I was lucky enough to be at two of their big concerts in Tokyo in 2020 when they debuted this song…….there were gasps from the crowd….we didn’t think they’d do this one “live” but it was mind blowingly awesome. They surprised us with a classic that night too but that’s another story…..A few weeks later I saw them play BxMxC in Glasgow and it was every bit a s powerful. Su is incredible. Glad you are enjoying BABYMETAL they are very special. You will be given the minutiae of their history elsewhere all I’ll add is you are doing a great job and I look forward to seeing more of your BABYMETAL reactions in due course.

Great reaction again. This was a Japan exclusive track on the third album, it was not on the international release.
A lot of fans didn't like all the autotune and effects they used on Su's vocals for the album recording and many thought they could not and would not play it live. They were wrong - not only did they play it live, Su absolutely nailed the vocals with none of the effects and no autotune whatsoever. The only effects are on the harmonies etc on the backing track.
I was lucky enough to experience this live early in 2020 and this song absolutely blew everybody away - and the same happened at every venue all around the UK and Europe.
I have 'borrowed' this information (again) -
"They talked about 'BxMxC' in a recent interview.
SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget!
    MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall?
    SU-METAL: Uh…what was it…
KOBAMETAL (who happened to be there): Flow?
SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind.".

There are vocal effects on Su's voice in the studio version of several songs but, for some reason, people chose to make a big deal out of the effects in BMC. Go figure.

    • @Grington300
      @Grington300 2 года назад +6

@@jeffschreifels8651 Very true - I think it was the "rise" at the end of each line many thought was entirely autotune and not Su doing it herself that they really didn't like .... and they were very surprised when she was doing that herself when she sang it live.

@Karl Napf I wouldn't really recommend No Rain No Rainbow from Budokan 2014; Su herself didn't even think she was ready to sing that song yet, judging by her comments in interviews combined with the fact that they didn't perform it again until late 2016. Personally I usually recommend the official video for NRNR (the one from Legend S), especially if a reactor has demonstrated that they know how to get around copyright blocks like this one has (see her GC reaction).

BxMxC is believe to mean Babymetal Metal Cypher.... But there is a significant number of fans that believe it stands for Bring Moa Chicken...Once during an interview, when asked how she was was feeling, Moa answered "I feel hungry, I want fried chicken".... Now that you've seen the official music video, your really need to checkout the live performance of BxMxC, either from when this song was first performed and captured on fancams in Brussels (some of them are pretty good quality), or from the Legend Metal Galaxy Concert.... What you heard might have been tweaked in the MV, but Su does it the vocal live just like in the video. Have fun exploring Babymetal!!! 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

  • @autohmae

Thanks for an other great reaction. And we are getting some art work as well ?
BxMxC is their latest world wide release (the song was actually on the Japanese exclusive release of the album, from exactly 1 year and 1 day before).
The album reached #1 on he US Billboard Rock/Meal album chart, a first for anyone from the whole of Asia.
Su-metal did amazing with this song (her first full professional rap song !) and Moametal can win a rap battle with just dancing ! That's also something which needs to be said. :-)
A bit more serious song, but Babymetal kept some of their happy/fun metal side. But much more mature. Very much shows their growth, still kept the kawaii pigtails though. They were 21 and 22.
No idea how much time was spent on that MV. It's a great MV, but Babymetal and especially Su-metal live is even better !
A good video to check out is: BABYMETAL // BxMxC (which is actually compilation of two Blu-ray released live shows, but a pretty good way to avoid copyright issues if done well)
My guess is closest Babymetal has performed to where you are is in Bologna, Italy in 2015 (still not that close, but a LOT closer than Japan) on their second world tour. It might be remembered as one of the hottest performances in Babymetal history. It had a shortened setlist if I'm not mistaken.

I loved this song from the get-go, but there were definitely BABYMETAL fans that took a while to warm up to this one.
    Especially the studio track.
The song title probably stands for "BABY METAL Cypher", or "BABYMETAL Metal Cypher".
They say "Tekina Metaru Saifa" (Metal Cypher-like) several times in the song.
Su mentioned in a recent interview that they wanted their listeners (even existing fans) to say "Nanja korya!" when they heard the 'Metal Galaxy' album.
Roughly, "What the hell is this?!".
They also believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, it's not really a BABYMETAL song.

Nice reaction. This is a big jump from Give Me Chocolate. This video came out around the start of covid lockdowns in Japan. Making it a total surprise when it came out. which explains the use of all the green screen. Short and sweet well almost sweet, the person Su fights name is just enemy in Japanese. The whole video is done in a mortal Kombat style. Including multiple rounds. Where Moa wins a cypher fight by dancing but after she multiples and shoots energy blast from her hands who's going to argue with her? BMC most likely stands for Babymetal metal cypher. But it is also known as the Bring Moa Chickens song by fans. True story. In an interview Moa was asked how are you feeling? She replied with hungry I need chickens. Notice the plural. Moa was really hungry. Many thought that due to the effects use on her voice they wouldn't do this song live. A short time later Babymetal accepted that challenge and did it live. She sang so ggod that the roof fell in. Lol just kidding. She did do the song even better live. Sometimes I think their album recordings are just guild lines for the fans. When they perform live Babymetal shows their greatness each and every time. Enjoy the ride down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

I'm so excited to follow you on your BABYMETAL journey.
Live performances are more often than not the way to go for them. I think one exception to that however would be the song Megitsune since I've found with most of the live performances of that one song you don't hear one very important and interesting part.
Some suggestions I think you could react to as part of your journey into the foxhole:
BABYMETAL - Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997)
BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
    BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL | Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night (HQ)
BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night
Then maybe once you get through some of those you'll be ready for:
BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)
Any time you check out a music video from BABYMETAL you should also watch a live performance of that same song, to get the full experience.
But also, if you want to check out their first ever music video from 2011 you should definitely check out:
    BABYMETAL - ド・キ・ド・キ☆モーニング - Doki Doki☆Morning (OFFICIAL)

This is Su-Metal first time rapping and she is spitting bars and this is why Su-Metal is versatile and can sing any genre given. Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy, it's been a while lol 🦊🤘
BxMxC probably means BabyMetal Cypher but fans like to have fun saying stand for Bring Moa Chicken, because Moa loves fried chicken 🍗
SuMetal is taking a real challenge with this new trap/rap metal song, she needed to find her flow and boi she can spit some bars. She actually rap since their very first song Doki Doki Morning but of course this one is on another level.😎
Again live is the best way to experience this, try live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 or Budokan 2021, the sound of the Kami Band and SuMetal without any effect and clean voice is even better.
Thanks for sharing this double reaction, highly recommend you to stay on 1st and 2nd album songs so you will experience their evolution until reaching this point on 3rd album without YuiMetal and a more mature side.
