My jr high music teacher had alzheimer's my sister and noticed she was at the same nursing home our grandfather was in at the time. Well my sister just loved her so much and asked is she could go in and visit. The nurses said yes my sister knelt down and quietly talked to her and she began to sing, boy what a beautiful treat that was she had a great voice.
Glenn Campbell was an outstanding guitarist, years back he was a member of the greatest session studio musicians in the business, the "Wrecking Crew", it didn't get better than them.
I find it funny that some comments here say he was 'underrated'.....Glen Campbell was never that. You know your stuff. Glen played on so many records. His last album had some very good songs. Glen 💜🎼
You left a huge responsibility behind to have the work ethic drive and love if country music and keeping it going. And you left us all those wonderful songs that I will never stop listening to or forget as a singer I learn something new every time I put on a Glenn Campbell record he and Jerry Reed were my favorites. His daughter Ashley is carrying on his legacy with her own career and style that you can see that god gifted talent that reminds us of people like her dad. She will be a big star in her own right. Because she loves music.
Three to four years is not his last days, to say that is nuts. That video was from 2014. Its not sad that he died, its sad that it took so long for him to die. No one should have to waste away like that. One of the greatest guitar players, and singers ,that ever lived.
The Beach Boys gave a concert in our town in 1965....Brian Wilson was sick,,,so the Beach Boys brought a young studio musician named Glen Campbell to fill in ......and it would not have surprised anyone to see lightning come out of his guitar....he was that good...
A beautiful voice, songs that resonate with enduring love, and love lost, " I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time...", RIP Mr. Campbell, your music will live on.
Glenn Campbell was a musical genius. I was lucky to grow up with him (his music) as a child in the 60's due to uncles who tried to copy his style. Once the Rhinestone Cowboy got in your head he was forever there. Check out his video with Steve Wariner at the Country Music Hall of Fame where he's playing behind his head, body. I don't know if yt allows videos to be posted so just google those two artists name with 'perform Galveston.' It rocks. It starts with a few country stars talking about him so don't be dismayed if the music doesn't come right on. Also, his concert with the South Dakota Orchestra plays on my desktop at least two or three times a month. smile.
Had the great pleasure of meeting Debbie and her dad, Glenn Campbell, out in New Zealand in 2007, had a nice chat for about ten minutes with Glenn, he was a big gentle man who was easy to talk to, I had my photo taken with him, and he gave me four of his used guitar plextrums, which I still have to this day. I introduced myself to him, and told him I was Ken from Wales UK. He knew Wales from his long friendship with singer Tom Jones. What a chance meeting with a true superstar, I was saddened by his illness and death. Rip Glenn Campbell and thanks for giving me some of your time, and a great memory. You top the list of celebrities I have met on my journey through life. ♥️
If there is an upside to Alzheimer's it's the fact that you don't understand that death is neigh, My late father lived with it for nearly 10 years and never once expressed any fear of dying.
My father had Alzheimer's as well. He had a saying his whole life......when something bad happened he'd say "it sure beats the alternative". After Alzheimer's he didn't say that. It was a humiliating suffering end for him. In the end, the alternative was better than Alzheimer's 😢
So grateful this was recorded. One of the greatest singers/musicians/entertainers who ever lived! Love all his songs. Love his bagpipe playing on Bonaparte’s Retreat!
I bet your Grandfather was a great man. Sorry for your family's loss. Never easy whatever the cause. I've heard Alzheimers is cruel and affects many more people than just the one who has to physically succomb to it. I hope your sadness only turns into great memories.
Glen Campbell-one of the top 5 guitar players-even taught Eddie Van Halen some tricks according to Alice Cooper. Glen Campbell will always be that Rhinestone Cowboy and will forever be Gentle on My Mind.

