I know this will become my go to RUclips channel. You are both great presenters and I'm glad you are keeping it real and showing the challenges involved in running this stunning home. Thank you!
Thanks guys I really enjoyed the video. Who does all the hoovering and dusting. Do you just do one room everyday and when you get to the last one you have a day off and then start again 😅
@@stevenmanns248 you need to comment under the video - you have responded under my comment so they will never see this comment which is a very good observation 🙂
Oliver Cromwell slept in your house?! I mean…🤯 That’s seriously the coolest thing you could say about Chavenage - and there are a LOT of cool things to say about it! Definitely keep the avocado sink! It’s not the usual darker avocado. I’m with you on that Emma!
I shot a scene for a student WWII short film here around 2 years ago called The Coward. Beautiful location and oh my what a building! Caroline was wonderful and super helpful allowing us to use multiple locations around the house (including oak room - my fav too!) just to support young filmmakers. I was shocked and thrilled to see it star in new series Rivals too! I'm in Malmesbury - would love to come back and have another look around at some point and very excited for this series [wish I was working on it]!
Oh my word, I've watched GCN for a few years now and loved watching James or should I say Hanks advetures on the show, Such a privilege to inherit and take over and care for his families historic home. Absolutely looking forward to watching James and Emma's adventures at the manor progress. Wishing you both all the best with this amazing project.
Thanks for letting us into the family home as well as the bit the public see. So much space and potential. The old nursery would make a superb upstairs living room
That finale room really would be a beautiful drawing room with a projector screen coming down from from the ceiling! Even the green fire place would bring in so much character
You are such a charming couple, it will be enjoyable watching your story unfold. I am so glad those beautiful estates are being revived and shared with the world! Bravo!
I can't wait to see the kitchen-I love old kitchens. It was fun to recognize the rooms featured in Poldark. I love all of the history in the house. It must be so surreal to have all of that surrounding you. Not many people get to connect with things that their ancestors lived with.
Renovating a 6 bed farmhouse from the 18th century took us 14 years and a great deal of money so I can only imagine the journey you are embarking upon. All the best, I’ll watch with interest.
I like this couple! Will definitely return. Very down to earth and you just know they'll be realistic about the challenges ahead, therefore allowing us to invest. If I may say so you are lucky in one way, amid the challenges, you're located in the Cotswolds. But I have a feeling you will absolutely make the most of it and be knowingly grateful. Good luck to both of you :)
What an absolutely magnificent piece of English history. This only furthers my resolve to move back to the U.K. after over 30 years working and living abroad. The Cotswolds is high on my list. I certainly look forward to more episodes.
A lot of history! Most of it unpleasant- for the serfs & servants. Too much emphasis on wealth of older generations. Made on the backs of undereducated, over-worked lower income class peoples. 🤢🤮
You guys are gonna be huge on RUclips! I live nearby and have always admired your house from afar! You’re so so lucky, my only chance to live there is vicariously through you so I will be tuning in for sure! Good luck! You’ll be awesome!
Hank is my favorite GCN presenter, no more crazy stunts on the bike but keeping histiroy alive. Can't wait to see what you 2 will do with this beautiful place.
I CAN’T EVENNN this house is so perfect! 😍 with the snow it’s such a dream. The warthog needs some love get some embalming creams/oils, my grandfather was an avid hunter and his house was full of taxidermy. We had a leopard complete crumble because we didn’t know how to properly maintain it. Keep the sink, it could be designer stuff. The big room should be a gorgeous study or a drawing room. THAT tapestry is spectacular !
