Hey Josh, super nice review lol. Regarding your question about how an airline can pop up like this and have 60 planes so quickly…it’s mainly because it’s not really a new airline at all. What do I mean? Well, it’s part of Indonesia’s Lion Group which also owns Lion Air, Batik, Wings, and Malindo. Therefore it shares maintenance, ground handling, ground operations, etc with the main group and essentially only differs in the aircraft livery, in-flight experience and flight attendants. So it’s a new subsidiary within an old airline. This is also why it shares some of the groups super problems: delays, unmotivated staff, cleanliness issues etc.
And old planes not new 😂
I think Super Air Jet officialy reject that they part of lion air. It is finance by lion air founder, its CEO alsi ex General Manager of service on Lion air group, but officially they keep stand as separate entity. Its entertainment also use same product that is use by Lion Air Group (Lion Air, Batik and Malindo)
@@Aqua8600huh I thought super air jet was from lion air group
The fact that they not bother to remove the woefully outdated TOTAL restriction of mobile phones usage (which nobody heeded anyway, lol) warning stickers on the back of their seats really screams Lion Group to me.
@@ahmedayaat2727are you kidding me? They are in the same group. You can perfectly identify fron their recruitment, training, maintenance, ground staff and even their ticketing office are just identically same with their fellow lion group member. Dont be naive😅
Unfortunately you can not compare the Asian aviation market's to Europe as they both function on a complete different philosophy. In Europe, most major airports are unable to provide an airline with such a growth (of having 60 aircraft within 2 years) due to slot capacity, environmental restrictions and lack of staff. The geography of Asia & Europe is also completely different as Europe has a huge train network and facing competition with them on shorter distances, while in Asia this is limited or may take up to so many hours that it's simply not worth considering. Also Aviation is often the only way to find a way to get to your destination with Indonesia being a very good example as it consists out of hundreds of islands.
Not necessarily, in the uk it’s the same thing most of the time air lines likeEasy jet and Tui always have similar issues. They just cancel and long delay the flight at the last minute without any explanation. So for me it’s not a new thing..
@@nadimdhurowa7672 But I wasn't talking about the delays you are referring to. I was merely answering his question why in Europe an airline can't grow as fast as SAI did in Asia ;)
@@burningfuel8836 ok sorry If I missed understood you.
When speaking about Super Airjet or its affiliates Lion Air, Wings Air (Which they hardly denied of having any relationship at all) etc, that's not necessarily the norm. Its just somewhere in their SOP to be this slow and delay-full. You can compare them with Citylink, another LCC which has an almost punctual schedule and fast checkin time
@@nadimdhurowa7672 Yeah the way the UK runs things, it's just practical to take Eurostar or the ferry out to Belgium or The Netherlands. I speak the language so I can make my way from there.
If i remember, Super Air Jet is also part of Lion Air too… and unfortunately being a full LCC, you will get Lion Air treatment here. In fact as i was considering which airline to get onboard with for my trip from Palembang to Jakarta, then Denpasar, i never grab LCC unless they are well organized (Citilink is the best LCC afaik, thanks to Garuda). I will take Pelita Air for PLM to CGK, Garuda from CGK to DPS, and Batik Air (bussiness class, got a price cut from a travel fair) from DPS to CGK.
The bad ones based their history + my experience are from Sriwijaya Air Group airlines (Both Sriwijaya Air and NAM Air), Lion Air and Super Air Jet (btoh are from Lion Group, but thank God their Batik Air is pretty good)
Also fun fact, there is a few incidents where a few Super Air Jet A320s have issues with the air conditioning, it was on national news here a while ago XD
Thats why i dont take it (worried about maintenance issue)
My wife and I are going the other way, Jakarta-Bali-Dili on our 14 flights 11 airlines 8 contries roundtrip from Oslo to Southe East Asia in January. Superjet was one of the options, and i think the cheapest, on the Jakarta-Bali leg. However i choose Batik Air from Jakarta. After al i have heard about Indonesian Airlines, I prefere to pay a littele bit extra. We also get to test another airport (HAL). On the Bali-Dili-leg we are flying Citylink (we use Jetstar Asia on the SIN-Jakarta leg and Scoot Bali-SIN)
Thank you Josh for proofing I have chosen the right airline.