His guitar playing was phenomenal. R.I.P., and God bless his amazing, devoted, beautiful wife and and his, patient, loving children who knew what to do to help him maintain his truly deserved dignity and help preserve his musical legacy

I'm serious, but in 1967 I took my gf to see him at a small nightclub in New York City. That was the year right before he exploded on the music scene. We were sitting really up close. I can't describe the feeling that came over me a year later. I felt as if I actually knew him. I bought every album he put out, and watched him rise into stardom including the movies. I wish I could remember the name of that little nightclub.
As a pastor I spent much time with members in their final days and hours. One constant was the hymns they learned. They could sing them, pray them no matter how much their mind had deteriorated. Thank God for the great poets of the Church who wrote timeless treasures.
super talented singer and musician taken from all of us by that dam Alzheimer disease also known as 'The long goodbye' and it sure is sad. God bless Glenn Campell
I wish my mom could have held on to her ability to play the piano. She was a little girl when she learned, she was our church's organist for 50 years, but from her age of 82, give or take a year, she didn't even know what a piano was or what it was used for. I felt the pain of this family from the first report of Glen's Alz. and my heart grieves for them just like we did with my mom.
I hear this woman is putting out, what she HOPES will be, a double platinum album of her own. It's going to be called the "I Can't Shut The Hell Up!!!" album.
He started out as a session musician back in the late sixties early seventies. And then he had his own show and he had a string of hits. This guy was talented upon talent
I grew up on Glen Campbell. This man had the heart of a lion! To get up on stage in his condition was one of the bravest things I have ever seen. He was kicking Alzheimer's ass! I'll always love this inspiring and courageous man....
I know! I watched that special about his last tour...that was sad. You could definitely see the decline towards the end when they decided he couldn't complete the rest of the engagements. Oh boy. No , no more like Glenn.
Huge star, great person, many hits here in Australia, hopefully his tragic end will raise awareness of alzheimers disease some and the suffering everyone afflicted goes through..rest in peace

Exactly Carei. This is old footage. The same is to be said for the issue that his daughter Debbie had with his wife about the care he was getting, that was a few years ago too.
Agreed, he could not play at the very end. At end stages of Alzheimer's and Dementia, these vicious diseases take away your motor skills, your mind, even the ability to talk and swallow. It's a horrible, slow way to die. RIP Glen.
Until the very end, Alzheimer’s could not steal Glen Campbell‘s great guitar talent. May Glen rest in peace.

@@scottc5619 Agreed. Karen and Glen will go down as two of the greatest singers who ever stepped in front of a mike.
I'm from England UK I grew up listening to Rhinestone cowboy love the song what a singer and man he will b sadly missed RIP Glen.
Glen was THE greatest singer and musician the world has ever seen. He left us with his greatest songs and wonderful videos of the great man. Thank you so much Glen 🙏
Brilliant musician, brilliant singer, brilliant showman. I had the pleasure of seeing GC playing live 3 times in the 1980s/90s. One of the greatest performers ever. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks for the beautiful songs and the happy memories created in so many lives... God bless YOU Glen! 🎸 (prayers of comfort to your loved ones)...
Jo Waite Amen
Dear Glen Campbell thank you sir for a great memory with your voice and song`s always held in high regard bless your eternal soul !
A SAD LOSS I BACKED GLEN BACK IN THE DAY NICE GUY ...GREAT TALENT..RIP
A guitar genius and a wonderful singer!!! Sadly missed!!! :(
r.i p Glen Campbell ... I've loved your music since I was a child .. and always will ...
This was such a TERRIBLE AND TERRIFIC LOSS of such a Great Talent and to folks who loved his music. He will sorely be missed. Rest In Eternal Peace, Glen, and THANK YOU for your wonderful contribution of such great music and bringing a bright light to a world always in turmoil....God Speed, sir!!!!
