Some doubts.. deploying microservice on EC2 will lead IAAS approach that will hard to scale and deployment and many other restrictions. Also, need to do administrative task.. Second query..At the end you mentioned, services can be deployed on different services like lambda/EKS/EC2. However, I believe it would not be the cost optimised solution. While we are provisioning EKS then all other services should leverage EKS features.
Hey Anya, great questions! Yes, EC2 will be IAAS, however it is still a popular option for folks who are comfortable managing VM. EC2s running microservices can scale using autoscaling group. If all the microservices are managed by the same team who knows Kubernetes then doing everything in EKS is optimal. But think of this - one team is in charge of one microservice, and another team builds another. Both may not be proficient in EKS. Microservice simply gives you an option to use different language/service for each. The teams need to decide what is the best approach to take based on pros, cons, team expertise. Hope this clarifies a bit.

In your experience, is it the senior archetects that decide the option of polyglot or the choice of programming language or is it the dev team that decides once they get the architecture reqs from the architect?