Josh enjoyable review , Super Air Jet seemed a pretty miserable experience from start to finish . As an av geek I too would have liked the walk on the ramp I would have probably wondered off to obtain a few aircraft reg’s . Looking forward to your SQ flight .😃
Because in Europe, there are many options to go from point A to B. Competition is broad. While in Indonesia, airplanes are convinient way to travel.
Hey Josh, I really like your videos and your honesty. But I always wonder how it is like to live in Sri Lanka. I would love to see a video about that. Keep up the good work!
Always love seeing people reviewing these obscure airlines that nearly no one has heard of
Half of Indonesia knows it but others countries don't know it yet
well it's the new airlines from lion air group... when you heard the name of it, it's better to expect nothing...
U always do bad review for many airlines I don’t knw why u always have a bad experience flying ?come on bro there just budget airlines what u expect lol
The vaccine required covid 19 but why the point Singapore airline no shuttle why
Its not an obscure airline in Indonesia it has one of the most schedules
as Indonesian, i prefer not fly at all if a destination only flown by super air jet. I've heard so many bad experiences and it was on the national tv news.
I got in a super air jet 10+ times, and its a good experience!
What an awful experience. Thank you for taking one for the team. 😀
Fun drinking 🥃 game! Take a shot whenever Josh says “Super.” Follow it up with the right episode of South Park and you and your mates will be under the table in no time…way faster than this trip from check-in to boarding, sitting on the tarmac, flight 🛫, landing, all the way to the final gate 🤔 It was super long for such a short flight ✈️
I flew on Super Air Jet from Bali to Jakarta last month. 4 hour delay, no updates from airline staff, and other than the pilots landing the aircraft like they were racing a rally car, was uneventful. But I probably won't fly them again haha
Good morning from South Carolina, USA. OMG on your flight! I think that airlines grow quickly in Asia is due to population. If customers do not demand more from them they will be gone in a year. I am sure that some executive in the company knows who you are and how many followers you have. Hopefully they will take notice of the many things that need attention. If they are lacking on attention to the cabin....what about the maintenance on the engines? Safe flight home and hope to see your next video soon.
I work in the industry… it’s not a short answer, but to give the short… to a degree, it’s difficult to compare the Asian market with the European market, different transit patterns, populations etc. Europe is dominated by monopolies such as Ryanair and EasyJet, so there is little room for expansion of a start up. It is worth a note that there is some comparables, for example Whizz Air has had massive expansion within Europe and the Middle East over the last 12-24 months, this is a similar post pandemic effect to the likes of super jet.
I mean, it's part of Lion Group. They even forgot to turn on the AC on a 2-hour flight last year.
Answering your question, there are way more regulatory barriers for entry in Europe when compared to most Asian markets
How come we haven’t received any notification on new reviews?
It's just a spin off from Lion Air, maybe a way for them to transfer their brand from one crash laden one to another new one (until they start falling out of the sky).
Looks like josh Super enjoyed using the word Super to describe the Super Services of Super Air Jet
😂
That’s the best introduction to a video ever! The airline is a super piece of 💩 😂
Super air jet is a subsidiary of Lion Air, one of the biggest Indonesian LCC. Of course quality comes last, but pretty cheap fare
Lion air delayed me from 10 am flight to 6pm in denpasar airport, so nothing can be worst than lion air !! These airlines are like bus companies that help create jobs with the lowest pay stewardess possible and only matter of time before this company collapse due to crashes caused by poor maintenance and lack of pilots training.
Hi Josh, please try to fly with Pelita Air. We need your honest review about that new comers airlines. Thankyou😊
lol, agree … as Indonesian we know check in with Superjet is hellish experience 😂😂😂. The queue was beyond crazy…😅
It’s possible that the United States, Canada, European countries, and Australia might have stricter regulations before a new airline can be created.
