandments in summary. If sin hasn't changed and there's no new evil, then it sounds like the righteousness of the law that we were commanded to keep remains today. Besides, what new law can the blood of the Messiah cover if it wasn't given before He died? He only died for the transgressions against the law He gave to Moses. The law is good, righteous, truth, holy, light, wisdom and perfect. We have no better instructions, what is perfect cannot be improved upon.
@@moshemyym4627 Again, not every Law is for every person. Some are for Kings, some for Priest, some for regular Jews, and NOAHIDE LAW has ALWAYS been for Gentiles. Samuel wrote about all these things in the manuscript know as "Ancient Law of Kings" which were passed down and preserved. The Noahide Law was found in many manuscripts, ranging from the Talmud to the DDS. Ask any Jewish Orthodox Rabbi or any Kabbalah Rabbi and they'll be more than happy to tell you all about it. Hope this illustration helps. A US citizen is not subject to the laws of Malaysia as long as he is in the States. But if he resides in Malaysia then he is subject to the laws of the country even though he is an American. Both laws in essence criminalise murder and theft, but would penalise them differently. And may even define them slightly differently. There may be legalistic similarity (because of British influence) but they are not the same. So a Christian is not under the Law because of his new citizenship and residence, but under another spiritual jurisdiction, similar to the former because of common roots, but definitely not the same. So no wholesale adoption of the former.
Maybe the legalistic people say look at me, but what is faith apart from (works) obedience? How is Christ evident in a believer if they live lives contrary to how Christ lived his life? Look at Christ while I live like him and do what he did, not so I can obtain salvation but so I may know him for who he really is. I challenge you and everyone who claims Christ to walk as he did and keep the law to the best of your ability and see what a delight and revelation it is, its not about us perfecting it, he alone perfects the law in us. It's really about knowing him and loving God.

@@ROGenterprises Firstly God bless and I say this as a brother with disagreement. My understanding from my studies, as Mike has stated Jesus fulfiled the law, he completed it. The law does not bring us salvation nor grace but He works in us through the Holy Spirit and influences our conscious. Our works are a reflection and the subsequent actions (works) as a result in our faith in Jesus Christ; a result of the power of God working in us. Walking with God should not be focusing on the 600+ laws to cherry pick as an individual vs laws that were upheld as a nation. Jesus completed the law to give us that example to emulate. You mention that Yeshua did not mention the Sabbath, with your understanding it should not be observe, so, since Yeshua did not mention anything directly about idols, does that mean we can ignore Gods commandments about idols?
What you've said doesn't conflict with anything Pastor Winger has stated. I.e., Is prayer a "requirement" for Salvation? No. If you love, trust, and have faith in God will you pray? Yes. Point being, obedience stems from one of 2 ways: 1) Trying to earn self-righteousness 2) Because you love, trust, and have faith in God. Does someone pray because they're trying to "work" their way into God's good grace? Or do they pray because they humbly thank and praise God for completing the finished work on the Cross for us? The same principle of prayer applies to following Jesus' commands.
Jews followed talmud and mishna . Paul did not want that kind of conversion .the commandments was given to all 12 tribes and a mixed multitude (gentiles) .is there other laws God gave to only gentiles

The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. I would love a "law of Christ" teaching too! Especially since the Torah is God's law as given to man through various mediators, including Moses; and since Jesus is God, and He doesn't change, and He, as the Word, gave the law to Moses and because He repeatedly affirms that He only spoke what the Father told Him and affirms the 10 commandments repeatedly. That would be a great teaching to hear!! :)

@@redrobyn3912 He “fulfilled” the sacrificial requirement that the law required for all the sins. He “fulfilled” it in that we no longer have to offer animal sacrifices all the time. Why is this so hard to understand/why are so many Christians misled on this topic? Itching ears? I mean, you do realize that the same Jesus who “fulfilled” it, also had this to say: “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:18 Does that sound like the 10 commandments don’t matter anymore? Have heaven and earth been destroyed yet? No. So the law is still in effect.
My husband has in the past year taken on Hebrew roots beliefs. Because I am supposed to submit to my husband he wants me to follow the law of Moses. Am I supposed to go back under the law because of submission? This is causing so much contention in our family... It's hard. What am I to do?
The first thing that comes to mind is what Paul says: 1 Corinthians 9:19-20 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. Application here would be that it is perfectly OK to be supportive and to be graceful about it but all the while pointing him always to Christ because if he goes far enough in his adherence to the Law he will realize Christ is not allowed to be his high priest (of Judah) nor his once for all atonement (animal sacrifices) according to the Law. In order to remain respectful ask questions in such a way that continually points to contradictions that you see. However, when it comes to things that are directly opposed to the gospel and the deity of Christ (observing such things that deny Christ as high priest or observing such things that would compete with His once for all atonement, for example), Luke says this of Peter and John: Acts 4:19-20 19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” I hope this helps.
Meggie, the term "under the law" does not mean you are not to keep the written law of Moses, its a reference to any man made religious enactments that contradict the written law of scripture which Jesus defended and upheld. Don't be afraid but do study by leading of the Spirit. The Jews established their own Talmudic laws that brought the people under a form of bondage and therefore sin. Jesus came to free them from that bondage to lead them back to the Torah/commandments of his Father. his disciples who learned from him this truth sought to restore this understanding and taught the principles of true torah was to love and doing the right thing according to Gods Holiness. We are not only called to be saved but to become spiritually mature, the manual for this design is the Torah which means the instruction of God in how we walk out our faith.

She wants to know how the duty to submit to her husband applies to theological interpretations her husband believes in and wants them both to practice that she believes are not biblical. It’s a difficult issue and I don’t know what to tell her, but Mike has done other videos on submission in marriage that she might want to check out.
Before calling 119 ministries your "brothers in Christ" one must ask, are they preaching the same Jesus you are? I've screen shot items from their statement of faith and reached out to them asking them if they believe the Bible is equal to Jesus. In Judaism it is taught that the Torah is an incarnation of God. I asked 119 ministries if they believed the Bible is an incarnation of God. They agreed. While all scripture is Spirit breathed, the bible did not die for our sins. They are borrowing from Judaism and intermingling it with Christian faith. As Jesus taught, a little leaven leavens the whole lump. They need to repent. Also, there needs to be clarification with them as to what covenant they believe we are under. Most HR/Torah followers believe we are in a RENEWED covenant, not under the NEW covenant. There are so many scriptures we could quote to point out there is no such thing as a renewed covenant. However, Galatians 3:15 is a nice nugget, it reads: "Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case." There is no adding or subtracting to the Sinai covenant. There is no adding or subtracting to the New covenant. If we want to be clear on what followers of Jesus Christ are to pay attention to with regard to the law Dr. Michael Brown described it best. If a law is written in the Old testament, mentioned by the prophets, taught by Jesus Christ and reiterated in the epistles then those are the laws Christians should be aware of and following. This would EXCLUDE - Dietary laws, feast days, and the seventh day Saturday sabbath as "the" day of rest. It would EXCLUDE wearing Tzitzits, a woman covering her head, growing your beard (although I hate shaving so I love having a beard) and other such items. Many in the HR/Torah movement also believe the New covenant takes place once we are Resurrected in the second coming of Christ. This is NOT scriptural. There are many problems with this movement, and they wear you down with their eisegeisis.

Yes, this is the New Covenant. This is speaking of the future.....the Church. When both Jews and Gentiles would be together in the Body of Christ. Because they believe Jesus is the messiah. To me it is no different than the other 30,000 denominations of Christianity. If you throw out the HRM (most I know claim Jesus is the messiah) you have to throw out every other one who doesn't believe just as you do. Some churches believe in healing and prophecy, some don't. Thst isn't a salvation issue just as doing the commands of God isn't a salvation issue in my book. It's all about a relationship and not religion. Just because their religion looks different than yours doesn't mean their relationship is. I would honestly say most people have religion and no relationship. That is where the big concern should be.
@@theplatinumcaraudio Trusting your own standard is exactly what Solomon warned against(Pro. 14:12). In Matt 19:17, Jesus very plainly told the wealthy ruler that following the Decalogue is not an optional for believers. In 1 Jhn 3:22,24, John basically repeats what Jesus said in Jhn 14:15 where He said the ppl who have a relationship with Him live by the Decalogue. In Matt. 7:21-23, Jesus warns that there will be many believers will find themselves among the condemned because they chose to ignore God's commandments. There is absolutely no place in God's Kingdom for those who are set on rejecting His authority.
Jesus is the rest. The final sacrifice. The new Adam. Where Adam fell in his sin Jesus rose in his glory! The fulfillment of the law. How is that difficult??
How is it difficult that Christ fulfilling the law is the perfect example of walking with God and demonstrating love to Him as He desires to be loved and that following after Christ is doing the same?
@@ROGenterprises No Jesus is not just an example of how we should live. He is not just a man He is the Lamb without blemish. He is our sabbath. He is the fullness of God in human form that in Him is our salvation.
I didn't say that he was just an example of how we should live, but he still is. He indeed was without sin and He kept the Sabbath holy and we can rest in him, but he didn't abolish or change the Sabbath, thats an everlasting covenant between God and His people. And Christ is the radiance of Gods' glory and the exact representation of His nature, the word made flesh. Hebrews 1:1-9
@@ROGenterprises the covenant is fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus is the sabbath. His covenant with Israel will be complete when He returns and they accept Him as their Saviour. The same way Joseph was finally accepted by His brothers. They tortured Joseph left him for dead as a slave but they didnt know that he rose again as royalty in Egypt. It wasnt until Joseph revealed himself to his brothers that they repented and saw him in his glory as their savior.

