Great video of my favorite Amtrain train route, the Pacific Surfliner route and my most favorite Amtrak trains, the Pacific Surfliners. I ride the Pacific Surfliner trains between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard when I'm home in the Civilized San Diego area on visits up to a week.
1:17 must be a replacement train on the Surfliner route! 2:11 surfliner is that new?! does 457 still wear the special paint? 3:11 two superliners?! 3:43 longest surfliner I've ever seen, and with the most Superliners (repainted and standard)! 6:32 nice advertisement car! I wonder if it's still like that? nice job! some of those Surfliners can go really fast!
MrBnsftrain 1:17 is the last remaining single-level set. It runs on an as-needed basis and has been seen before with Ocean View (Amtrak's last remaining full-length dome car, built in 1951 by the Budd company.
I actually did not get to film that because it was around the same time as the final AEM-7 excursion on the east coast that I filmed. However, I have filmed at San Clemente many times over the past few years. Maybe I'll put together a video of some of those clips.
If I lived in that part of California, I'd go broken just riding that train all day. But I'm in Canada where we lost our passenger train over 30 years ago and the closest on is the VIA Ocean that runs twice a week and is about 100 miles away.
Yep, it went from Montreal to Saint John on the old CP line , then on th Moncton on the CN line then down to Halifax and back. But now the union that operates the VIA trains has set a strike date for tonight midnite. The Ocean left Halifax this morning headed for Montreal and will probably be the last train into Montreal tomorrow morning. The union's been without a contract since Dec. 31st 2015, so you can see their point.
Charles Damery traffic between Wwashington, DC & Boston is 25 times worse than Southern California, the greater Chicago area from Chicago to Milwaukee & Chicago to Springfield, IL and the Houston area are also worse.
A suggestion for tue next Galore video, maybe Narrate the video because I know ypu show afew shots for each particular locomotive maybe something similar to how Pentrex did their Extreme Steam videos...
Also most Santa fe 3751 excursion trains are cancel this year because of Amtrak's new insurance policy. Amtrak can no longer host vintage excursion trains with their new insurance policy. This is bad news for atsf 3751, sp 4449, and other vintage steam trains that have excursion trains normally hosted by Amtrak.
How about "Old Diesels Galore"? If you get time to come up north here to Santa Maria, the shortline (SMVRR) operates Two 70-tonners, an EMD-GP9, and a lease unit, BUGX 1322(Former ATSF GP7 U-boat).
I always loved the powerful multi note horns of American trains. You know a train is coming when you hear one of those. Japanese and European train horns do not have the same authority and presence.
Union Pacific has 3 steamers running now and is rebuilding the Big Boy, they all run on used crankcase oil from the diesel locomotive. Southern Pacific has their steam engine as does BNSF and there are more back East. They make great PR tools. I hope they're around forever.
I don't think so, UP is putting a ton of money into rebuilding the Big Boy. the Challenger have proven their worth when the diesel's break down and 1 challenger can haul a 143 car intermodal train back to Cheyenne by itsel when it takes 5 diesels to do the same thing. The video is from 2009 and is one RUclips, it's quite impressive.
I used to see many GG-1 electric locomotives pull many passenger & freight trains on the Pennsylvania Railroad when I lived in Ridley Park,PA just outside of Philadelphia in 1963. They were a great locomotive and 2 are at the Pennsylvania State Railraod Museum in Strasbourg, PA which the Pennsylvania State railroad museum is one of the 2 best ones in the nation, the other one is in Sacramento, CA the California State Railraod Museum.
Great video, I will always remember the F59PHI locomotives.
At 2:09, I remember that Amtrak F59PHI 457 was used to have The special scheme for the 10th anniversary of the Pacific Surfliner.
lovely catch

I love your vids. I love your channel
Very good video. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much. Glad you liked it.
I'm just getting more excited to travel on the Surfliner.
Amtrak, Southern Pacific & Coaster Productions The LA-San Luis Obispo leg has gorgeous scenery.

nice job! some of those Surfliners can go really fast!
Thank you very much! Both 457 and the Superliner coach are back in their normal paint.
CoasterFan2105 I miss 457's Be Track Smart scheme. Probably the coolest one I've seen on an F59.
MrBnsftrain 1:17 is the last remaining single-level set. It runs on an as-needed basis and has been seen before with Ocean View (Amtrak's last remaining full-length dome car, built in 1951 by the Budd company.
Thank you Fabian! Yes, the goal is to have about 96% of the line double tracked by 2035.
CoasterFan2105 wtf?! 2035??!!!
I think he means 2305.
ItsMyDank747 He's referring to the route #.
That’s a long time
That might be expensive.
Thank you for sharing!
No problem! Thanks for the comment!
And Also At 6:31, I remember that The Amtrak Superliner Coach has a National Train Day Wrap which was on May 1st 2010.
I was born on May 1st 2010
Great Catches

AMAZING!!!!
Nice video!