As an Aussie I can only dream about living in a home like yours. Let alone one that Aiden Turner has walked around ❤ so glad you Brit’s are finding ways to keep your family homes for the future. I’d love to live with a ghost 😊
Amazing history! Can't wait to see the wood panelling in the "play room." Just needs to be well lit with soft light, and then it will seem warm and cozy. 😃
Wow! when you are from the U.S. like me to think of living in a house as old as yours just amazes me. I live in a house built in 1901 and we complain about all our upkeep. I can't wait to learn more about the manor's history
I love the great room that’s going to be part of your house . That beautiful , wonderful room cries out for a drawing or living room . Somewhere you and family can go and relax . What ever you decide I am sure it will be lovely. Make it your own contribution to the manor . 👍😊
Hi Janice, thank you so much! We think a drawing room would be lovely, somewhere we can relax in is perfect as life can be really hectic! We will keep everyone updated with what we decide to do xx
Im so excited for what is to come! You guys have a wonderful down to earth feel in your approach to something quite extraordinary. So so entertaining! Thank you for sharing ❤
WOW! Absolutely love this, you are both fantastic presenters, great that you know so much about the house. So looking forward to watching your videos. Will definitely have to do a tour next time I’m in the UK
I have lived in houses dating back to the 13th century and I love learning about the history and how one deals with the challenges involved. The stories these houses tell are endlessly interesting. I subscribed watching my first view of the channel and can't wait to see more,
Thank you so much! being fairly new to the estate I have been learning so much and I agree, the house tell endless stories and have so much character xx
Love your videos growing up at Chavenage with mum (Della) and dad I have been in all the rooms you showcase. Mum would have looked after George, Caroline and Joanna in the nursery. Fondest memories of Chavenage, look forward to the next one.
So wonderful to see such special heritage being passed on to a lovely couple. I liked how you went on deeper through the rooms and doors it seemed magical... Drawing room makes sense for the big one. I kind of really liked some bits of the 90s or 20th century memorabilia as much, it beholds a kind of Diana Spencer vibes to me. 👌
I’m loving this channel, and I’m loving the fact that you have a close family history with it. How wonderful. You both are very charismatic and I know this channel is going to be a success!! Looking forward to more videos. Thanks from Canada.
It's refreshing to see a young couple be able to really bring the story of the building to life to appeal to a younger demographic. Been watching Hank on GCN for many a year and his energy and willingness to push himself further is just what the kind of thing that's needed preserve this house for the next couple of hundred years. Good luck to both of you 👍
What a beautiful historic building. I am so envious she is absolutely stunning. This is my first time watching and I'm hooked, I have subscribed and can't wait for a full in depth tour of your fantastic home. Lots of love. Jill Birmingham, West Midlands, England. XXXXXXXX
I am SO excited to follow your journey!! The house is incredible! I love history so I will love all that you have to share. The huge room you don’t know what to do with is huge and will be beautiful once you reveal the paneling!
I was already jealous of Hank and his fantastic cycling skills, now I have another reason. Can’t wait to see more of the manor, the businesses and what it really takes to run the place successfully. You’re both great on camera too, so this ought to be one to really enjoy. “Shut that door” 😂
That is absolutely fantastic! The history, house, you both - all that comes together so well. Not to mention the quality of filming and beautiful artistic shots. Looking forward to the next episodes and keeping my fingers crossed for the success of your „little” challenge!
Oh my goodness! The tapestry in the Cromwell room is fabulous! I like your humor and banter, and look forward to seeing what you do with your private spaces. That playroom could definitely work as a home theater, with the columns and arched sections of the ceiling. Your little dogs are so cute.
I think the nursery would make a fantastic family snug. I can just picture it with the fire going and comfy sofas and filled with pictures and other fine things from the house. Could become a lovely cosy but spacious room filled with memories.
Such an interesting house and many amazing back stories! Can’t believe I’m watching Hank from GCN giving a tour…😃 He always was my favourite GCN presenter. Must visit and do the tourist tour. 😊👍
Looks like you need an archive room for all your old documents and old clothing. The library looks like a good contender, though it will probably need to be tempture controlled.
As an American, I can hardly wrap my head around the age of the buildings in England. Chavenage is a few hundred years older than my country. Yikes! Best of luck to you.

George! You HAVE to wear the red military coat in a portrait! It’s beyond cool! You were also looking a bit like Prince Charming. You go Emma! 😅
You should definitely think about ghost tours and events as an income stream. Look forward to seeing how the house evolves 😊
