Pete Walker is working with Manoah in Toronto during Manoah's off-days. If Pete Walker can't fix him, then it's probably time the Blue Jays to move on from Manoah. They've given Manoah the best chance to come back, with the state-of-the-art facilities in Dunedin and one of the best pitching coaches in MLB. The rest is up to Alek Manoah.
Well, something must’ve worked. He gave up one run and had 12 strikeouts last night with his fastball in the mid 90’s and his slider inducing 13 swinging strikes. That’s the best news with him in two years. I have so much faith, I immediately picked him up for my fantasy baseball team.
Great voice. Enjoy listening to your live MLB coverage
Blame the Jays' management for not addressing their weak offense this past off season. President Mark Shapiro and GM Ross Atkins gotta go.
if this is the regression we're seeing out of vladdy already i'd be horrified to give the kid any kind of long term deal.
Baseball is so much better when the Blue Jays are good.
You gotta put timecodes/chapters on these.
we do on many of our clips. Will get this adjusted!
My thing with the front office was OK you didn't get Ohtani BUT you didn't like anyone else?!
Rumour has it that money was ONLY for Ohtani. There were 2 budgets. An ohtani budget, and a nohtani budget. When they whiffed on Ohtani, that money wasn't available.
Just saying what is the difference between Vlad's monster year and follow up seasons??? The "Jacket" the practical joking and having a all round good time on the Bench. You remember pre Schneider Idiocy
Use monoha as a closer might get 3 good innings. That might be his fit
I am a Jays fan and I certainly did not want Ohtani to come to Toronto. For Schneider to bench him one game every three? Batting after Guerrero who's never on base? With this bunch of clown? That would have been embarrassing.
You get a day of paid vacation for every homer! Schneider will be a loved manager, maybe in an usual company, just not a baseball one.
Ricky Romero 2.0 Hate to say it but thats what it looks like.
I miss him on Sunday night baseball
We missed him while he was doing basketball and sunday night baseball.
@@mekan0001 great broadcaster. Forever jealous the Jays have him.
Ohtani was never coming to Toronto, because if you play north of the border you do not exist so far as American sports media is concerned. American media didn't know who Roberto Alomar was when he was the best 2nd baseman in baseball. They don't even cover home team games when Blue Jays are visiting. One can only conclude that American media do not consider a franchise based in Canada to be a legitimate major league team. Ohtani knows his commercial value now and in the future depends on American and Japanese media coverage.
are they gonna at least extend Bo or does he want to move on?
Manoah needs the sticky stuff to be legal again
This, Manoah performance decline is basically the same timeline as sticky stuff ban. Granted everybody was using it, but some learn to live without, some can't. Also the pitch clock doesn't help as he was very much out of shape and need long rest between pitches to gather himself. Jays were lucky Manoah was still in arb, if he was in his contract year during his almost cy young season, it will be one of the worst contract in baseball.
The funny thing about this is that he’s the one that talked a bunch of shit about Cole being a fraud because he needed sticky stuff.
Baseball is such a hard sport. You have to be mentally strong every year. You have to get yourself out of slumps. One year you are doing great and playing really well. Then the next year, you will be sent to minor leagues and never make your way back. Etc .. Keston Huira, Alek Manoha , and so many others
Since MLB took over making MLB baseballs from Rawlings I think.
Why does A.J. always wear his hat on the show? I mean, he has commendable hair -- it's not like he has a Joe Pepitone-like combover.
Get rid of all the hitting coaches and just pay J.T. more to do both roles. Are they keeping Martinez just because he speaks Spanish? I’ll say it again. Vladdy hasn’t been the same since Teo , Guriel and now Espinal left. He’s just a big kid who needs his play toys around.
Manoah is a two pitch pitcher that doesn’t throw hard and has bad control. That’s who he is. Move on.
This is a huge mistake! I hope he proves all his critics wrong but I don’t think he has it in him to beat anyone anymore!
I put the bulk of the blame on Vladdy and management. he's an epic disappointment and the way they do things is embarrassing, Vladdy's issue is immaturity. he's a man child. he doesn't run to first, let alone hustle. he makes mental mistakes like it's mandatory. often in the biggest moments, like ending the season getting picked off 2nd in the playoffs while embarrassingly gesturing to Bo at the plate. down big in New York and he hits one out. shushes the crowd, slow trots and stutter steps. that made the score 9-3 late. never adjusts at the plate. our supposed big dog is who the opposition wants at the plate when it matters. that's backwards. I've been a Jays fan since the beginning and I've never disliked a player more than this guy.
How the hell can nobody see that Vladdy is pulling away from the ball when he swings, combine that with the pitchers dropping off-speed just off the plate , combine those two things and he's a swing and miss kinda guy.......and he's doing that because he's trying to hit homeruns at every at bat, if he'd just slow his ass down and give a decent swing, just barrel to ball kinda swing, basically slow down his swing and have more control thru the zone , a more contact swing his strength will get him more then enough HR's and doubles .....he needs to calm down, not swing out his shoes which makes him pull or jerk away from the ball, the game is a game of inches....
Maybe they need to hire you.
He's doing the exact same thing now as when he was successful. He just hasn't adjusted to what pitchers are trying to do him.
Hate to say it, but blue jays will be among the worse in the league, if the pitching is not so dominant. They are lucky to be around the 500 line all becoz of the elite pitching and defense
Unless he can hit, pitch, and field, he is no real help for this mess called the Toronto Blue Jays.
Alek weight gain messed up his ability to pitch well getting hit hard confidence he has to lose weight 😡
Vladdy has short arms and stands too far off the plate.
Vlad did much better when he was working with Jesse Barfield in 2021. It's a shame that the Blue Jays organization forced him to only work with Guillermo Martinez and the rest of the Blue Jays coaching staff after that season. The Blue Jays definitely need a change to their coaching staff, and would probably be better off just hiring Jesse Barfield as their hitting coach. A different perspective and someone who can draw on experience instead of blindly following analytics could do a lot of good for the team.
It's his confidence, that kid rides like a horse and has been riding it his whole life, his smile , personality, cocky whatever you wanna call it, the way I see it in my opinion, , manoah fell of the horse for the first time, he isn't the same riding it after, no confidence, it's not a stuff issue, is a location issues with that stuff, he is afraid to miss location, and dont blame him, mises his spots he get hit hard. again confidence. In my opinion with all due respect
If you take the current pitching and add it to the 2021 lineup they would be the best team in baseball. Too bad they are either all hitting or all pitching and defense and nothing in between
If you take the pitching and add it to the 2021 team, the pitching wouldn't be nearly as good, considering they were playing most of their home games in minor league parks in Dunedin and Buffalo.