CoasterFan2105 No problem.
Why is there always one normal super liner car that’s second to last on the train 2:59
That was supposed to be a surfliner coach but in 2010 they removed the S. U. R. F. L. I. N. E. R And yeah it looks like the superliner coach
just amazing
cool video
Thanks!
I LIKED YOUR VIDEO
Great video.
Cool!
505 and 510 are my fav dash 8s

At 3:24, where was that train going?
I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE TRAINS!!!!!!!
Hey, did you by chance film the last few days of horn in San Clemente? SC is now a wayside horn zone and has been like that for about a month.
Awesome video, too!
Thank you!
I actually did not get to film that because it was around the same time as the final AEM-7 excursion on the east coast that I filmed. However, I have filmed at San Clemente many times over the past few years. Maybe I'll put together a video of some of those clips.
Oh, that's cool! No problem! I like all of your videos (even the ones I can't get to, I try to watch all of your latest as soon as I can) :)
*That'd be cool!

You have beautiful scenery in Canada though too. Was that train you lost the Atlantic?
Yep, it went from Montreal to Saint John on the old CP line , then on th Moncton on the CN line then down to Halifax and back. What a shame. Would be nice to see it running again. Hope they resolve the strike soon too.
They probably will once the highway between Quebec City and Toronto looks like Southern California.
Charles Damery traffic between Wwashington, DC & Boston is 25 times worse than Southern California, the greater Chicago area from Chicago to Milwaukee & Chicago to Springfield, IL and the Houston area are also worse.

I do have more narrated videos planned! Stay tuned!
I just found out the Santa fe 3751 is not coming to San Diego in 2016, they cancled the excursion... :(
Aw man. :(
Yes, sadly both 3751 excursions this fall were cancelled.
CoasterFan2105 Mechanical problems?

I like that idea, I will be sure to look into that!
CoasterFan2105 Thank you. Here's the SMVRR regards to the public: www.smvrr.com/public.html
What is the difference between the surfliner and the coaster between San Diego and Los Angeles?
I always loved the powerful multi note horns of American trains. You know a train is coming when you hear one of those. Japanese and European train horns do not have the same authority and presence.
Washington Street, CAB 6900 and ENG 463, ENG 505 and CAB 6952 during the 3751 chase

I'm so bad 😔

Why does the F59PHI look *good* when it's powering a Surfliner train?
Pxthfinder it just looks good ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Because it matches the cars
do you drive a train
Pacific Surfliner
One day with my parents
the coasterfan2105 is 1m likes mike
coaster fan if you manage to reply to this comment do you think people are stupid enough to scrap all the steam engines in the future
Union Pacific has 3 steamers running now and is rebuilding the Big Boy, they all run on used crankcase oil from the diesel locomotive. Southern Pacific has their steam engine as does BNSF and there are more back East. They make great PR tools. I hope they're around forever.
Well, I don't think they will be scrapped. I think tourist railroads and museums will continue to run steam for many years to come.
CoasterFan2105 I don't know I have a bad feeling about this because the locomotive's will get scrapped in the future
I don't think so, UP is putting a ton of money into rebuilding the Big Boy. the Challenger have proven their worth when the diesel's break down and 1 challenger can haul a 143 car intermodal train back to Cheyenne by itsel when it takes 5 diesels to do the same thing. Charles Damery this is why steam is better than diesel
go to the strasburg railroad
I'm planning on it!
CoasterFan2105 I'm heading there soon myself. Always wondered what a GG1 looked like in person.
You’re on the wrong train
Hate when they use locomotives that Dont match
No reason
because it's really sad coaster fan it's really sad because people are so evil
Dang it I already booked a flight to San Diego
It's worth the trip!
just amazing
Thanks!
