This was recommended to me and I loved this, it was really beautiful and as a death note fan i'm surprised more people haven't seen it. I'm a writer and going into the philosophy of the themes of my stories is something i struggle with, but this kind of inspires me to think a bit more on it.

Nicely explained. That I feel is the actual point of this story. People give opinions about who was more just among Light,L, Near, Mello etc. Actually, each and every character in this anime is FLAWED. Light wanted to brutally murder criminals in order to ensure "justice"...he thought himself to be God and also killed the innocents who came on his way. Being a detective, L and Near's main job was to bring peace to this world and save human lives. Did they do so? So many humans died in the Kira case and after Light's death, murders yet again increased by a considerable margin. Nothing changed. Nothing became better. Everyone lost.
