My theory is that she’s actually the current mortal form of a race of beings responsible for creating the matter that makes up universes who reincarnate as mortals to remind themselves what that is like in order to avoid going power mad and trying to go beyond their role in the multiverse.
That’s why Pinkie is so crazy and breaks the fourth wall. To her “Pinkie Pie” is just the current name she’s called until the next time she can come to life.