R.I.P. dearest Glen. I was a caregiver for my beloved Mom, who also went to Heaven, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. It is so hard and sad, to watch your loved one, decline day by day, with this horrible disease. God be with, and heal
all of Glen's family members and friends. My heart, Love, and prayers, go out to you all...God Bless you. (P.S....And Debby, your book you wrote, of your Dad, and you on the road was outstanding. I loved the book, and my heart goes out to you, as you
lived through all of this, with your wonderful and talented Dad. God Bless you as well...I totally understand). Hugs...Andrea
Glen played on a lot of different people's songs.
theboot.com/glen-campbell-session-musician-songs/
I find it funny that some comments here say he was 'underrated'.....Glen Campbell was never that. You know your stuff. Glen played on so many records. His last album had some very good songs. Glen 💜🎼
@@stargazer1359 You also know your stuff, be well and stay safe.
@@larryl1427 yeh for example Frank Sinatra and the beach boys. Etc.
RIP Glenn! You inspired so many of us with your singing and playing!
Man, he could still tear that guitar up, right up till the end. RIP.
I love you Glen Campbell I met you and Iowa I shook your hand and you and you're the best oh great thou art God bless
Yes, it would be great to hear the video without interruption. It is also wonderful that he could play guitar right to the end. A true star!!
Glen was playing his favorite Ovation guitars at the end. He was one of my heroes.
The Beach Boys gave a concert in our town in 1965....Brian Wilson was sick,,,so the Beach Boys brought a young studio musician named Glen Campbell to fill in ......and it would not have surprised anyone to see lightning come out of his guitar....he was that good...
He played bass when he filled in for Brian Wilson for a few months in 1965.
He was basically a part time Beach Boy.
Played on sever albums and did some touring with them off and on over the years.
Thank you for the music 💕💕
A beautiful voice, songs that resonate with enduring love, and love lost, " I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time...", RIP Mr. Campbell, your music will live on.
Glen Campbell was my father
Favourite guitar hero
Rest in.the arms of angel
Rest easy Glen Campbell....
The guy couldn't read music but somehow played guitar on a prodigy level.
I was in tears watching the movie "Ill be me" just a great talent and brings back so many memories. Knowing I am on that same path.
Glenn was made of music. He may have lost the words, but never the melody. R.I.P.
I had the honor of seeing him on his farewell tour💗
My 7th grade music teacher was a huge Glen fan..i ended up one... we miss your sweet songs, Glen!..the internet can be a wonderful thing..
So grateful this was recorded. One of the greatest singers/musicians/entertainers who ever lived! Love all his songs. Love his bagpipe playing on Bonaparte’s Retreat!
I WILL LOVE THIS OLE COUNTRY BOY FOREVER
Had not heard that he passed! So glad he was playing his guitar til the end. This was great to see, and prayers for Glen and daughter and family.
When he played The William Tell Overture. Man!! That guy had extreme talent! Unbelievably talented.
-On a twelve string.. ;}
My grandpa died just 2 weeks ago from Alzheimer's too.
I bet your Grandfather was a great man. Sorry for your family's loss. Never easy whatever the cause. I've heard Alzheimers is cruel and affects many more people than just the one who has to physically succomb to it. I hope your sadness only turns into great memories.
Sorry to hear that Arrow.
HE DIED BUT HIS GREAT MUSIC WILL LIVE ON....TY GC
He shaped so many lives with his beauttiful soul
I miss Glen Campbell, each song from the seventies reminds me of my teen years
Glen Campbell-one of the top 5 guitar players-even taught Eddie Van Halen some tricks according to Alice Cooper. Glen Campbell will always be that Rhinestone Cowboy and will forever be Gentle on My Mind.
But unfortunately no longer " on the line".
Rip Mr Glen Campbell you were a pioneer and a hero to many not only for your music but for how you were able to keep your dignity with altheimers.
Gifted Glen. Loved him, a faithful fan through all of the hard times - I knew we were in the presence of greatness when he won the CMA, for By The Time I Get to Phoenix. His guitar playing was phenomenal. R.I.P., and God bless his amazing, devoted, beautiful wife and and his, patient, loving children who knew what to do to help him maintain his truly deserved dignity and help preserve his musical legacy
Total legend and I never realised what an amazing guitarist too. God bless you Glen.