Please know that I do not want to put a yoke upon anyone. For trying to place the commands for salvation on anyone is a burden that they cannot bear. However please consider this as a matter of being made holy by God, being set apart and sanctified for His use. If the Spring feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Pentecost) have been fulfilled in the first coming of Christ and the Fall feasts (Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles) point to His return AND if the feasts were to be abandoned after His first coming... why did God appoint the Fall feasts at all? If it was good to observe the Spring feasts up until the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, then it would seem good to observe the Fall feasts up until His return. What else in the Old Covenant might we be missing by throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Please do not judge those who are looking into it.
I enjoyed your video but you didn't mention any scriptures that tell us to keep God's Commandments because we love Him, 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. Plus you didn't mention in Matthew 5 that whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and TEACHES others to do so will be called the least in the kingdom of God. (at least He didn't say we're going to hell) There are many scriptures that tell us to keep God's Commandments which is the law, we're just not keeping them for salvation or justification. But out of love. You made every argument against being obedient. But His commandments are a joy when you love God! Jesus died so we'd stop sinning! What is sin? Breaking God's Commandments! Read all the scriptures about obedience and keeping His commandments and quit trying to circumvent them! 😉 Love in Yeshua!
Thank you pastor Mike for the videos. I had never heard of Hebrew roots before but am starting to lately. I like your ministry and thank you for your hard work. This topic seems to be difficult. A lot of 119 ministries are interesting. Let's take pleroo as an example. The meaning can mean many things like to fill to the full, complete, verify and fully preach (as used in Romans 15:19). In Matthew 5:17 it appears to fully preach fits in context better because Jesus just talked about being the salt and light of the world. This can be confusing for sure because if pleroo does mean fully preach here it completely changes the meaning of the verses. What are your thoughts?
If Jesus gave, added or took away from His Fathers law then ...how can he be Messiah, since Messiah had to be perfect? Giving us a new law "Law of Christ" would have been caused him to break the Torah (what they had at that time). Accusing Christ for changing the law, removing adding or taking away would put us in the same group as the Pharisees who accused Him for Changing the law. I think that we have to be careful in causing a contradiction between Christ and the Father.
Yeah this channel misunderstands, much like the Pharisees of the time. Jesus told them he had come to fulfil the law, and he did. All who come to him... IT IS DONE. When you put your faith in him, you are sealed. Did that abolish the law? No... people who do not come to him, still die under that law, and i mean second death. This is why Jesus told the Hebrews that Moses was their accuser because they held him up so high... i'm sure it was rather sobering when he told them I do not accuse you... MOSES DOES lol. Commentator needs to read the Bible, King James Only. The Hebrews kept bringing up Moses to Jesus and he told them he didn't offer them bread from heaven at all... HE was the true bread from heaven! He didn't abolish the law he fulfilled it! Now the work of God is to believe in whom he hath sent! That being Jesus Christ! Jesus had his commands, and that's to show that we truly have faith in him, and we are truly doing the work of God by having that faith... but if we don't love one another... it proves we didn't really have faith to begin with. But people love to toss works into it, like you have to do THIS or don't do THAT or it's curtains! Lol. So much confusion, around such a simple and glorious message. Believe and be saved, and then naturally onto good works through the fruit of the spirit that dwells within us from the very moment we believe, and put our trust in him who died for the sins of the world.

So this entire chapter should be read in context. It starts with not being a hypocrite, there being a narrow gate, false prophets, knowing them by their fruit, then.... Verse 20 by their fruits you should know them. How do we know a disciple of Christ you may say? John 13:35 KJV - By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. But wait...Does it say they will know you are my disciple by how you keep the whole law??? It doesn't say that. John 13:35 KJV - By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Galatians 5:14 KJV - For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. James 2:8 KJV - If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: Romans 13:10 KJV - Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. But wait you say, Matthew says not one jot or tittle will pass... But in Acts the disciples said ( Acts 15:28 KJV - For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;) This was regarding the requirement of circumcision specifically, correct? My question to you is: Is the law of circumcision a jot or tittle. What does this mean that circumcision has passed from the law? Matthew chapter 5 was early in Christ's ministry. You have to read the rest of the verse about the jot in tittle. TILL all be fulfilled. So nothing was to pass from the law until all was fulfilled. But circumcision was not required anymore. What was all fulfilled that allowed for a jot or a tittle to pass? Jesus said everything in the law and the prophets that was written about him, he came to fulfill all of them. Luke 24:44 KJV - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Romans 3:21 KJV - But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Hebrews 8:13 KJV - In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. I hope this helped. :)

There is still much to be fulfilled before the law comes to an end, like revelations 21:1-4 that tells us at the new heaven and new earth is when there will be a new order of things. Gods Law is liberty. By the modern Church telling us to not keeping it, it's denying us our freedom and blessing. I view the modern Church as a house built on sand like in Jesus parable.
This is why I like the KJV to explain this better. Romans 6:14 KJV For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. There is no confusion when you read this passage. It is clear as day. We are not under the law but are under grace. Case closed.
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law WE BECOME CONSCIOUS OF OUR SIN. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! You know you can't just leave isolation passages like these , in 3:21 Paul says about this new things God has done through Chrins (which is not a part of the law of Moses) is witnessed by the LAW and the prophets. If you could deal with what Mike was saying rather then trying to sword fight with scriptures would help you out.

James 1:22-25 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-they will be blessed in what they do.
@@ROGenterprises you seem to still dismiss that humanity is all under law , wether Israel under the law of Moses or Gentile under the the law that God revealed to them as Paul describes in chapter 1-2 , and we are all under Christ law , now the law of Moses or lawless. If you could read Galations and Hebrews and and see how those books come against the very thing you try to build (which I believe are both works of Paul as well) and come back to Romans and see that Paul is consistent rather then working both sides of a sword fight . I’m struggling with the topic of the Sabbath Day. I want to observe it, but it’s causing discord in my family. I donot understand how to view the fourth commandment. It’s hard for me to let go of Sabbath-keeping. What is the right thing to do according to God’s Word?
You need to make a video that answers ONE simple question. "What is sin"? I listened to your similar explanation video. It was weak. There is only ONE definition of "sin" according to the old and new testament.
Here's a couple of definitions for you, sir, that come to my mind: "If anyone, therefore, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, IT IS SIN for them" (James 4:17). "Everything that does not come from faith, IS SIN" (Romans 14:23). "Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop SINNING - for there are some who of you are ignorant of God" (1 Corinthians 15:34).
Maybe you touched on this already but how would you deal with various scriptures in the Torah that explicitly command the Jewish people to obey the law. It is a reoccurring theme throughout without some sort of end date of law applicability. Do Jewish people have to obey law and Gentiles do not, does a Jewish person who comes to believe that Jesus is the Messiah suddenly have a pass the frees them from the law? To me the Torah as well many passages in the OT are quite adamant on the importance of following the law and repercussions of failing to do so.
there are 2 people. Sinners who never repent and never keep the 10 commandments and sinners who do repent and keep the commandments because they have repented from breaking them. Gentiles are commanded to keep the 10. if they were not then they would never need the savior in the first place. They would not be sinners in the first place if the 10 did not apply to them.
It seems that the entire context of Romans 14 has to do with a division in the church about s specifics dealings with what they are saying you can eat and cannot eat on what day you can eat it and not eat it. So the “one man esteem one day above another” seems to have to deal with the topic and issue being dealt with in the context of Romans 14 Also Colossians also seems to deal with the holy feast days in which apart from the 7th day sabbath was the be treated as a high sabbath , that’s why Paul says let no man judge you in.....then he goes to name everything attached to the feast days to new moon, offerings, and the fact that those high days were to be treated as a high sabbath ,but apart from the 7th day sabbath commandment. “Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commandments is what counts.”1 Corinth 7:19. Am I wrong when this looks like Paul weighing the law vs the law? Circumcision as pertains to the law of Moses vs the Law of God ......the commandments. When it says the law was added because of transgressions I believe it’s saying the law of Moses was added due to transgression of Gods law in which apart from everything Moses wrote on parchment paper in a book, God himself wrote them with his own hand. Anyways these are things I ponder and pray about because I wanna please to LORD and not take anything for granted.

Mike, I am not a Jew but....over 30 years ago I stumbled upon the Worldwide church of God ministry when I was seeking to know God thru the Bible. On my own I had read Gen. thru Duet. and was very concerned as I was not keeping the law. The WW Church of God helped feed my concerns and I became a very legalistic new believer, if not in deed certainly in thought and I was always fearful as I knew I was not keeping parts of the law. I was a typical new Christian who never read her whole Bible. It wasn't until 5 years later during that I fell in love with God by reading the first 5 books of the New Testament but when I read Romans, I bawled. Then I truly saw the law as it was meant to be. To show me my sin, to show me God's holiness, to show me the depth of the love of God in Christ, to show me how truly gracious is the grace and mercy of God, to show me how inadequate I am to save myself. I was suckered into the Hebrew roots movement and their thinking because my “friends” lied to me and said they were Christian but they were not Christian but Jews. I had just came to faith and thought their way of living was normal for a Christian. Until I started reading the Bible for myself and got all confused. They deceived me into thinking a Christian must keep the law of Moses. It wasn’t until they screamed at me for doing laundry on a sabbath that I realized something was wrong and realized these people didn’t have the kind of fruit that a Christian should have. I’m so glad I found your teachings, and love how you go verse by verse and explain things so well and I see your love for the law and the Jews. You seem genuine and in my opinion the Hebrew roots movement is a deceptive movement and totally unbiblical. Someone of another faith or spirit are not our brothers in my opinion and should be rebuked in love, as your doing.
I don't know about the Hebrew roots movement. I'm sure they are sharing some truth and keeping the law is one of them. It's the only way not to live in sin and there's no other way around this. Truth shouldn't be determined by incidents that may happened between "believers", truth should stand on it's own without them. You were screamed at for doing laundry on the sabbath. Maybe that was wrong. Tell me, were you told before you did the laundry that you weren't supposed to do laundry on the sabbath? Do you know the incident that happened in Numbers15, a man gathering sticks on the sabbath? Yahweh gave him the death sentence because he didn't obey. Adam and Eve were put out the garden because they didn't obey. The scriptures says, 'the wages of sin is death'. Romans1:18-32 talks about how the wrath of Yahweh is revealed from heaven and how people are worthy of death for doing things contrary to the law. One day these things will be carried out.
The point is, the law is perfect, Psalms19:7 and it is the truth, Psalms119:142. The Messiah followed it in order not to sin. Sin is a grave deed, so much so that the Messiah had to sacrifice His life for it to save us from sin. Do you think His death that brought about the saving grace of Yahweh now gives us a license to live in the very thing He died for? There is NO SCRIPTURE in the entire bible that will lead one to the understanding that we don't have to keep the law that Yahweh gave to Moses and of course I mean the righteousness of the law, which simply means doing that which is right, His commandments.
Romans6:1,2 shall we sin that grace may abound? Yahshua told the woman caught in adultery, 'go and sin no more'. "Go" is grace, "sin no more" is keep the law. The righteousness of the law and grace are not in opposition to one another. It's the law of sin and death that grace is in opposition to. Paul's letters is a test for the Gentile world, to see if they will keep Yahweh's law or not. That's why Paul's letters are written the way they are, 2Peter3:15,16 they are not easy to understand. Without the wisdom of Yahweh that was given to Paul, people will continue to destroy themselves, especially when they act like they don't see Paul saying emphatically that we should keep the law. They concentrate on the passages where it seems Paul is releasing us from the law, which is certainly not the case.
If they reject Jesus as Messiah, then they are not Christian. Our messianic congregation believes that the only way to salvation is through faith alone by grace alone in Yeshua alone.

