I did some fiber optic work around hill city a few years back. more fuckin rock than there is dirt out there it felt like most of the time ☠️ we also rarely had more than 2, maybe 3 of us on a plow crew from start to finish 😭
They made a mistake with how they took that fiber across the drive entrance. On both sides of the drive entrance, the cable is below ground 4-5 feet(?). But going across the drive entrance, that cable is now 2-3 feet higher than on both sides. This is going to cause a dispute at some point if that drive entrance ever has to be replaced. Because that cable is no longer 4-5 feet(?) below ground level. And that drive entrance isn't ground level. Ground level is at the base of that drive entrance. The only reason I know this is going to be disputed some time down the road is because it occurred to the company I worked for before retiring.
Boring under that drive isn't the main issue. The main issue is the cable going across that drive entrance isn't below ground level across that drive entrance. That drive entrance is artificial, placed to provide access to the house and property. Ground level is under the base of that drive entrance. Just as though that drive entrance never existed. At some point in the future, there will be a dispute about the depth of that cable at that exact spot. And it will be a hum dinger of a dispute, since someone will likely have to fix a cut fiber cable.
Thanks for the comments. I kinda wondered about that, along with my friend in the first comment. I am 60 years old and have lived here for 31 years, so I don't plan on any major upgrades in that area. But, who knows what the next owners will have planned. Take Care, and thanks again for the comments. Jimbo.
@JimboSouthDakota The only reason I know for a fact it will become an issue is because of the same that happened to the telco company I retired from. That dispute was over a field entrance where the contractor buried a copper cable like they did in the video. I don't remember if the cable was cut, but the contractor had to dig down through that field entrance and bury it below ground level. Before that fiber is energized, it might be a good idea to raise that point with the engineer and contractors. Better to take care of it if the contractors are st till around, than to have them come back if they aren't local.
Good run
Yup. I am anxious for them to install the hardware!!

Thanks for the comment. You are definitely right about the rock out there. This crew was sure happy about the land in my area. Take Care! Jimbo.
they didn't bore under the approach?! I would have been pissed! Thanks for the video! 😀

Thank You very much for the insight. I greatly appreciate it. Take Care.
What company are u doing this for?
Sorry, I didn't ask. I just asked their permission to make a video for myself.