Not to be a jerk but Im glad the title said "See Glen Campbell Play Guitar" & not "Hear Glen Campbell Play Guitar". The idiots talked over it the whole time he was playing, I would of liked to hear it
All4Him as I watched him play... his styling was not the smooth virtuoso we know and love. I suspect they talked over him on purpose to preserve our memory of Glen Cambell.
@Taylor Holloway I saw it too, in the comment. However, your hideous use of punctuation negates your criticism of the misuse of "would of."
@@amybethhurst omg
@Taylor Holloway Looks like you have a hard time with spelling, punctuation, and syntax there Taylor.
Go ahead and impart some more of that sage wisdom.
@@amybethhurst uhhhh. Shut up.
R.I.P Mr Campell
God Bless you Glen....rip.
Bye Glen, always feel happy and sad at the same time listening to your beautiful songs. RIP.
Thank you for bringing beautiful songs into the world RIP Glen u will be missed
Glen had such grate potential and I'm glad he used it
+#starbucks lover
Amen.
To think he could have stayed on drugs. We would have missed a lot of this.x
I hear this woman is putting out, what she HOPES will be, a double platinum album of her own.
It's going to be called the "I Can't Shut The Hell Up!!!" album.
He sang this old hymn called you’ll never walk alone. If you have not heard it, listen. It’s really pretty.
He started out as a session musician back in the late sixties early seventies. And then he had his own show and he had a string of hits. This guy was talented upon talent
I am so embarrassed to say this but when he died I cried all day long take it for what it's worth Because I don't care.
mike johnson you had lots of company.
+mike johnson
Glen was a special person.
I wasn't even a fan of his but for some odd reason I did.
he was worth every tear.. he was a great human being.. seeing old footage with his family .. they were close ..
Nothing to feel embarrassed about, Mike.
I grew up on Glen Campbell. This man had the heart of a lion! To get up on stage in his condition was one of the bravest things I have ever seen. He was kicking Alzheimer's ass! I'll always love this inspiring and courageous man....
Glen Campbell, nobody could do it the way you did sir. You left an amazing legacy that will live on. RIP Glen, God Bless!!!
One of the greatest voices in country music. Still have a hard time believing he’s gone.😢
I know! I watched that special about his last tour...that was sad. You could definitely see the decline towards the end when they decided he couldn't complete the rest of the engagements.
Oh boy. No , no more like Glenn.
He is now playing in heaven
If he's in heaven .
Huge star, great person, many hits here in Australia, hopefully his tragic end will raise awareness of alzheimers disease some and the suffering everyone afflicted goes through..rest in peace
Thanks for all the great music, Glen. We love you, buddy.
Glen Camble was one of,The Rare Breed..
So Talented.
He had that presentation, that just Grabbed the Audience and pulled them, into the Story, of The Song.
A Pure Legend..
His Music, Will Live, For A Very Long Time..
RIP Glen..
Thank You, for all you did..
3years ago wasn't exactly "in his last days". This makes it sound like he was playing guitar a few weeks ago. He wasn't. This footage is from 2014.
Exactly Carei. This is old footage. The same is to be said for the issue that his daughter Debbie had with his wife about the care he was getting, that was a few years ago too.
And he is still playing Guitar now in the afterlife....R.I.P Glen
Agreed, he could not play at the very end. At end stages of Alzheimer's and Dementia, these vicious diseases take away your motor skills, your mind, even the ability to talk and swallow. It's a horrible, slow way to die.
RIP Glen.
he was a great singer
Always loved Glen Campbell loved every song he ever sang he is and will always be trully missed .RIP Glen
Glen was a incredible guitar player and I love his music! Rest well.
He was one of the great's! Just an amazing man! I"m so sad :(
R.I.P The voice
Glenn was no joke. He was a true musician. A legend. Rip
R.I.P. Glenn. Thankyou for all the songs! 👍