Jenny Wickman what you read was Paul's epistle and just because it's part of your bible it does not make it Scripture. Try coming up with a few verses from the gospels that say the Law is finish when Jesus dies and resurrects?

Thanks, Mike. I've listened to this series and it has been so helpful. I have a Christian friend who is involved with a Torah group (she is not Jewish). I have seen her thinking drastically change about the law of Moses. She is super passionate that Christians should observe the Sabbath on Saturday because that's what Jesus did and that's what the Torah says. I do my best to tell her that if she feels strongly about observing the Sabbath on Saturday, then, she should! She has also started thinking that if Jews follow the Torah, they are saved. Anyway, I am going to TRY to get her to watch your videos.
That's very caring of you but you should also leave her to discover for herself why following the Torah does not "save" you, but it does lead to life and blessing if they do them. You also may find it useful learning this truth that Christianity in general confuses Paul's admonishing to the Galatians. Sending her to Pastor Mike is a bad idea for this reason.

I was focused on keeping the law of Moses which I never was successful at, but keeping my focus on Jesus Christ I am keeping the law of love. I kept trying to get the group of Hebrew roots brethren I was studying with to go beyond the Torah to the new testament, but no they didn't want to. I kept reading the new testament over, and over again, and truly discovered we are under a new covenant, a better covenant, and what Mike Winger says in this video I believe the bible backs him up. Nobody can keep the law flawlessly except Jesus Christ, I will stay focused on what he did for me. My salvation comes through him, not keeping the law through him. I can't keep the law through him, but he kept the law for me because I couldn't. That is what I believe, and salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone. I believe the whole bible from Geneses through Revelation. The Old Testament points to Jesus Christ.

Jesus fulfilled the Law Just read 1 Timothy and ignore these people who have confidence in the flesh. These people creep in trying to put you back under sin and condensation brought back by the law. Here are some verses below hope they help.

Great series Mike. I too have been looking into 119 ministries, New2Torah and Monte Judah, their teaching and eschatology. A couple comments on that. Hebrew Roots (HR) groups look to the teaching of the Torah as the center piece of the end. They see Ezk 37, the holy spirit renewal, fulfilled in the end times, not at Pentecost. The HR guys do not acknowledge the unfaithfulness of the house of Judah and predicted judgement, scattering, fulfillment of prophecy of 70AD. They futurize everything (prophecy verses) and create a construct by proof texting.
As for the Law, instead of what they believe, what does the Word say about the Law? Why was the law given? 1. To show the character/glory of God which shows us we are sinners, a school master. 2. The law was given as the conditional requirements of the Mosaic covenant (Old C) 3. Given to express saving-faith in God by OT saints, not to save by works, but as faith and love to God. Israel failed because they were too week because of the power of sin thru the law. 4. The law maps the perfect path to the Father which only Jesus would keep perfectly. 5. The law was never able to save, but only point by symbol and shadow to Messiah. 6. ** God required Israel to worship him in the OT covenant and ended at Calvary. Dan (25-27) messiah puts and END to sacrifice. 7. NT believing Jews were finally told to leave the observance of OT law and embrace the New Covenant in Hebrews, the better covenant. 4 years later the temple is destroyed and Jews forced to end sacrifices.
What should NT gentiles do with the law? We should obey it, but obey by the spirit of Christ. Don't murder and don't hate your brother. Follow Jesus as he taught, law of Love as Mike said. I think observing the dietary laws have health benefits. Circumcision was a sign and seal to Abraham that Israel will be multiplied. Under the New Covenant, that sign and seal is seen in Baptism for all children of Abraham. Jesus was baptized (As an Adult) to fufill all righteousness, set the precedent of Baptism in Water and Spirit by John, resulting in service and ministry as we should follow. The Law remains to remind us God is Holy and we need to repent and obey that law to Christ's highest intent. Sabbath in the 10 commandments are unique. It was established at creation. included in the 10 and OT law. When NT saints don't rest and reflect observantly, we suffer and grow distant from God. We break all 10 commandments, each of us. But the requirements of God upon NT is to be done by the Spirit and be successful for his praise.
The Law is required for salvation, and Jesus kept it for us.
The Law is required for us to transform in sanctification and the Holy Spirit directs and leads us to obey, by faith in praise and gratitude. But NT saints are not required to obey the law by OT terms, but by NT terms.

I was a reformed Calvinist for almost for 27 years, but moved on years ago. On Wordpress, I have a blog - the Un-reformed disciple. I did a deep dive in the end times which had me look into the seventh day Adventist, and thus got into thinking about the Law. I also recommmend Karl Tester on you tube who is spirit filled and level headed. He takes a different look into who is Israel which has challenged my theology.

I have come to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit entering us is the “law being written in our heart” because He guides and convicts us to reveal sin which is previously what the law did for us. But since the Holy Spirit is with in us we don’t need a outside law- it’s INSIDE us now! And now it’s about walking in the spirit just as you said! Thankyou for the confirmation ♥️
You are right that he puts his law in our hearts. I remember years ago feeling guilty everytime I ate porkchops. I thought it was weird to feel that way until I learned that it was the instructions of God that it was not a clean meat for us. I stopped eating all pork immediately and never felt deprived of that ever since. Every thing God ever instructed is meant for something. Its our job to find out what is the law written on our hearts. Its not different than what God originally spelled out but we gain understanding when we worship(humble ourselves) in spirit and in truth). We cannot understand the Spirit of God without the Scripture to confirm it. Truth never changes.

There were 3 parts to the Mosaic law: *Moral, Civil,* and *Ceremonial.*
The moral part was based on the holy nature of God, the civil was how to relate to others, the ceremonial was the culture and practices, including temple ceremonies, feasts and festivals, diet and clothing restrictions which distinguished them from other nations.
We are not under obligation to observe the Mosaic law. We are under obligation to walk according to the Holy Spirit.
"But if you are led by the Spirit, *you are not under the law."* Galatians 5:18 (The Mosaic law.)

In his letters, the apostle Paul warned the believers in the churches in Rome and Galatia not to place their hope for salvation in the works of the law. To the Roman Christians, he said, “For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his [God’s] sight” (Romans 3:20). To the Galatian believers: “We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (Galatians 2:16; cf. 3:5). To justify is to declare righteous.
The “works of the law” are the actions performed to fulfill the Mosaic Law found in the first five books of the Old Testament. Keeping the Sabbath, being circumcised (the issue before the Galatian churches), eating “clean” foods, and other ceremonies are powerless to justify us in the sight of God. In addition, following the morality of the law (not murdering, not committing adultery, not stealing) is insufficient to make us right in God’s eyes. No act on the part of sinful creatures can result in God’s declaring them to be righteous in His sight.
Why can’t the works of the law save us? First, because the works of the law can never be done completely. The standard is perfection, and that means “good enough” won’t pass muster. Paul explains to the Galatians: “All who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law’” (Galatians 3:10, emphasis added). James further explains that anyone who offends in just one point is guilty of breaking the whole of the law (James 2:10). There are over six hundred individual commandments in the Mosaic Law, and breaking just one of them one time renders a person guilty. No one but Jesus ever kept the law perfectly.
Second, the law was never intended to justify anyone; it was given to show us our sinfulness and to reveal the perfect holiness of the Lawgiver (Romans 3:20). Without the law, we would not know what sin is (Romans 7:7). The law is holy because God is holy. Just as a straightedge reveals the crookedness of a line, so the law of God exposes our lack of holiness. No one measures up to God’s standard (Romans 3:10). The law cannot justify; it can only condemn. No one can stand before a holy God on the basis of his own efforts, even if those efforts include a hearty attempt at keeping the works of the law.
If the works of the law justify no one, and serve only to reveal our own sinfulness and our desperate state, what are we to do? The Bible offers the only solution to the problem of sin: “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe” (Romans 3:21-22). This is why “the just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17, NKJV).
We can only be declared righteous “by faith apart from works of the law” (Romans 3:28), and that faith must rest in the only Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). To continue to attempt to earn a place in heaven through the works of the law is to ignore the sacrifice of Christ: “If righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21).

When you capitalise TORAH in brackets after a verse of scripture that is not in the Torah you ARE confusing.
You should know that the Hebrew word torah can also mean instruction or refer to the scroll the text is written on.
Since neither of the verses you quote are in the TORAH, it is a stretch to assume they are law. 2 Timothy 3:16

Whose laws do you think that Christ followed and obeyed???? There was no new testament at the time, the OT was quoted constantly throughout the NT, only so many don't understand because they have never read it. Jesus followed the law of moses, not to be saved, but because He loved His father.