I also don’t know the exact reason. Maybe it may be easier for market entry in certain countries, so Airlines will do whatever is easiest for them. Who knows?
risky bro, 7 years in Jakarta and I only fly Garuda, not the best but better than the rest. Good luck on your travels around Indo.
A great example of an ultra-low cost airline in Europe is Wizz-Air. They are based in Hungary and are doing a really good job. As of now they have over 165+ airplaines and are still expanding.
You need to be careful as a start-up airline being bold enough to brand yourself 'Super' at anything :-) Hope your review shakes this organization up big-time Josh...
Omg 🫣🫣 you can try Pelita Air next time. They are very good! 😊
I would not say I am an expert, Josh. But I am a good learner. so, here is what I can share.
Like you, I am a flyer. but I'm exclusive for the moment to Europe and Asia and anywhere in between.
From an experience in Europe, I am seeing the trend of the travelers and also enforced by European community, to use ground transports more than air mode of transports. TRAINs in particular.
I don't think any new airlines would emerge as much as before, since eco-friendly way of traveling is taking over European lifestyle. UNLESS, you are traveling a long way (Example: Paris to Warsaw. or from an EU city to non-EU or outside Europe.)
In short, Josh.... I don't think we will see much new airlines in Europe.
Personal POV- I prefer nigh train and night bus. especially if there are reclinable seats. saving on hotel expense too!
Great review, they have plenty of work ahead of them.
2:03 Airbus A330 - 941NEO Garuda Indonesia 🇮🇩 PK - GHE 3 years later , "Blue Phoenix " painting's gone mid 2020
Fyi, for certain domestic route in Indonesia. We don't have any option carrier. Most of route in Indonesia operated ny Lion Air Group (Lion Air, Batik Air and Super Air Jet). I thinl because no opt, we are just inhale exhale. Garuda Indonesia and Citilink doesn't have much opt to serve certain domestic route and preferable time
For me flying Super Airjet in January 2022 (nothing was good other than USD 45 for DPS-CGK) is the second worst experience after flying Ryan Air (could not do physical check in and was forced to purchase 6x original airfare of EUR 30 for BCN-IBZ for my late online check in) in December prior to Covid-19 outbreak.
On my personal experience, Super Air Jet was very nice. The cabin crew I found were just the most motivated people I've seen and are nice and friendly. The plane was also very clean and comfy and all the flights I were on was just me freezing to death... seriously the plane is just so cold. But for the wi-fi, it does not work other than one flight I did from Jakarta to Palembang, the wi-fi weren't even there.
PK-SJL,i was been a part of this aircraft conversion From indigo Ex VT-IEM to superair jet
Nice Review Josh, Have You tried the other two new airlines in Indonesia? Transnusa and Pelita Air?
Interesting to know how they fill a pilot roster for a 60+ plane fleet with a large experienced pilot shortage….
That so true, most of the flight attendant there so lack of empathy and bad hospitality, it is more likely they're hired because have a "good looking" crew but insufficient training specially how to treat customer.
This airline is seem to be "forced" to operate without enough preparation, no concept, no identity ( they have one on first launch but not now) they are more likely to be the same as their mother company lionair by the time
Yes, good looking and tall...
3:57 cellphone addict in a nutshell
Just to let you know Josh, This airline was formed by the owner of the Lion Air Group, Rusdi Kirana. Rusdi has received an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) or commercial airline operation permit and is ready to fly for the first time in 2021. Quoted from the company's website, Super Air Jet's main focus is offering a low cost carrier concept with direct point-to-point intercity flights in the domestic market and the company hopes to later expand to international routes. So i think this is normal in terms of service and aircraft maintenance, because you can read testimonials from Lion Air customers themselves. 🤷♂🤷♂
Basically SAJ is part of Lion group. Batik Air is the only one of Lion airlines that you can "rely on". Try Citilink or AirAsia, they give more for relatively less
Tersinggung mulu
Mending kaya sih daripada ramah
Bedakan arti menghina & mengkritik...
