  • There was a time when Microsoft was seriously considering purchasing Nintendo, but it never came to be. There's no doubt Microsoft would still love to scoop up Nintendo, but could it really happen?

Whenever microsoft aquires a company it loses all heart and soul to the company which is most likely why nintendo never went out of their way to fully aquire gamefreak but gave them their own headquarters to work on their games

Honestly the most rational and knowedge able take on this entire situation. Most people are just arguing from the heart and I respect the fact it seems like you actually used logical thought here. The only part I kind of disagree on is the part about Phil not understanding Nintendo in relation to them saying they would be better off their own hardware & that is more because of the lack of elaboration on his end. He could of meant this due to the evolving state of cloud of instance which could be argued to be a fair stance, I would need more context on what he meant their to either think he is right or stupid

Considering that Microsoft had to go through hell to buy a 3rd party non-competitor like Activision Blizzard. They're gonna go through more hell to buy a direct competitor like Nintendo.

A hostile takeover normally requires imploring a company's shareholders, as well as a majority of the company's stockholders to approve of the takeover.

From what I heard an outside investor started buying up shares of Nintendo and the Company forced them to sell by buying them back. Nintendo is Japan's Disney. There's the price tag, Japanese red tape and the cultural footprint they have in yhe country. Switch outsold PS5 5:1 in Japan in 2021.

I want Nintendo to stay Japanese. They do weird Japan only things Microsoft can't do. Nintendo won't be the same without staying a Japanese company. Xbox main competitor is the PS5, Nintendo is a different league. The people who work there take a lot of pride in being Japanese, it'll hurt the quality if Microsoft owned it. Just make better games Microsoft, hire people from Japan.

Nintendo is still a direct competitor.

I dont think this microsoft console will do well especially due to the fact that it is digital and is more expensive than series x and is less powerful. This isnt a good selling point if the people buying the series s is due to the system being cheaper.

I feel it's much more likely now, given how poorly xbox is selling, that the future of MS lies outside their own hardware. They don't have passion or vision for making games at the top of the company.
They wanted to dominate the industry, but is failing. Cloud and gamepass isn't the savior they hoped, so what are they now doing? Buying up big studios in a last ditch effort to get to the top.
If this does not bring them near or to the top vs Sony and Nintendo within 5-10 years, they will pack it in most likely.
