Yes but hypothetically what if I wanted to press devilment before tech step to see potential large number and make my dancing partner slightly annoyed.
Bard isn't over complicated, it's actually under complicated. It has so much shit in its kit now that just doesn't interact with itself in any way. You put up your dots because... well, they're there. You press apex arrow because... well, I pressed my song 60 seconds ago or so and now it magically generated some other random GCD. You press sidewinder because... well, my one random 60 sec oGCD is off CD now. Bard would be significantly more fun/interesting if any of its like 5 systems and 4 gauge bars and multiple procs had any interplay besides the fact that you did, in fact, press your songs in order. Also it's cringe that they put new summoner in the game and didn't change bard's song system to function identically to the new summon system, because they are the same system except bard's is janky, worse, and can't ever change order.

Sadly while everyone else stacks for Curing Waltz, the melee partner is off to fucking Narnia trying to land positionals between rear and flank, so good luck with that.
During Tech window, is actually marginally better to prioritize Fountainfall and Reverse Cascade over Standard Step due to potency changes and Tilana granting the effects of Standard Finish. If you have enough Esprit, you will actually intentionally drift Standard Step out of your Tech window in order to do slightly more DPS. Just don't EVER press Cascade during a Tech window or you will do marginally worse and do slightly less DPS.
Since flourish doesn't overwrite procs anymore it's actually better to continue your 1-2 combo instead of using a flourish proc assuming you won't be overwriting a basic combo proc assuming when doing your sub 90 busy phase. Love the guides.
... if they want to reduce button bloat instead of removing kaiten, why not just add a Single Target / AoE Stance to all jobs so we can swap between AoE single target abilities, rather than having literally the same skill, but for AoE x 12?