Yes, Jesus kept all of the law given through Moses perfectly, and was the only one to do so. He came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. If he abolished it, we could not read it today, it would not exist. He said nothing, not a dot or titl, and letter would be taken until all had been fulfilled, and until everything has passed away. I know people don't like when others say that since it has been fulfilled, it is now abolished, and their reason is because of that next part. In that day, it won't exist at all. It still is here though, so that we know the history, so we can learn from it, so we can know how things started and how we arrived to now.
Also, Jesus was ripping the Pharisees when he said that, because they were adding to and taking away from that law. But Jesus did indeed fulfill it because no one else could. After doing so, he has become the new high priest, of a different priesthood not mentioned by Moses. And why would there be reason unless the first covenant/testament(law of Moses) found fault? In saying, "the new covenant in my blood", and there being reason for a better, the first has become old.
The new testament as we have it today, was gradually written and put together even then. The Apostles gradually learned, years after Jesus ascended and they recieved the Holy Spirit, that this plan of salvation was also for the Gentiles, going back to when Jesus said, "to all the world". Up to then it was only to the Jews. The believing Jews were persecuted by the unbelieving Jews. This is seen through the 4 Gospels, and through Acts, and continues with all the letters.
God revealed to Peter, to Paul, to the early church that things were changing, and the Gentiles were not required to keep the law of Moses. This was covered in Acts 15, and more than a handful of other places. In different places it talks about those Jewish believers who taught that you must keep the law of Moses to be saved, and in other cases, said that they must keep the law anyway, even without it being for salvation. Paul rebukes such teachings, and the teachers. Do you not hear the law? That it is not of faith, but whoever lives in it must do it? And, cursed is the one who does not keep Everything in the law. Read Acts, Romans, Galatians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Timothy, and there's still more.
We literally can't keep the law now even if we wanted to. The Jews couldn't keep it when they could theoretically could keep it. God doesn't give any allowance, any exception that says just do your best to keep as much of the law I gave through Moses as you can. If anything, Jesus said, don't do what the Pharisees do, but do what they teach. If we are to live in the law, we are required to keep all of it. We would come under the same oath that Israel took in Deuteronomy 27 and 28, and agree to the conditional blessings and curses.

Have you not heard, cursed is the one who does not do everything written in the law? And the law is not by faith, but whoever lives in it must do it? There is no exception from God saying that we can try to follow the law given through Moses, because God gave it to Israel, and that we don't have to do it all. Again and again, God says, keep all if it. In Deuteronomy 27 and 28, even through 30, you can read how the Israelites after being given that law, swore under oath, that they agreed to the terms, that they would come under the conditional blessings, or the curses, that were dependent upon whether they kept everything, or not.
If you try to live the law of Moses because Jesus taught it(to fellow Jews also under that law), then you come under that oath as well I believe.
Read what Paul says in Galatians and Hebrews. Read Acts 15. The Gentiles are not required, were never commanded to obey the law given through Moses. The Jews wanted the Gentiles to, but God didn't. Peter, James, Paul, they say, why do you tempt God to put them under the yoke which neither we(Jews) nor our Fathers could bear? God has purified their hearts by faith, and made no difference between us and them. They agreed to instruct the Gentiles to abstain from only 4 things, so as not to offend the Jewish believers, so that they may have fellowship. And also Gentiles were known for those things. The Gentiles after hearing the letter rejoiced. Acts 15. As far as verse 21, it isn't saying they should follow the law, otherwise it makes null the purpose of the whole chapter, there would have been no disputing, no council to consider the matters, Paul, Peter and James wouldn't have said what they said, everyone wouldn't have come into agreement. It is saying that since Moses is preached in every synagogue in every city(Jewish cities), most Jews were brought up in it, we should tell the Gentiles to abstain from these 4 things. For fellowship with believers in Christ, to not offend. Look at Romans 14.

Almost everything I wrote in replying last was Scripture. And it remains true that no one can keep the law given through Moses. No one but Jesus could, even when it was being practiced in it's entirety. But now, it is impossible to follow it even if you wanted to. There is no temple, no tabernacle, no priesthood, no sacrifices and offerings. Besides the fact that Jesus became the sacrifice once and for all, and the one who would dare offer a blood sacrifice to God should fear, since he is rejectimg and disregarding God's perfect sacrifice, His spotless Lamb.
It also remains true that if you want to live by the law of Moses, you must keep all of it.
Yes, 1 John 2:6 says that. But 1 John, doesn't say that we Gentiles should follow the Mosaic law. Yes, Jesus walked, and lived in the Law of Moses. But How did Jesus walk? He walked and lived in love, He is the embodiment of love.
1 John is all about love.

His commandments for us are, 1. to believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and 2. Love one another as ourselves, as we want to be treated.
Jesus said that all the law of Moses, and the words of the prophets stand on two things, that we love God with all of our heart, soul mind and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves.
What is in 1 John is consistent with what Jesus said during His ministry in the Gospels.
You have to read the entire chapter, and entire book. I have read and listened through a number of books many times, and have read or listened to each book in the new testament I think once or twice minimum. Some I have read and listened straight through probably close to a dozen times.
Without the law, you wouldn’t need grace. It’s the LAW which reveals sin. Forget righting too since that’s in OT, and the Ten Commandments. Jesus lived the law perfectly. Jesus is TORAH. Our sins were nailed to the CROSS NOT the law. Paul was all things to ALL men. He was a Pharisee. He obeyed the law.
Yeshua condemned the Pharisees because they did not keep the commandments, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?...And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men" (Mat 15:3,9). "He answered and said to them, 'Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me, And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men...All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition'" (Mark 7:6-9). Paul was a pharisee and he did not keep the 10 commandments. He was a total antichrist who has led billions into hell

The 'Law of Christ' is not complicated. Paul tells us what it is in Gal 5:24-6:2
'Those who have crucified the flesh with it's (sinful) passions and desires' are WALKING IN THE SPIRIT. If you see a brother NOT walking in the Spirit, you need to restore them gently. And this IS THE LAW OF CHRIST.
In Gal 5:18-21 Paul tells us that those who are 'under the Law' are those who are NOT KEEPING THE LAW. Instead of keeping the Law they are transgressing it. They are guilty of WALKING IN THE FLESH by committing adultery, fornication, idolatry, hatred, uncleanness etc

If you don't want to be UNDER THE LAW crucify your flesh, STOP WALKING IN THE FLESH.
Stop breaking the Law and instead start keeping it.
Be ready to be a watchman for your brothers if you see them breaking the Law i.e. walking in the flesh, AND THIS IS THE LAW OF CHRIST.
@Child of The Covenant You have misunderstood me and Paul then. Paul is not teaching that there is some new Law of Christ that we need to follow. In Gal 5:42-6:2 Paul is just teaching us that keeping Gods Law is keeping the Law of Christ. Keeping the Torah requires us to crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit (i.e. walk in the Spirit = keeping the Torah because we are subject to it Rom 8:1-7). Those who are walking in the Spirit (KEEPING THE TORAH) are keeping the Law of Christ, BECAUSE He is the law giver, the Torah IS HIS LAW. in Gal 5 Paul specifically teaches us the keep the Law of Chrsit in this way; when we see a brother walking off the path, by sinning, the Law of Christ requires us to go to them and so bring them back to the path ..... as James teaches us in Jas 5:19-20

Torah does not have to automatically mean the law given through Moses. Torah = Law. But neither Law, nor Torah, define what is in it.
There was the Torah given through Moses. There was the Torah given to Adam and Even. There was the Torah given to Noah. All of those Torahs were of God. If the Torah of Moses was all that was absolutely perfect to God for all people at all times, why would God contradict that Law, and the Law He gave to Noah when God told Noah he may eat Any animal on the Whole Earth as the fruit of the tree, as any plant or vegetable? Why woild God command Noah to do something that was sinful in God's eyes? Unless it wasn't inherently sinful, but rather it was what God told him to do, and what he was free to do.
God can't contradict himself. Therefore, there must be a Law, a Torah outside of all three of those Torahs.
You are ignorant to believe that Saul/Paul was wealthy and had power and so much influence when he wrote his letters. He wrote his letters after God, Jesus Himself changed him, when He stopped Saul/Paul on the way to Damascus by blinding him and those with him by a great light, brighter than the sun. Those who accompanied him were only blinded temporarily, so that they were able to guide Saul. Saul was a Jew of Jews, circumcised the 8th day, born of the tribe of Benjamin, more zealous than any of brethren in that he persecutedand wasted the church of Christ, he was a Pharisee of high respect and authority. Saul was blind for 3 days, God told him that a man would come and pray for him, and he would recieve back his sight. And God told that other man to go to this place and pray for Saul, who had been persecuting the church. Saul/Paul almost immediately started preaching Christ, that He was crucified and rose again, in the synagogues. The Jews were all amazed and bewildered, wasn't this Saul who persecuted the name of Jesus and those who believed in Him? The same Jews who loved and respected him, became the ones who desired to kill him time and time again. Saul/Paul gave up Everything, his power, money, respect. Paul wrote that he counts everything as a loss, for Christ. Read through the book of Acts, and Romans, and the other letters.

It's easier to get atheists to talk shop than to get a "Christian" to. And basically, it's two different things, apples and oranges. Their "Jesus" repealed the laws. Messiah did not. I watched your videos on Kingdom in Context. You did them very well. I have similar viewpoints concerning the Kingdom of God/Heaven. When you separate the kingdom principles from salvation, many things that seem obtuse become acute.

Being under the law means not under the punishment for not keeping the law
Both Jeremiah and Ezekiel give us prophetic statements of the instruction remaining in being observed. Jeremiah 31:33 and Ezekiel 36:27 reference. "I will put my instructions in their inward parts - write them in their hearts. I shall cause you to walk in my instructions and guard my right rulings and shall do rhem. These statements are given with in the understanding that this will be under the New Covenant, our salvation.

I want to piggy-back off of the first question asked during the live stream about "why would we call them brothers and not false teachers?" In part 1 of their “What is the Gospel” series they seem to conflate “the gospel” with “the evidence of salvation” which is obedience. To the HRM, obedience is the gospel message. They say many alarming quotes in part 1 of the video like:
33:03 “The one who is doing the commandments is righteous because he is obeying the commands. Just as John says. 1 John 3:7. Note that [John] doesn’t say we are righteous because we are in Christ, instead he says the one who practices righteousness, meaning the commandments, is righteous as Yeshua is righteous.” ----- I thought Christ is the one who makes us righteous. Their statement just makes Jesus a good example, but not the Savior.
There are many other concerning statements he makes about what the gospel is, even saying that the feasts are part of the gospel. He does exactly what Paul warned not to do in Galatians 1.
119 Ministries and the Hebrew Roots movement preach a distorted false gospel, and seem like modern day Judaizers. They would have never received the right-hand of fellowship like Paul did in Gal. 2:7-9.
Will you please look into their version of the gospel more, and reconsider calling them brothers. They might be sincere, but they’re not preaching the true gospel. I agree that we can have different interpretations on secondary issues, but they have a completely different interpretation of the gospel. Time stamps to other questionable statements below. I was literally told yesterday by a person in this false teaching, that while I might have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus, that I'm not saved. He went on to claim his righteousness comes from being obedient to the Torah and that he follows Jesus by keeping Torah. He doesn't know scripture- because he didn't argue from scripture. He just wanted every Christian to know who are not keeping the law that they were going to hell. Some of them actually believe that they will be the ones in tribulation who will be killing the "sinners" ( referring to the saints) for the name of God.
These people are not our brethren. None of them are.
Mike, I am a former Messianic congregation leader. I was saved in 1973 and got involved in the Messianic movement in 1990. I was blessed by God by not being caught up in the teachings you have been speaking about. I agree with your teaching and ideas on the scriptures. I have taught these same principles as well. The problem with trying to follow the law is that much of it can't be followed because there is no Temple. That too was an act of God and the display of His desire for us all, Jew and Gentile, to be under the blood and grace of Jesus.
Are you implying that those of us in the HRM reject the Grace and Blood of Yeshua? I'm saved 100% by my faith in that Grace and Blood. And, I demonstrate that by my obedience to His Commandments. You know, exactly how I'm supposed to. And, FYI: You don't need a Temple in order to keep the Sabbath and not eat unclean meats. Neither which Mike teaches.