Jelas2 dia mengkritik terkait prosedur check in yg lama, kabin yg kotor, kabin kru yg sibuk dgn hp ketika penumpang sedang boarding...
Jika ga ngerti mending observasi dahulu sblm buka mulut supaya anda tdk tampak sdg melawak...
I was on those flight few months ago from Jakarta to Bali. My flight was scheduled to leave 12:45am, when I got in the airport, member of staff didint even know which gate the flight was supposed to leave, after we knew the gate, it was changing every minute. So we only departed at 4:45 didint receive any support or any information, one more thing , on scream it appeared the flight departed on time, on boarding, basically anyone could get in the plane, even if wasn’t their flights. This was a mess and corrupt airline. Super air jet is part of lion air group, from a Malaysia general, that why no one investigate.
Jakarter?
Lion air group (Lion air, wings air, malindo, super air jet) those can be compared as ryan air in low cost and low quality service, but except for batik air also under lion air group this is high cost and premium service. Unfortunately this airline group have bad qulaity service dan bad management such as multiple delay in one flight, reject assurance for lost or damaged luggage, and many more. Even though the airline gets a lot of bad reviews, it stil for the choice for domestic traveler cuz low cost stil affordable
They have super cute cabin crew uniforms and super addictive RUclips dance videos though.
Geeez, if the aircraft was that broken and dirty, what is the maintenance like???
Two hours to get through check-in... How early do you have to arrive at the airport, 4 hours??
Josh I’ve been cracking up while watching this with the amount you have used the word ‘super’ 😂 Reminds me of those old Airline UK episodes, EasyJet, no so easy 😅
2:32 my country flight 'Malaysia Airlines' 😊❤
Super Air Jet is under the Lion Air Group so most of the plane is from Lion Air itself, there is even times where passengers are transferred to a plane with Lion Air livery instead of the Super Air Jet
Imho this is just Lion Air (since this is part of JT Group) trying to rebadge itself, and bypassing any regulations to quickly grab as much slots as possible. For all their chiq image in their initial launch, it basically is just Lion Air in a lighter beige shade.
Somehow the best way to put it is to like what GM did with cars in the US; GM to have a lot of same models spread over a lot of its brands (GMC, Chevy, etc). But its still the same carp underneath all this facade.
Tbh i’d rather drive or take a train than to fly this airline. Its a disgrace, but in a cut-throat, price sensitive market, unfortunately thats all that matters. So this is what you get.
(As to why they dont sell inflight stuff, imho its because those who fly just wants to get from A to B and sleep in between. But dont give them ideas, tho, it’ll mess their logistics and makes the delays even worse😂)
The most vibrant place in Europe for new airlines popping up is actually Iceland. There is always some new airline popping up in this little island nation. Also, always a new airline going bust. But that is what happens when you have a lot of new start ups. But the Icelanders are surely not sitting on their arse. They are up flying 🙂.
How horrible a flight this was…. Gross all round. Thank goodness you are flying Singapore airlines tomorrow!
Next time try the oil company Pertaminas airline called TransNusa it could be even worse ?
Citilink is the best for me
I like the video very much Josh keep up the good work
well the chance that I will fly with Super Air Jet is now much higher because I literally never heard before of them.
I just looked at super air jet’s website and it gives you the options of English or Indonesian. I changed to English and it was still in Indonesian !
When I flew Ukraine Airlines from Vienna to Odessa, Ukraine in 2002, I could tell it was from the at least the 1980s.
This video was super useful!
Hahaha, enjoy one of the avoided airlines in Indonesia. Super Air Jet is one of the product of Lion Group besides Lion Air and Batik Air. One of the aviation problems in Indonesia is delays, which are usually contributed by delays on previous flights. This usually happens because of poor ground handling coordination, starting from the checkin process, baggage service, staff limitations and others. Usually we avoid Lion Group products, because their record is always the worst. We are forced to use them if indeed at a destination, there is no or no service from another airline. Anyway, thanks for the honest review. Enjoy traveling with one of the worst airlines in Indonesia, and see you again in other reviews.
I just flew from Hatchie, Thailand then to Phuket hi
Would make me worry about the maintenance?
