Good review. I could write a 59-year review. Purchased my Pitt Minion in June 1963 and it's as good as ever. It remains in excellent condition.

Probably the best Bible review ever. Your little buddy has been so faithful to you. Such a sweet little Bible.
I truly wish I could see well enough to read this Bible.... what a treasure.
I like to see well worn books and Bibles. They have been loved...

Love it. I've had my brown goatskin ESV for a year now and it's been a faithful travel companion. It will probably take me 2 or 3 times longer for it to be as worn, but I'm not using it daily as I do others. God bless you Pr. Matt.

I would NOT pick the split calfskin simply because it shows so much wear and tear. I’m sure the leather fells soft and supple, but it looks, as you said, like a “tattered mess” and has taken a lot of wear and tear. I prefer my Bibles to look in good condition, especially if I’m taking them somewhere like to a Bible study or Church service-although I know that some people enjoy that “used and abused” look. I’m just not one of them. But I thank you so much for your review on this Bible. It shows me what would NOT work for me, although I’m glad it made you happy. God bless you.

I have one of these in brown goatskin that I got back in 2003. After a few years the book block began to separate from the cover similar to yours. To fix this, I glued the entire spine with Gorilla Glue. I also placed heavy duck tape on the inside liner because it was cracking all over the place. It's not pretty anymore, but the only way it can wear out now is if the cover or pages themselves begin to totally disintegrate which is not likely any time soon. The Cameo goatskin should last quite a bit longer because it is edged line, but I love these Pitt Minions for their slimness and style. At any rate, you can't go wrong with any Cambridge Bible!

What an amazing little Bible! I think I may need to purchase this Bible next. I give away my Bibles to friends, and family members whenever I want to purchase a new one to justify buying a new one. It makes me feel good to share my Bibles. Thank you for this video!

I do this at an appropriate time as a testimony of faith.
My prayers are many years from now the gifted Bible will guide them through times of challenge.
      Be strong and courageous.

I’ve been looking for a Bible review that shows honest wear and tear, and this one takes the cake. A truly used and loved Bible.
I just started a new job that requires me to travel 50% or more of the time and I need a Bible I know I can trust to take the abuse.
I own Schuylers and they’re beautiful but the money spent on them I don’t think I can justify beating them in to oblivion
However the Pitt minion (while not cheap) is still inexpensive enough to Justify bringing with me and not concerning myself with abusing it.
My next purchase will be this Bible

Greetings to you Rev. Matthew Everhard, I just had an amazing opportunity to buy one of these at a great price, so I am looking forward toward it. I love watching your Bible and book reviews and crash tests, of course. I have a question on this one. Do you have info in any of these videos how you added the ribbons? I can do these myself, but I am wondering how you may have done them in a much smaller, narrower, width area? I would like to add ribbons on the one I will receive. Did you stack them or try to spread them out under or over the top headband? I would appreciate knowing, and thank you so very kindly. God bless you in Jesus' Name.

Great review! I can’t decide on the brown goat skin or the calf split. Do tend to care about using a red letter bible? I want the goat skin but for some reason it doesn’t come in a red letter. Do you have a preference on this? Thanks! Blessings.

The goat skin version looks pretty amazing! I might spring for that one in the very near future. Do you happen to have any recommendations for a good product to use for family bible study? I have 4 children ranging in age from 10-17 years old. I've been trying to find a good resource that comes from a reformed perspective. I would like to make post supper bible studies a routine, once I find what I'm looking for. As my wife is a direct descendant of Dr. Phillip Doddridge, I thought his Family Expositor would be cool to use, but the older vernacular would be more difficult for the kids to grasp I think. I'd appreciate your thoughts if you have time. Thanks Pastor Matt.

Hey there! I know I’m way behind this comment lol, but if you’re still considering ideas, I’m thinking of using the Confessions as a table study with the fam. My daughter’s less than 2, but as she gets older I’d like to go through the catechisms and confessions, and then use the scriptural references as our study. Just one idea

Are there other Bible sets like the Wide Margin/Pitt Minion? Bibles with identical layouts but different sizes? I'd like to buy a set but I'd rather not have a two column bible, or maybe with the references in the gutter?

    • @kingofsalem1225
      @kingofsalem1225 5 лет назад +1

Schuyler's Quentel and Personal Quentel series (available in ESV, NASB, KJV, NKJV, & NIV) would be the place to start. Also, RL Allan's ESV NCR and ESV1 are different size Bibles with identical layouts and pagination. You can get 3 different sized Thompson Chain Reference Bibles in KJV. Church Bible Publishers makes a full size Turquoise and a hand sized edition as well. Hope that helps get you started if you're looking for something other that what Cambridge is offering with the PM & WM.

    • @emelphick4742

jeremy christiansen I bought the same bible after watching Matt's 2 year crash test of this. After almost daily use for about 1.5 years, it's pretty soft and floppy. Hold on firmly to the spine to prevent any damage, then bend the bible back & forth and just work it every day like that. I also find what helps is putting some good quality hand lotion on your hands (not the greasy type), let it absorb into your skin for a bit, then do the same thing or just handle the leather, bending the bible, etc. One of my calfskin bibles from Nelson actually had an insert that advised doing this to keep it conditioned. Mine was very stiff too at first, but it does definitely get nice and soft.

I have the same Bible in KJV. I’ve had it for about 7 months and it just hasn’t held up very well. I’m getting some separation at the title page after the fly leaves and the text block is pulling away from the cover. Had to get a poor man’s cameo from LCBP. Something that can take a little more abuse.

      Matthew 6:24 - .
"What is your only comfort in life and death?" That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready
From now on to live for him. (Heidelberg #1).

If you had truly done this when that Bible was one, two, three, and four years old, the first three videos should have been done on 01/20/2015, 01/20/2016, and 01/20/2017.

Warblerab 295 the idea did not occur to me until late to do annual reviews. Purchased January 2014. First time I reviewed it, the Bible was already 2 years 3 months old. Note the wear already on the cover. "Two Year Review" was the original idea. It was then 2 years 8 months. Three year review, it was 3 years 2 months. Four year review was on time at about 4 years.