Great stuff. I completely disagree with some things you say, but I completely agree that nothing we disagree about is an issue of separation or issue of fellowship :) I think you are probably the only person I have found that openly discusses this without throwing either side under the bus.
For example, at 25:40 Mike discusses "under the law" and claims that the definition of that is "the Jews". Nowhere in the text does it say that. But if Mike would keep reading the text instead of taking that small section out of its context, the text clearly says in English "the doers of the law will be justified, not the hearers. The gentiles who are doers of the law are justified even though they don't have it"
Clearly, "under the law" means someone who has transgressed it, "for sin is transgression of the law" 1Jn 3:4
The difference between Jew and gentile there, is those that have versus have not the law. Being "under the law" clearly is being explained in that chapter as transcending nationality or knowledge of the law. The chapter clearly explains that everyone will be judged by the law. The advantage that the Jews had at that time as explained by Paul is that they had the oracles- they knew the instructions, the definition of sin.
That's what the whole 3rd chapter of Romans starts out with as the pretext. Then he says we are "under grace" with which I somewhat disagree as well, because Paul clearly asks beginning in the 6th chapter, "should we continue to transgress the law so that grace may abound? God forbid!"
Paul reiterates in chapter 6 verse 14 that "under the law" means that "transgression of the law has dominion over you".
And verse 15- "shall we continue to sin (transgress the law) because we are not under the law but under grace?"
Anyway, I digress. Those are just some things I disagree with. I'm not one to argue or debate anymore.
I agree with Mike in the sense of, by dieing in baptism as a symbol WITH the Messiah we are new creatures and there is no longer the death penalty for transgression, "there is therefore no more condemnation". Also I agree that our Messiah taught the heart of the Torah, not just the letter.

You said the walking in the spirit is which makes us being obedient to the law of God. @18:30 or so, Mike said that 119 teaches that the way to be free from the law of sin is to be under the law of Moses. This conflates the idea of justification and sanctification. For to be free from the law of sin [and death] is through justification by faith alone - not through obedience to Torah. Torah is our instruction and training in righteousness and that has no bearing on justification (if you adhere to the principle that you cannot lose your justification).
All law is written in two parts. The law telling you what to do and a penalty if you don't obey. I am not "under" the penalty for breaking the speed limit until I break the speed limit. The same way we were all under the penalty for breaking Gods law until Jesus payed the penalty. When I pay a penalty for breaking the speed limit it doesn't give me freedom to continue speeding. Likewise when Jesus payed the penalty for breaking his father's law it doesn't give us the right to continue sinning. Sin is the transgression of the law 1 john 3:4. He requires repentance.

How do you explain the prophecies concerning the actual reign of Jesus on earth after his second coming? Why will there be sacrifices, feasts, etc. in place? Eric. Your logic is good. But are you referring to the law given to Moses at the last part?
Is that law, the law of God, for everyone at all times? If it is the law of God, how could God contradict himself when he told Noah that he may freely eat any animal, Any, as the fruit of the tree, as any plant or vegetable in Genesis 9?( I believe it is 9). That instruction contradicts what God said in the law He gave to the Hebrews, who became Israel, and presently known as the Jews.
There has been different laws to different people at different times. I think that sin, is disobeying what God has told us, we are responsible for what we know.

As for the question on eating animals. We can only speculate why God gave permission to eat meat at that point. But it has to do with Gods permissive will not his sovereign will. Maybe because the land was flooded and unsuitable for growing vegetables? We do know that there was an awareness of clean and unclean animals before the flood because Noah brought 7 clean animals and only 2 unclean. Why the extra 5? Maybe food? We also know that in Gods kingdom we will be vegetarian again because death will be done away with and the lion will lie down with the lamb and eat straw. Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
My understanding is that the 10 commandments are eternal. The sacrifices were penalties to discipline his people as a father should discipline his children or any government penalizes crime. however we no longer seek an earthly high priest because we have a high priest in the sanctuary in heaven. Read Romans 10 carefully because if you continue sinning after having a knowledge of the truth there remains no more sacrifice for sins but a fearful expectation of judgement.
I would also like to point out that the final seal that God puts on the forhead of his people will be related to keeping His commandments, specifically His Sabbaths (plural) exo 13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt. If you study daniel to understand revelation you will see that the beast is the Catholic church and the pope is antichrist and they have NUMEROUS times said that changing the Sabbath to Sunday is her "MARK" of authority. the USA is the image of the beast and will one day cause all to worship rome again. Here he says the Jews are under the law yet he himself is not under that law, but the Law of Christ.
@@sethsisneros8369 under law simply means, under the judgement of the law. if you are obeying the law, you are not under it's judgement. Jesus taught the same law as Moses, the law of the Father. Paul also taught the law of Moses.

I understand the emphasis on “not under law but under grace.” But do you and your listeners understand Revelation 14:12, “who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus”? Paul says that for him “all things are lawful” but he later, near the end of his life, declares that he has never broken God’s law nor even the commandments of the Pharisees. We are admonished to not use our freedom for license. It seems to me that if I KNOW a commandment of God, it makes a whole lot more sense to obey it than to break it, or even to argue that it doesn’t matter. I believe the freedom we experience in Christ is freedom from the ordinances of man that attempt to go beyond God’s command to make it so strict that nobody can actually keep it. Israel went into captivity for 70 years for breaking one of the Ten Commandments. Which one was so important to God that He promised that if Israel would faithfully keep this one commandment, no nation would ever attack them? If you study scripture you will discover that it was the fourth commandment- the very one Christians scorn today. Have you looked at our world lately? Why is there no peace? Could it be related to not keeping the simple commandments of God?
We need the law to reveal to us the sin we are to avoid, so how are we to forget the law?

Speaking of Hebrew Roots... Are you familiar with a group called Straitway? They don't call themselves Hebrew Roots but they basically have the same beliefs on the law, and it's a cross between that and Black Hebrew Isrealites. It's been a growing movement in my area. I have a friend who is a retired Green Bay Packer, and he's been using his celebrity up in this area to spread this doctrine and he has gotten a large following, claimed to be a Christian at one point and was involved with lots of ministry, until something happened and he got mixed up in this group. I've spent a number of hours talking with him and also some of his followers, and the "pastor" of the movement. It's very cult-ish. But this series has helped me in my dialogue with him, even though they don't call themselves Hebrew Roots, but are very similar.

You are very right. Please, take His word for it. Do not place trust in man, but in Him. Always seek Him and His wisdom. Did he speak in parables? Does He change...? what if, the entire bible is a parable?
Rewatching this a year later after attending a “Passover” event my friend invited me to. One of the ladies I sat next to mentioned she had no idea she was “supposed” to celebrate Passover as a requirement of obedience. And therein lies the way HR gets around things: if you are disobedient, you are not under grace. But disobedience means disobedience to the observance of Torah. That is the language I hear when I listen to HR proponents.

The Grace and Mercy of God is integral to his nature and cannot be changed. It works together with his Law/Torah (which means instruction) for the believer who entered into covenant with him. It's for their benefit until they come to full maturity as they walk out their faith.
Once your sins have been covered by the blood of the renewed covenant, the work begins to rehabilitate or convert your heart from sinning against God's Instructions or Law through establishing it in your heart. This IS the heart circumcision.
This phrase of being "under the law" is another whole subject, taken out of context by main stream Christianity and misinterpreted as demonstrated by Pastor Mike.

Its unfortunate that I can only find one thing to agree with you on and that is, using Grace for License which of itself is not effective to a stony heart as proven in the wilderness, unwilling to keep from breaking the commandments.
It's not true that no one could have kept the written Law of God, its the pharisaic laws that they could not keep, it is what Galatians speaks against yet upholding the written Law of God.

Actually, it's not rendered correctly in English at all, if you go back to where the "New" covenant prophecy is mentioned Jer 31:31 jump over to your concordance, you will see the underlying Hebrew word is 'Chadash' it's Word Origin and Definition is:

So the God of Israel sought to REPAIR the covenant broken by the House of Israel and Judah by the sprinkling of blood,( Heb 12: 24) mediated by the High Priest Yeshua as Moses did at Sinai upon the Holy things and the people. This is the correct understanding and rendering of the Covenant between our heavenly Father through his Son.
There’s a line of argument among some Torah-observant Christians suggesting that the new covenant isn’t new, but rather a renewal of the Mosaic covenant. How and why would someone come to that idea? It seems be driven by the theology of our Hebrew Roots friends who are looking for ways to reinterpret Scripture in a way that shows the Law of Moses is alive and well (and binding) on Christians today. So they’ve arrived at the idea that God’s covenant with Israel has been renewed by Jesus. They believe the Torah has been written on the hearts of Christians and everything it taught at Siniai remains in place today.
The renewal of the Mosaic covenant is recorded several times in the Tanakh. These passages show us what covenantal renewal looks like. The first renewal is found in Exodus 34 while Israel is still at Mount Sinai. Moses made new stone tablets to replace the ones he broke in anger and went up the mountain to present himself to Yahweh (34:2). He then fasted in God’s presence for 40 days as Yahweh renewed the covenant with Israel. He did so by reminding Israel to keep the feasts and Shabbat and not to make idols or serve other gods. And He commanded Moses to write the ten words (the Ten Commandments) on the new stone tablets. So this renewal consisted of a formal presentation before the Lord and a reiteration of the terms of the Sinai covenant, and it did not include the shedding of blood.
The Mosaic covenant was renewed again forty years later in Moab. Deuteronomy 29-32 records God repeating the commands given at Sinai. The passage begins with a formal statement: “These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab…” (Deut 29:1). Moses then reiterates the terms of the covenant, “keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law” (Deut 30:10). And Yahweh reminds Israel of the conditions: they will be blessed if they obey the Law and cursed if they disobey. And Yahweh says,
I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.

