    Can we use borosilicate glass? For a better results

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  11 месяцев назад

      yes sure! But it is not only the glass. Its mainly the method. Here in what I had made, the pressure from the gas of the butane torch was making air bubbles trapped in the glass bead. That's why I had to make so many of them and pick one that worked for me.

    Why is that brace adjuster option better than the threaded one? It looks way more fidgety

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  5 лет назад

      That's because we can adjust it to an approximate hight. Then we can slide it till we get fine focus. It better cause we don't need to thread it all the way!

    PRINCE RUPERTS drops tend to explode when their tails are snapped pretty dangerous

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  5 лет назад +4

      That effect is because the molten glass bead is immersed in water. The temperature of the molten glass drop too fast resulting in contraction and residual pressure trapped in the bead. We are not doing any of that. The glass bead cools naturally and hence no need to worry

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  2 года назад

      Project involves fire and glass...please content with parents. With that said, first, you need to make the glass bead. Then use a laser pointer lens or the lens from an old CD reader to magify the first image. Then use a lens from a vr head. to manify the image further so that you can see it clearly. Place two skewers and use cardboard slides with holes for skewers and a hole in the center to hold the lens. By raising the cardboard up or down you can measure the correct distance with proper focus. Repeat the process for other lens as well . Now you can use rolled paper tubes or pvc pipe and fit all the lenses

    just a give a rough diagram of the project , the arrangement is not so clear

    • @VIDEOEPPO
      @VIDEOEPPO  4 года назад +1

      I checked a few fountain pens but the ball inside is metal, But if you say we have glass beads, then you can use it. It must be clear like glass or the image will not be clear.Plus, a diagram for this project wouldn't help you. I just worked with whatever I could find. The concept is only that matters. A glass bead can help you see microscopic. But its quite difficult to hold and focus. So I took another lens to magnify the image. Made a stand and put a light to see, that's it.
      Thanks a lot for stopping buy and for the comments. I made a video on foldscope (paper microscope). It is in Tamil. See if that helps.
