We have one of those on WSAAF.. it has a D348 V12 CAT for a blower engine, and when you have her wound up and a full head of snow it just sings. Love the old iron👍🏻
Logged a lot of hours in these in the 70's at Griffith Air Force Base, outside of Rome NY. Rugged machines, I found the steering wheels to be huge, especially compared to my small car daily driver. LOL Spend 10 to sixteen hours a day in this and drive a vehicle 1/10th the size for the ride home. Upper NY State used to get huge amounts of snow, not sure if they still do.
This is a great share again! I wish now that I would have watched it when I got the first notification on my phone. Is someone from +DailyDieselDose going to the sale, and can tell us what these end up going for? We are working on a large-ish Truck project, and now after having seen this, I am now conflicted as to whether we are on the best course! : - )
I went to the sale but left before bidding completed. I can provided you with the auction company information if you like. They might be able to tell you the ending price.
You haven't watched enough snowplowing videos if you didn't know those had Detroit. xD It's how the city people know their tax dollars are really being used.

That one with 29,000 miles still under factory warranty for 71,000 miles 😎
Steering wheel is for the rear wheels. Rear steer means you could almost turn 90 degrees. Operated them in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Ah, that makes sense now that I look at the gauge again.
The auxiliary lights are very modern on these.

The snowfall is still heavy but not as consistent and doesn't last for long once it falls.
I need this for plowing my driveway
The second steering wheel on the first on was for rear steer....
I definitely got more wrong about this truck than I got right.
and the stick on the dash of the other one was rear steer to lol
Its not a V12. Its a 6-71.
You're right. I don't know what I was thinking.
Holy smokes! That means it must have another 671 on the other side of it then!
The Olympic National Park in Washington state has a few old Oshkosh blowers and they run huge V12 Cats in them.
How much is a new one cost Compared to the ones that you push with a front end loader

The blower on first truck I think it's a sicard
6-71 not a v12
These are beast
just curious what the one that says scrap went for.
Sorry, I didn't hang around until the end.
yeah Henderson lost the contract to Viking
Correct. Completely new setup all around with trucks and gear.
IMO Viking equipment is a downgrade from Henderson
these are still for sale are they??
No, they were sold on the day I filmed this.
I want one.
we bought the 1989
Cool. They all seemed like solid machines. Staying in NY?
Very good machine! It's in CT now
I’d like to see video of one of these things working!