Like the first renewal, this second episode also includes a formal presentation before the Lord, a reiteration of the terms of the covenant, and no shedding of blood. This same pattern is found in the two additional renewals recorded in Joshua 8:30-35 24:1-28. In both instances, we find a formal presentation, a reaffirming or restating of the Mosaic law, and a lack of blood. Thus, we have a repeated pattern in the Tanakh of what it looks like to renew the Mosaic covenant.
In stark contrast to those renewals, the covenant Jesus inaugurated included no formal presentation of God’s people before the Lord nor a reiteration of the Mosaic law. There was no reading of the Torah or re-establishing of the conditional blessings and curses. And most notably, Jesus’ covenant was ratified by blood-His own precious blood. “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood” (Luke 22:20, 1 Cor 11:25). Thus, the covenant Jesus cut had none of the earmarks of a renewal of the Mosaic covenant, and every evidence that it was truly something new.

When I was in it, it was difficult to understand your side of the explanations of these passages. I was brought up SDA so the sabbath and other requirements of behaviour was always expected of us and that was life, after leaving SDA system It was easy to continue to repeat their teachings in my mind whilst reading scriptures, and what I mean is, i could read the scripture but my mind was repeating words i was taught in the sda church, so in other words i wasnt reading the bible, i was hypnotically repeatings things i was already taught. Strange thing trying to explain.
But studying along with you and Prof Solberg and even Mike Heiser for years have helped me to read alone again and learn, its a strange thing to have to explain,. It was like we were in a hypnotic trance..... Simple.

If we can agree that this is NOT about salvation, because it isn't. Salvation is by faith not by works. This is about obedience to God. Both sides are genuinely wanting to do what is right according to Scripture. It also seems apparent that one group is being deceived to believe something that is not the truth. So, if Satan is deceiving someone into believing a lie, would it make sense that he is tricking people to follow all of God’s instructions (remember this isn't about Salvation)? Or would it make more sense that Satan would not want people to follow God's instructions and tell lies about why they shouldn't do them?

How i understand all this from my point of view is we are no longer under the levitical law .The levitical law was given after the sin of the golden calf.We are still rather under the 10 commandements (sabbath include)Jer 31:33''I shall put My Torah in their inward parts''. Heb 8:8-10 and Heb 10:16 ''giving My laws into their hearts''
Although I love and appreciate the thoughtful presentation here of the Torah Observant doctrine and Mikes generous heart towards those caught in this error, I have personally witnessed many teaching a false works based gospel. There is the problem of no congruency or sound doctrinal foundation, but I was in a group where thousands were being taught that if you don’t follow as many of the 613 Laws as possible you are, at best, “least in the Kingdom” and at worst, “unsaved”. 119 Ministries teaches we who are not under the Sinai Covenant are “least in the kingdom”
Sheree, blessings to you. I assure you that I and the congregation I attend do not hold to anything other than the grace of God for our salvation. However, we do believe that rewards in Heaven that are to be given to believers (not in a prideful way) are based on the realities of how we have lived our lives AFTER salvation. Even you also believe that some believers love God more than other believers. Perhaps we believe how that is to be done is different from one another. However, please do not think that we are presenting a different gospel of salvation.

The redemption of the human race was also mentioned before the law of Moses, beginning in Genesis 3:15; 12:3 (see Galatians 3:8).

What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? Regarding Romans 6:14....Grace (unmerited forgiveness for breaking the Torah) does NOT give one a license to continue to break the Torah.

This is very true but God's law to which you refer here would not be the Mosaic Law because Gentiles are accountable to God too even though they do not have the Law. This was true in the Old Testament too. Gentiles did receive judgment, but never for breaking the Sabbath or for eating unclean animals, or etc.
@@TheEndIsNear123100 the law as mentioned in Galations is the law that all who have sinned deserve death. The law of God on the other hand is righteous and holy and good. Did Yeshua keep the law and if so what does it mean to follow after him? Not all who say Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but only the one who does the will of our Father in Heaven. What is the will of the Father apart from His law? Grace is the power to obey, not the freedom to live in sin. See Romans 2-3 and don't forget those who love God obey His commands.
@@jesusisthetorah3447 I agree with all this but all the commandments that Jesus spoke are the ones I pursue, minus keeping the whole Law of Moses since I am not a Jew. I know that many of the commandments of Christ are taken from the Torah, yet, we hold fast to his words with the exception of the entirety of the Law of Moses, since we are uncircumcised in the flesh. Do you remember what the Lord told a certain non-Jewish woman? He said something to the effect of 'why do you take the bread of the children and toss it to the dogs?' He said this because he sensed her great need and wanted to test her faith. She replied something to the effect that even the little dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the masters table. The will of the Father is to believe in the one he sent and we do. We are not ignorant of both Peter and Paul's statements concerning salvation for the Gentiles apart from keeping the the Law of Moses which was affirmed to Peter by the Holy Spirit.

It doesnt matter what your nationality or heritage is, if you follow after Yeshua you are to die to yourself and follow after him, which means live as he did. Mike, I know you said we should let the scriptures speak for them selves. I totally agree.
According to Acts 17:11, the Bereans read the 'scriptures' daily to make sure what Paul was teaching was true. Me personally, I don't think they rebuked Paul on anything he taught, otherwise Acts probably would have mentioned it. So, that story makes me ask the a question. Which is, What is the 'scriptures' that they used to make sure Paul was speaking truth? Surely they didn't confirm Paul's teachings to Paul's letters (which I'd imagine some of them weren't even written at that time), right?
Also Jesus, in Luke 24:45 taught from the 'scriptures' as well. Raises another question, was it Paul's letters which didn't exist yet?
There's more, but what I see the New Testament saying is that the Old Testament is the 'scriptures'.
So according to Peters 'letter'(2 Peter 3), ignorant and unlearned people twist Paul's letters and lead people to lawlessness (without Gods Law).
Can you show us anything from the scriptures or the New Testament (that is not Paul) that shows that everyone (Gods people or non Gods people) should stay away/or don't have anything to do with Gods Law? I ask because if you're correct, I fill like God should have told us about it through a prophet (amos 3:7) or someone else other than Paul should have mentioned it supposedly.
If I don't have a legitimate reasoning, please let me know. I'd hate to be someone who falls in the category that calls Jesus master and he denies because of their lawlessness (being without Gods Law), Matt 7:21-23.

Hi Mike, I'm a born again Christian, currently attending an Evangelical free church. Now, God gave Moses the ten commandments, the fourth being "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: So, do we only keep 9 commandments and not 10? Now, I understand that the Hebrew have hundreds of Laws, that's not what I'm referring too. Now, isn't that different from the core 10 commandments? Greetings! Hope you don't mind me jumping in to the question intended for Mike. Short answer is that the 10 words are eternal and the basis for God's government. If you haven't yet, study the OT sanctuary services. The table of stone remained in the ark of the covenant, meaning they are not done away with. The OT Tabernacle was a pattern of what is in heaven.

I take it that Romans 7:6 is your parting swing at Hebrew Roots. So, I’ll tackle this one and then it’s my turn to take a few swings at normative Christianity.
Romans 7:1-6 is the Gospel in a nutshell and requires an understanding of the history of Israel’s relationship to God in the OT. Please note that all covenant language is in the context of Israel.
First, God took Israel to wife at Mt Sinai…the Torah was the Ketubah or marriage contract spelling out all the duties of the wife and Husband. Most important of these was, “You shall have no other Gods before me.”
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which MY COVENANT THEY BRAKE, although I WAS AN HUSBAND UNTO THEM, saith the LORD: (Jer 31:32)
So, God divorced Israel because she went continually whoring after other gods:
8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding ISRAEL COMMITTED ADULTERY I had put her away, and given her a BILL OF DIVORCE; yet her treacherous sister JUDAH feared not, but went and PLAYED THE HARLOT also. (Jer 3:8)

And yet, the prophecies state that all Israel will be back in right relationship with God.

How can this be when God’s own Torah states that a husband cannot take back a divorced wife???
1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a BILL OF DIVORCEMENT, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

But, a woman is released from the law of marriage when her husband dies…she is then free to marry whomever. A Faithful Version (AFV) describes Romans 7:1-6 in language that makes very clear what is going on.
1. Are you ignorant, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know law), that the law rules over a man for as long a time as he may live?
2. For the woman who is married is bound by law to the husband as long as he is living; but if the husband should die, she is released from the law that bound her to the husband.
3. So then, if she should marry another man as long as the husband is living, she shall be called an adulteress; but if the husband should die, she is free from the law that bound her to the husband, so that she is no longer an adulteress if she is married to another man.
4. In the same way, my brethren, you also were made dead to the marriage law of the Old Covenant by the body of Christ in order for you to be married to another, Who was raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit to God.
5. For as long as we were in the flesh, the passions of sins, which were through the law, were working within our own members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6. But now we have been released from the law (see EXPLANATION below) because we have died to that in which we were held so that we might serve in newness of the spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

EXPLANATION:
The phrase, “released from the law” means that through the death of Jesus Christ and the symbolic death by water baptism into the death of Jesus Christ, that Jews and Israelites have been released from the covenant marriage law that bound them to the Old Covenant. It does not mean that New Covenant Christians are released from the obligation to keep the commandments and laws of God (Matt. 5:17-20). Rather, they are now to obey the commandments and laws of God in the newness of the spirit of the law and not just the letter of the law (Rom. 7:6) (A Faithful Version)

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, ...the curse is death. He didn't redeem from the the law of having one God, loving our neighbor by not killing or stealing from them .he redeemed us from the curse only . We still have to have one God and love our neighbors.

