First off, Semper Fi brother! Then, I have to say I love some great spots in the interview: 3:09 "He was Just a little bad ass", Lol - describing his grandpa the Navy Corpsman that inspired him to join. 5:40 Drinking Chivas Regal and Pipe tobacco! Yeah, he was prepping your liver and your lungs for the Marine Corps!! Navy Corpsmen are true bad assess for many reasons but keeping us alive and keeping their calm in the toughest spots with us. 8:05 Doyle, Sharing your dads story at the VA is great, with every interview, sharing a little bit of his story is pretty cool stuff. 12:40 "I didn't join the Marine Corps to be treated nicely." All recruits listen up, man up or don't join, its that simple, great advice! 19:05 "I got hit by a rocket" Like, you know its not a big deal, I have to get back out there. That's some heroic stuff right there, damn. 23:30 "Hundreds of gunfights" This is just one of many stories I imagine, wow! Understanding true leadership, people don't get that, you're gonna step on some toes at times.29:35 "they were more scared of the taliban more than us" "we were gonna fear us more then them" Fear is more powerful than money, TRUTH! 33:10 "watching the rounds hit the water next to me" 35:45 "a fucking dog bit me in the leg" Really? I mean, dealing with insurgents and taliban is enough but now dogs?!? 36:30 "when I start running they're going to shoot at me" who in the hell knows they are running in the open and going to get shot at, still does that, to save others? Many people talk shit in life about being a bad ass, that is some bad ass shit right there that your grandpa and your dad and really ALL Americans should be proud of and all warriors need to hear about real courage! 36:45 "about half way there I get shot in the leg" just gloss over it as a graze but a "graze" from a .30 cal round, which is essentially what an AK47 is, is not small or insignificant matter. Adrenaline is way better than cocaine brother! I know you don't make a big deal of it and this is why you have a Silver Star, you are a real hero! 38:50 "don't you tell nobody", Lol 39:23 "you did good shit today", after all this, and your description of your relationship with Tucson, I thin you said his name was, I bet his recognition of your valor on the battlefield, meant more than that Silver Star ceremony. 40:48 "took his kevlar off and put his Boston Red Sox hat on". "43:53 " DI school student and I didn't get along", "ended my time there". That's the kind of crap that weakens us as country. This well rounding "B" billet bullshit. Let the warriors be warriors or make warriors instead of this garbage. "joined for one reason, to go to war and when politics start getting involved, we gotta jet" Its a joke all the politics that affect warriors decisions to stay or go. 46:36 "we are out here to find bad guys and end them, that's our job as United States Marines." OOH Rah!!! "obama was the worst thing to happen to the military." no commentary necessary. 49:14 "we didn't fight for you to kneel on a field or burn a flag." 53:11 getting shown the Silver Star in PT gear, "I'll take it right now" don't need no ceremony, Lol Its amazing that in the face of death, you did not cower or hesitate but in the face of recognition, you struggled. It shows so much about that you were there and doing your job because that's what needed to be done, not for all the accolades. 55:31 "I went across the street and got drunk and didn't come back." THAT is like a boss! Drop the mic moment! Isn't it poetic in a sense that you used the, take a shit to excuse, to our shitty media who shit on Veterans every day! LOVE IT!! I take my hat off to you Sgt. Mac. It is an an honor to call you a brother. I was never in combat or in the theatre of war during my time in but I was teared up and charged up and really enjoy how you describe developing your skills to be a honed in, efficient and effective WARRIOR and how embracing it is survival! I appreciate what you've shared here, I'm sure as cavalier as it may appear, these aren't great thinks to talk about but they need to be talked about, I imagine, in many ways its like therapy. Also very appreciative of your service and your sacrifice and the candid conversation you had here. If you ever come to Detroit, I would really like to have a beers with you and if I ever make it to Houston again, take you out for one but I'm sure you get that a lot. EVERY Marine or Veteran needs to watch this interview!
Thanks for the love and shout out my brother. Almost ;-) teared up reading this! That you took time to put this comment in detail says so much about your character!