Once you're on the plane, looks like the best to me.
Super Iar Jet is under Lion Air Group, including Batik Air. They always delay without any notification before.
Based on my experience also the same with Lion Group...always delay ...even they ever cancelled my flight without confirmation and change my flight. But they always ignored our complain. Indonesian government behind them😅
Hi Josh, she might have been doing something on the phone related to her job mate when you boarded.
it's Lion Group, that is what they do, and Super Jet is their lowest tier.
Prolly except Batik.
My flight got delayed for 12 hours in denpasar
I'm Indonesian and I totally agree with this review! 😬
we just did a Cebu, Tokyo, Hiroshima, trip so can imagine how tired you are and i am 75 think of me lol, but loved japan well worth the effort, strange how different planes with same airlines can be so different, emirates was good one way the other just the opposite, and air Asia not great either way food or staff yet you found them fine, but at least they fly direct from Cebu to Tokyo, un like the rest that go via manila and take double the time.
At least you had a SUPER NAP
Hi josh... when will you come again to east timor??
Super jet, lion air, malindo is same entities.. Late Is Our Nature is their nick nqme
What is the name of hotel you are staying near the airport Josh if i may know?
Super Air Jet is awful. Yes. But it cost less than a food in some mid level resto. Imagine you live in rural area have limited income and need to go across country. What choice do you have? SAJ & Lion. Fly Citilink if you want more decent experience.
Have you tried Philippine Airlines business class?
Indonesia has a large passenger airline market and no wonder in 2 years Super Jet already has 65 fleets
Of course the problem happens all the time in LCC airline.
What you pay is what you get...
Nobody's perfect...
If I had a dollar for every time you said Super✅💸
Thanks fantastic Josh
As an Indonesian, I never have flown with this Airlines, since you might probably wanna know that Super Air Jet is a group of Lion Air as you mentioned where this airlines is coming from.
As Indonesian myself, I would never risk flying with indonesian LCC flight because of whatever delays, lost/stolen baggage or worse case scenario actual accident that could happen, the risk and stress/anxiety isnt worth it. I would rather pay a bit more for peace of mind, like citilink or garuda airlines. I dont even trust Batik Air anymore since I've found out its the same group by Lion Air.
My guess on why more pop up in Asia over Europe is regulations.
What happened to the Myanmar airline review and what was the answer of Qatar Airways regarding a past review?
Bro i also go a foot massage at CNX before my flight to to KUL
Would love to see you back in North America soon 😎✈️
Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but it's most likely a lot easier to launder money through for example an airline in Indonesia than in EU or the US. Besides that, there are a lot of less/lack of regulations in regards to everything compared to EU and the US making it both easier and cheaper to operate.
True, this super jet need to reform soon
so basically lion air's ceo looks at indigo that going to retire a huge amount of a320 and want it, but it will be annoying since lion air operate 737 so he just made a new airline called super air jet. so yeah its lion but airbus
Hi Josh, hope your fine, haven't seen any videos in 2 weeks. Well wishes 😊
It's literally a lion air but with a320
Hi Josh, thanks for your nice sharing, it's truly a speechless airline lol
you should try pelita airlines
Josh, I'm so sorry you flew on the airline ( I don't care flight. ) If a plane sits on the tarmac for 2 hours, it should be very clean.
Lion group wants to separates Boeing and airbus to reduce maintainance cost and to mitigates risks eg: debt so they invented super air jet.
Don't too much complaint using the low cost carrier/cheap flight.... Thank God that you could landed safely to your destination.. 😂😂
i'm indonesian and i never heard of this airline
The founder of Super Air Jet is the same founder as Lion Group Airlines (Lion Air, Batik Air, Wings Air, Malindo Air) even though it's not part of the group (yet). And if you are suffering these problems on Super Air Jet, that's because... Yeah, you could conclude it :D ... Also the founder of Lion Group Airlines mentioned in the interview "Maskapai saya memang yang paling buruk, tapi anda tidak punya pilihan". You can translate it and I'm sure you will be surprised xD
