I think that isolation is also part of the reason for all of the pop culture reference. During that period he was intaking a lot of media along with writing, so some of what he was watching made it into his music. Great Reaction! This song has a very different feel, but it's Ren... at this point it's pretty much the one constant in Ren's music.

So this is 7 years old, look how skinny he is. This was before he finally got diagnosed properly and was back and forth between the bedridden times and some better days. I understand many foods made him physically sick, so his diet was limited and he was undernourished. Which was just more crap on top of the shit.