I was studying with seventh day Adventists (my family are still in there) and I had to leave when I heard some of their teachings especially the constant studies on obedience to the law and their 3 Angels message which includes revelation 12:14 where in the last days those who keep the 10 commandments will be the saved ones. I also encountered some young guys who were part of the Hebrews Roots movement who came to visit the church and they were so passionate about keeping of the sabbath) anyways I left 2 years ago and have been constantly studying why we are not under the law and your videos are amazing it helps so much because my brother keeps sending me stuff about keeping the 10 commandments and he feels sorry for me saying he’s always praying for me (even though I still attend church and love Christ and rest in His finish work on the cross) these videos make me see Christ even more and love Him so much thank you ❤️

He is a learned and stable pastor, he teaches the whole book with the Messiah in it . One God, one set of laws, for blessing and cursing for the people, One Church, and one high priest. It's a strong beautiful thing. Helps us love God and the Messiah more and more. Not confusing and wishy-washy like your teachings.
1st and 2nd Peter are addressed directly to the Jewish people. There were different laws for Kings, Jews, Gentiles, and even among laws for the Jews, there were subsets in those as well. I.e., the Mosaic Laws had separate laws for regular Jews versus the Priest. In fact, the majority of the Mosaic Laws were actually "priest" related (over 500). Peter said that Paul was difficult to understand. And I believe that the church has ignored Peter. If Paul meant we are not under the Law of God. He would have said so plainly. Paul plainly upholds the Law of God in Romans 7:12-14 and 22. Romans 8:5-8. The Law of God is spiritual. So are we spiritual people of God or not? Do we walk in the Spirit or not? If the Law is spiritual and I claim to be spiritual then I should keep the spiritual law called the Torah. But the church ignores this completely.

To further your point regarding Jewish practice of the law and "gentile" practice of law, would it be fair to assume that it is appropriate for a jew who believes in Christ to still follow the law of Moses because it represents ancient cultural practices by their ancestors? And that for Christians, we follow the spirit of the law?

No longer under the law of sin and death, which is the whole theme of Romans 6. If there is no law, then we have no need for grace or the intercession of a High Priest, Christ. This is so frustrating. Romans 6 is the law of sin and death that carries over to chapter seven where Paul reveals that the law of God is good, and the power of sin in him is what abuses the law of God that he loves, and says is spiritual. Paul's generic use of the term law is what confuses people. Christ was born under the law of sin and death, he died without sin and overcame, and we too are no longer slaves to sin but slaves of righteousness unto God. It's that simple.

@@beckyfrechette4439 Yeshua was a rabbi. It was not uncommon for rabbis to give charges to their followers that mark them as under their rabbis authority. The way of Christ, which is bearing with one another in the faith, forgiveness instead of retribution, and so on are identity markers for his followers. As the old hymn says, "And they'll know we are christians by our love..."
However, just as he said he didn't come to abolish the law of God, he did as rabbis typically did in the second temple period, and that is give charges to identity they belong to him without abolishing or abrogating the laws of God. It's that simple. Revelation 12:17 identifies the enemies of the serpent as those who keep the Commandments of God and keep the testimony of Jesus, their savior and rabbi. Not those who keep the charge of the rabbi alone, for our Rabbi kept the law of his Father, and identify us with his charge. They are not in opposition.
In fact, the law of Christ fully magnifies the law of God from a heart made of flesh rather than stone.
Walk as the rabbi walked and obey his charge. It's a pleasure and it's that simple.

Without the 10 commandments, how do you define what sin is? Why is the law written on my heart if it doesn’t apply to me?
Well if you hold to the law of christ you automatically have the 10 commandments except for upholding the sabbath (but we have our sabbath rest in Christ so we also kinda have that one)
That just doesn’t make sense to me. If the law of Moses is done away with, then it shouldn’t be repeated at all in the law of Christ. Otherwise, it’s not done away with. Christ’s laws should involve totally new laws if the old ones are thrown out. Why throw out old ones to replace them with…old ones?
Example: the law of Moses said Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said all the Mosaic laws hang on this law. Traditional theology says Jesus’s death got rid of this law (why??) when it got rid of the whole law. This was so that Jesus could replace it with his “own” laws, which are summed up with…Love one another. Christ’s suffering in the cross certainly gives a deeper meaning to what it means to truly love, but you can’t exactly call it a change in the actual law. It’s basically the same law! A law that God supposedly established, then did away with, and then immediately re-established. That’s confusing, and God is cannot be the author of confusion.
Jeremiah 31:33 and Hebrews 8:10 make a lot more sense when explaining how the New Covenant changes, not the content of the law, but the location of the law (no longer merely on tablets of stone but inscribed in our hearts) and therefore the motivation with which we live by it. Jesus also promised his disciples that he would send them the Holy Spirit so that they would would walk by the Spirit and not according to the flesh. All of this speaks to a different, more intimate relationship with God that allows us to better understand and follow his will, not to be saved, but as the fruits of salvation. No where do I see any abrogation of any of God’s laws as God’s revealed will for humans.
I really appreciate what you're doing here on your channel. I was under the belief that you still needed to be Torah observant and that Jesus didn't come to bring about a new religion. Your first video on the topic made me question my belief, and as I started to study and pray about it, I realized that the law was put into place for a time and a season. It was there to bring about Jesus, because Jesus was promised from the beginning. God told the serpent (Satan) that one would come that would bruise his head, and he would bruise his heel. Genesis 3:16
I've also come to understand that the law was a radical shift in the way that people acted, and the way they saw God. These laws were very progressive for the time they were written. Understanding the historical arc of the Bible, helps to make it more consistent.
I do appreciate all that I have learned about the way that Jews view God, and the scriptures. I have a lot of love for the Jewish people because without them we would not have salvation! I also appreciate that they kept the scriptures for us! I feel like I understand God a small bit better through opening myself up to seeing it from their view point, but I no longer feel that the law has to be kept. Jesus said it so simply, that the two commands we should follow is to love God, and love others (love your neighbor as yourself) because that pretty much sums it up.
I will say that we all have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Also Romans 14 talks about this whole debate pretty easily, and how we should handle it. They were definitely disputing over these same matters in the first century church. Much brotherly love to you, Mike!

As for what Yahshua said about the two greatest commandments in the law, He gave them as a summary for what the law in detail is aimed to do. Therefore we still need to keep the details of the law because they spell out the two greatest commandments in summary.
If sin hasn't changed and there's no new evil, then it sounds like the righteousness of the law that we were commanded to keep remains today. Besides, what new law can the blood of the Messiah cover if it wasn't given before He died? He only died for the transgressions against the law He gave to Moses. The law is good, righteous, truth, holy, light, wisdom and perfect. We have no better instructions, what is perfect cannot be improved upon.

Samuel wrote about all these things in the manuscript know as "Ancient Law of Kings" which were passed down and preserved. The Noahide Law was found in many manuscripts, ranging from the Talmud to the DDS. Ask any Jewish Orthodox Rabbi or any Kabbalah Rabbi and they'll be more than happy to tell you all about it. Hope this illustration helps. A US citizen is not subject to the laws of Malaysia as long as he is in the States. But if he resides in Malaysia then he is subject to the laws of the country even though he is an American. Both laws in essence criminalise murder and theft, but would penalise them differently. And may even define them slightly differently. There may be legalistic similarity (because of British influence) but they are not the same. So a Christian is not under the Law because of his new citizenship and residence, but under another spiritual jurisdiction, similar to the former because of common roots, but definitely not the same. So no wholesale adoption of the former.
Albert, your analogy fails, because God only has one set of rules, for one set of people - Israel. There is no Jew or Gentile, only Israel.
The people who are under the Law say, look at me, look at my works. The people who are under Grace say, look at Him, look at His works.
Maybe the legalistic people say look at me, but what is faith apart from (works) obedience? How is Christ evident in a believer if they live lives contrary to how Christ lived his life? Look at Christ while I live like him and do what he did, not so I can obtain salvation but so I may know him for who he really is. I challenge you and everyone who claims Christ to walk as he did and keep the law to the best of your ability and see what a delight and revelation it is, its not about us perfecting it, he alone perfects the law in us. It's really about knowing him and loving God.

@@ROGenterprises Firstly God bless and I say this as a brother with disagreement. My understanding from my studies, as Mike has stated Jesus fulfiled the law, he completed it. The law does not bring us salvation nor grace but He works in us through the Holy Spirit and influences our conscious. Our works are a reflection and the subsequent actions (works) as a result in our faith in Jesus Christ; a result of the power of God working in us. Walking with God should not be focusing on the 600+ laws to cherry pick as an individual vs laws that were upheld as a nation. Jesus completed the law to give us that example to emulate.
I really think Mike is on point and supports it well contextually.

What you've said doesn't conflict with anything Pastor Winger has stated. I.e., Is prayer a "requirement" for Salvation? No. If you love, trust, and have faith in God will you pray? Yes. Point being, obedience stems from one of 2 ways:
1) Trying to earn self-righteousness
2) Because you love, trust, and have faith in God.
Does someone pray because they're trying to "work" their way into God's good grace? Or do they pray because they humbly thank and praise God for completing the finished work on the Cross for us? The same principle of prayer applies to following Jesus' commands.

I would love a "law of Christ" teaching too! Especially since the Torah is God's law as given to man through various mediators, including Moses; and since Jesus is God, and He doesn't change, and He, as the Word, gave the law to Moses and because He repeatedly affirms that He only spoke what the Father told Him and affirms the 10 commandments repeatedly. I mean, you do realize that the same Jesus who “fulfilled” it, also had this to say:

My husband has in the past year taken on Hebrew roots beliefs. Because I am supposed to submit to my husband he wants me to follow the law of Moses. Am I supposed to go back under the law because of submission? This is causing so much contention in our family... It's hard. What am I to do?
The first thing that comes to mind is what Paul says:
1 Corinthians 9:19-20
19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.
Application here would be that it is perfectly OK to be supportive and to be graceful about it but all the while pointing him always to Christ because if he goes far enough in his adherence to the Law he will realize Christ is not allowed to be his high priest (of Judah) nor his once for all atonement (animal sacrifices) according to the Law. In order to remain respectful ask questions in such a way that continually points to contradictions that you see.
However, when it comes to things that are directly opposed to the gospel and the deity of Christ (observing such things that deny Christ as high priest or observing such things that would compete with His once for all atonement, for example), Luke says this of Peter and John:
Acts 4:19-20
19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, 20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

Meggie, the term "under the law" does not mean you are not to keep the written law of Moses, its a reference to any man made religious enactments that contradict the written law of scripture which Jesus defended and upheld. Don't be afraid but do study by leading of the Spirit. The Jews established their own Talmudic laws that brought the people under a form of bondage and therefore sin. Jesus came to free them from that bondage to lead them back to the Torah/commandments of his Father.
his disciples who learned from him this truth sought to restore this understanding and taught the principles of true torah was to love and doing the right thing according to Gods Holiness. We are not only called to be saved but to become spiritually mature, the manual for this design is the Torah which means the instruction of God in how we walk out our faith.

