Peak Design is donating ALL profit from selling their just released Travel Tripod around the world till April 10th, for COVID-19 relief and combatting climate change. Check them out: bit.ly/PDTripod
1.Only get tripods with detachable plates, get extra plates and put them on all cameras. Don't want to be attaching plates on location. Corollary: Don't get tripods with undetachable tripod screw. 2. Use gravity to extend/retract all three legs. Open the locking mechanism, and let all three legs drop at the same time (either direction), which saves time. Also help make sure even extension for all three legs. 3. Bring a wiping cloth or bottle of clean/distilled water. Clean the legs after the session before putting the tripod back in the bag or car, or carrying it. No more poop in the bag/car/clothes.
Another tip is if you are setting up for recording a stage in a ballroom, auditorium, etc. and it’s going to be dark once the performance starts, get some of those cheap long slender glow sticks from the dollar store (the kind that can be looped to make a necklace) and tape them to the tripod legs. That way the legs are visible in the dark to prevent people walking by (or you) from tripping over them.
I love the tip about tripod extension sequencing at 5:00! I definitely find it to be something to be thoughtful about in terms of which leg switch to flip.
I am based in San Francisco and the tripod does feel amazing. It's light and compact, but it's also crazy expensive 600$ + sales tax for us in the US, Almost double that of my Manfrotto CF Befrees.
I just subscribed but I am Loving this guy's content! I love how he is 100% honest and gives you good advice that others just won't share. Thank you so much for this. I am going to start watching from the first video to the most present video. Watching from Los Angeles California, USA.
I just found your channel and I love watching your videos, think you’re funny in a lot of your videos. I live in Hong Kong too now, might see you around 👌
Ball heads are not ideal for video shooting, you’d want a tripod head you can at least lock the tilt or panning individually, better if it is one made for video shooting. But, there’s one trick you can do with this: the ball head on this tripod makes a pretty good quick leveling you’ll find on a lot of video tripod, if you add a video fluid head on top of this ball head. I’m going to demonstrate in a coming video!
@@TheLokCheung Great Idea Lok!! Thanks answering, : I work at a camera rental company but we don't own any peak design tripods so I became curious. looking forward to your coming video :) wish you all the best.
I still don't like the metal buckle thing where you clip the round plastic "anchor" in, I think they are still too big and heavy that keep hitting the camera and make a noise. Yea I'm picky. It just bothers me.
Cause both were paid by Peak Design to promote their just available to purchase tripod. Note that we’ve mentioned it in our videos, we don’t lie about these things~

Nice one!!!!

Problem with that is the beefier legs are not the ones used and the stability is not as good as when you use the larger section.

omg, the cat has its own bed, that is the cute-est thing i saw on internet today
2:20 If only that dad in the background had a tripod.
A video for us mere mortals about tripods from 'Lok the human tripod', the only known person who doesn't need either a tripod or lens / ibis.
Just for the people who do not understand about product releases.
Lok: 7:50 Advert
Kai: 10:08 Advert
4:15 I 100% agree 🧻👍🏻
Even the emoji agrees.
Excellent tips. I didn’t really think of doing b roll in all directions just to make sure you have options later.

sensible,systematic and often overlooked.
When you and Kai upload videos on the same topic...at the same time.....love it!!!
Don’t know whether you’ve done a video on this, but I would like to see tips and tricks for shooting B-roll.
Great video Lok. Super helpful stuff
3:22 Kitty!
just that little tip of putting you bag in front of the tripod leg is something you just dont think about. Money saver :)
It's a very good and informative video. Love it. Thanks Lok!
Thank you Lok! I have to admit. This was a very helpful video.
Lok and Kai both uploading tripod videos 🤔 is there a secret competition going on?
Good video. May I know which part of HK was this filmed in?

I just found your channel and I love watching your videos, think you’re funny in a lot of your videos. I live in Hong Kong too now, might see you around 👌
Thanks for the vide.😁👍
Hi, how is this tripod for video? Panning and tilting I mean... would you recommend it?

Grear tips, but 560 bucks, are they crazy? 😂
It is a really useful tips, indeed
why not use peak design strap?

- How to use a tripod?
- Like a BOSS!
make a video about bat soup, will be more intresting
Stability... remove the carry srap. You can see that thing swinging while you talk stability.
+1 for mask advocacy.
Einpod, zweipod, tripod
Продота делает штативы, вот это поворот!
It seems the video is a week late...
but i understand that they asked to time it that way.
Why are you and Kai doing the same video at the same time
Cause both were paid by Peak Design to promote their just available to purchase tripod. Note that we’ve mentioned it in our videos, we don’t lie about these things~
@@TheLokCheung not criticizing I just found it interesting - I thought maybe it coincided with the launch.
jerseyviewerguy No problem!
pd tripod $600 - manfrotto $99
Comparing carbon fibre to carbon fibre: the Manfrotto Befree Carbon is $300. Still cheaper though.
Great video, but the worst background music ever.
i got my tripod for $35 tho it was a used one from the 70s I think! very heavy but extremely sturdy! it can take my full weight (I've tested)
This tripod is $350!
No, Lok has the carbon fiber version that is $600.
$960 AUD
CLSSSSSS
Better video than the Kai's recent one.
Why are your videos always more funny than Kai’s? Get him to step up his game 😂
Next video" how to remove a Len's cap"
FIRST!!!
that mask is useless outside
stay inside ffs
