  • Is British Airways old Club World product really that bad? In short, no not really.
    Despite being scheduled to be operated by the new Club Suite, the aircraft on this flight was switched to one of the three oddball Boeing 777's which have an updated World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and First cabin... but still retain the previous generation Club World seat.
    As I discovered, if you don't care too much about the view and have an open seat next to you, the old product isn't that bad. I found it far better for sleeping too, as your feet aren't in a cubby hole like 99% of the new suites on the market these days.
    Even the lounge in Toronto was alright. Not the best I've been in, but far from the worst. On the subject of the lounge, here's a look at it in 2014 while it was still owned and operated by British Airways:
    • [CLUB WORLD REVIEW] Br...
    These days, it's a Plaza Premium affair, of which BA have exclusive use of.

    I didn’t hate the old club world suites and many of my friends still actually prefer them to a lot of the new cramped suites airlines appear to be installing. I have always found the BA service excellent they have great crew. Thanks for sharing

    maybe the fact that it's somewhat cramped is why it isn't super-expensive as I plan to book a flight to London. still, I think it's worth trying out because of the uniqueness of the backwards seats. and certainly it's gotta be much better than economy

    The upper deck was the best back row loads of storage I liked that

      The last row facing backwards was more private than First Class.

    I have flown Emirates, Qatar, Qantas, British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Cathay Pacific in business class. The British Airways product is easily the worst. Absolutely unbelievable they call this business class.

    I prefer the old Club seats. Much more friendly, Much less claustrophobic

    The biggest problem with this trip is BA don't serve Kir Royale's in Club World anymore.

    Nice video. That weather in Toronto looked miserable.
    Food looked good - I had to mute the sound, that baby. 😮
    I always liked the ‘old’ business class. You’re in a cocoon, and not having a neighbour is always ideal - not a fan of chatty Cathy’s.
    Cheers.

    I find it awful. I've had +10 trips on these seats in the past years, and every time I hate it more. Completely claustrophobic, very little shoulder room, outdated infotainment and having to step over someone if you have a window seat (unless you manage to book one of the 4 window seats with direct aisle access). Not to mention most of the seat padding is gone in the older planes. Club Suites were announced in 2019 and 5 years later only a fraction of the fleet have them.
    Air France, KLM and even sister airline Iberia have much better business products. I'd say only Lufthansa is doing worse, with their ancient 2-2-2 business seats... Hope BA speeds up retrofitting their planes so they can be competitive again

    Well that was a choppy descent (besides the rough period post departure) but a pretty smooth landing! I bet you can't wait to get on another plane with a screaming kid. Seems like it didn't last the whole trip at least.

      The kid was going for a good hour or so. Which was making patience wear a little thin.

    I much prefer these seats to the tight and cramped club suites. I much rather these seats you can have your own little pod and get a great night sleep. The storage does not bother me as can easily get things during the flight if needed and aisle access isn't a deal breaker for me you can easily get out more so than other carriers and it is more private looking. The door sadly is a gimmick whether people wish to admit it or not. Great video although the toronto weather looks awful

      Do window seats not have aisle access? Does a window passenger have to step over the feet of someone who's sleeping?

  • @aidengillag
    @aidengillag Год назад +1

    I actually enjoy it. I call it my own little pod. The only time it's not enjoyable as such, is when you end up having to share the middle twin seats with a stranger. Although thats extremely rare as most couples / familes are assigned these first.

    Storage-wise, terrible. The going around other PAX is awful. The storage bins for some seats are just annoying, as they open if you even breath near them! Aside from those, great!

    • @InflightWithJames
      @InflightWithJames  Год назад

      Sums it up I guess. Not needing too much around me on this flight, the storage issue wasn’t a problem on this flight. Although even the Club Suites aren’t that great if you want a laptop to hand.

    Spoiler alert: The old BA Club World is terrible. It is among the worst long haul business class seats on the market which includes Lufthansa's old business class and Emirates' business on (most) B777s

    • @InflightWithJames
      @InflightWithJames  Год назад

      Have you even flown any of the products you’ve mentioned? Because the old BA Club World isn’t that bad - it just has a reputation for being bad. I’d take that over a certain few others, that seemingly are great.

      @@InflightWithJames, The point I am making is any business class withOUT direct aisle access for all passengers is uncompetitive and therefore bad. Any in 2023 who wants a middle seat in Business

    • @InflightWithJames
      @InflightWithJames  Год назад

      And the point I am making is that you can't comment on something you have no real world experience of. This generation of seat is actually more comfortable for sleeping than the new Club Suite. There are many others with the same opinion.
      Sure, you might end up in a middle seat - but it'll still be more private and nowhere near as hard to get out of as some others out there.

      so you'd just recommend going in World Traveler Plus? Even on a red eye where it makes sense to have the ability to lie down?