She wants to know how the duty to submit to her husband applies to theological interpretations her husband believes in and wants them both to practice that she believes are not biblical. Before calling 119 ministries your "brothers in Christ" one must ask, are they preaching the same Jesus you are? I've screen shot items from their statement of faith and reached out to them asking them if they believe the Bible is equal to Jesus. In Judaism it is taught that the Torah is an incarnation of God. I asked 119 ministries if they believed the Bible is an incarnation of God. They agreed. While all scripture is Spirit breathed, the bible did not die for our sins. They are borrowing from Judaism and intermingling it with Christian faith. As Jesus taught, a little leaven leavens the whole lump. They need to repent.
Also, there needs to be clarification with them as to what covenant they believe we are under. Most HR/Torah followers believe we are in a RENEWED covenant, not under the NEW covenant.
There are so many scriptures we could quote to point out there is no such thing as a renewed covenant. However, Galatians 3:15 is a nice nugget, it reads: "Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case."
There is no adding or subtracting to the Sinai covenant. There is no adding or subtracting to the New covenant.
If we want to be clear on what followers of Jesus Christ are to pay attention to with regard to the law Dr. Michael Brown described it best. If a law is written in the Old testament, mentioned by the prophets, taught by Jesus Christ and reiterated in the epistles then those are the laws Christians should be aware of and following. This would EXCLUDE - Dietary laws, feast days, and the seventh day Saturday sabbath as "the" day of rest. It would EXCLUDE wearing Tzitzits, a woman covering her head, growing your beard (although I hate shaving so I love having a beard) and other such items. Many in the HR/Torah movement also believe the New covenant takes place once we are Resurrected in the second coming of Christ. This is NOT scriptural. There are many problems with this movement, and they wear you down with their eisegeisis.

Because they believe Jesus is the messiah. To me it is no different than the other 30,000 denominations of Christianity. If you throw out the HRM (most I know claim Jesus is the messiah) you have to throw out every other one who doesn't believe just as you do. Some churches believe in healing and prophecy, some don't. Thst isn't a salvation issue just as doing the commands of God isn't a salvation issue in my book. It's all about a relationship and not religion. Just because their religion looks different than yours doesn't mean their relationship is. I would honestly say most people have religion and no relationship. That is where the big concern should be.

In Matt 19:17, Jesus very plainly told the wealthy ruler that following the Decalogue is not an optional for believers. In 1 Jhn 3:22,24, John basically repeats what Jesus said in Jhn 14:15 where He said the ppl who have a relationship with Him live by the Decalogue. In Matt. 7:21-23, Jesus warns that there will be many believers will find themselves among the condemned because they chose to ignore God's commandments. There is absolutely no place in God's Kingdom for those who are set on rejecting His authority.

Please know that I do not want to put a yoke upon anyone. For trying to place the commands for salvation on anyone is a burden that they cannot bear. However please consider this as a matter of being made holy by God, being set apart and sanctified for His use.
If the Spring feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Pentecost) have been fulfilled in the first coming of Christ and the Fall feasts (Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles) point to His return AND if the feasts were to be abandoned after His first coming... why did God appoint the Fall feasts at all? If it was good to observe the Spring feasts up until the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, then it would seem good to observe the Fall feasts up until His return.
What else in the Old Covenant might we be missing by throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Please do not judge those who are looking into it.
I enjoyed your video but you didn't mention any scriptures that tell us to keep God's Commandments because we love Him, 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. Plus you didn't mention in Matthew 5 that whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and TEACHES others to do so will be called the least in the kingdom of God. (at least He didn't say we're going to hell) There are many scriptures that tell us to keep God's Commandments which is the law, we're just not keeping them for salvation or justification. But out of love.
You made every argument against being obedient. But His commandments are a joy when you love God! Jesus died so we'd stop sinning! What is sin? Breaking God's Commandments! Read all the scriptures about obedience and keeping His commandments and quit trying to circumvent them! 😉

Thank you pastor Mike for the videos. I had never heard of Hebrew roots before but am starting to lately. I like your ministry and thank you for your hard work. This topic seems to be difficult. A lot of 119 ministries are interesting. Let's take pleroo as an example. The meaning can mean many things like to fill to the full, complete, verify and fully preach (as used in Romans 15:19). In Matthew 5:17 it appears to fully preach fits in context better because Jesus just talked about being the salt and light of the world. This can be confusing for sure because if pleroo does mean fully preach here it completely changes the meaning of the verses. What are your thoughts?
If Jesus gave, added or took away from His Fathers law then ...how can he be Messiah, since Messiah had to be perfect? Giving us a new law "Law of Christ" would have been caused him to break the Torah (what they had at that time). Accusing Christ for changing the law, removing adding or taking away would put us in the same group as the Pharisees who accused Him for Changing the law. I think that we have to be careful in causing a contradiction between Christ and the Father.
Yeah this channel misunderstands, much like the Pharisees of the time. Jesus told them he had come to fulfil the law, and he did. All who come to him... IT IS DONE. When you put your faith in him, you are sealed. Did that abolish the law? No... people who do not come to him, still die under that law, and i mean second death.

Commentator needs to read the Bible, King James Only. The Hebrews kept bringing up Moses to Jesus and he told them he didn't offer them bread from heaven at all... HE was the true bread from heaven! This was regarding the requirement of circumcision specifically, correct?
My question to you is: Is the law of circumcision a jot or tittle. What does this mean that circumcision has passed from the law?
Matthew chapter 5 was early in Christ's ministry. You have to read the rest of the verse about the jot in tittle. TILL all be fulfilled.
So nothing was to pass from the law until all was fulfilled.
But circumcision was not required anymore. What was all fulfilled that allowed for a jot or a tittle to pass?
Jesus said everything in the law and the prophets that was written about him, he came to fulfill all of them.
Luke 24:44 KJV - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Romans 3:21 KJV - But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

There is still much to be fulfilled before the law comes to an end, like revelations 21:1-4 that tells us at the new heaven and new earth is when there will be a new order of things.

Gods Law is liberty. By the modern Church telling us to not keeping it, it's denying us our freedom and blessing.
I view the modern Church as a house built on sand like in Jesus parable.

There is no confusion when you read this passage. It is clear as day. We are not under the law but are under grace. Case closed.

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. What shall we conclude then? You know you can't just leave isolation passages like these , in 3:21 Paul says about this new things God has done through Chrins (which is not a part of the law of Moses) is witnessed by the LAW and the prophets. If you could deal with what Mike was saying rather then trying to sword fight with scriptures would help you out.

@@ROGenterprises you seem to still dismiss that humanity is all under law , wether Israel under the law of Moses or Gentile under the the law that God revealed to them as Paul describes in chapter 1-2 , and we are all under Christ law , now the law of Moses or lawless. If you could read Galations and Hebrews and and see how those books come against the very thing you try to build (which I believe are both works of Paul as well) and come back to Romans and see that Paul is consistent rather then working both sides of a sword fight . You need to make a video that answers ONE simple question. "What is sin"? I listened to your similar explanation video. It was weak. There is only ONE definition of "sin" according to the old and new testament.
Here's a couple of definitions for you, sir, that come to my mind: "If anyone, therefore, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, IT IS SIN for them" (James 4:17). "Everything that does not come from faith, IS SIN" (Romans 14:23). "Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop SINNING - for there are some who of you are ignorant of God" (1 Corinthians 15:34).

Maybe you touched on this already but how would you deal with various scriptures in the Torah that explicitly command the Jewish people to obey the law. It is a reoccurring theme throughout without some sort of end date of law applicability. Do Jewish people have to obey law and Gentiles do not, does a Jewish person who comes to believe that Jesus is the Messiah suddenly have a pass the frees them from the law? To me the Torah as well many passages in the OT are quite adamant on the importance of following the law and repercussions of failing to do so.
there are 2 people. Sinners who never repent and never keep the 10 commandments and sinners who do repent and keep the commandments because they have repented from breaking them. Gentiles are commanded to keep the 10. if they were not then they would never need the savior in the first place. They would not be sinners in the first place if the 10 did not apply to them.
It seems that the entire context of Romans 14 has to do with a division in the church about s specifics dealings with what they are saying you can eat and cannot eat on what day you can eat it and not eat it. So the “one man esteem one day above another” seems to have to deal with the topic and issue being dealt with in the context of Romans 14
Also Colossians also seems to deal with the holy feast days in which apart from the 7th day sabbath was the be treated as a high sabbath , that’s why Paul says let no man judge you in.....then he goes to name everything attached to the feast days to new moon, offerings, and the fact that those high days were to be treated as a high sabbath ,but apart from the 7th day sabbath commandment.
“Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commandments is what counts.”1 Corinth 7:19. Am I wrong when this looks like Paul weighing the law vs the law? Circumcision as pertains to the law of Moses vs the Law of God ......the commandments. When it says the law was added because of transgressions I believe it’s saying the law of Moses was added due to transgression of Gods law in which apart from everything Moses wrote on parchment paper in a book, God himself wrote them with his own hand. Anyways these are things I ponder and pray about because I wanna please to LORD and not take anything for granted.
I'd like to know if you have or will do a video on the book The Scriptures it's a Bible that tries to tell you that the New Testament was not wrote in Greek it was wrote in Hebrew I don't think it's a very good version of the Bible and wondering if you could look into that

I think it's quite easy in a way to understand. If someone came greater than moses then why do we obey the law of moses and now the commands of jesus?
The Law was authored by YHVH, not Moses.
