this song is really underrated.. actually only those where it does have a strong lyrics got ignored by many people. it happened to all song in the world.
That whole thing about scars that never fade …… Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Touches my heart every time I hear this song, I stop and try to even imagine what that did to Japan. As much as Canadians have been on the frontlines for many many conflicts, our land has no physical scars. We don’t know what a bombed landscape looks or feels like. Yes, we lived with rationing during the too many years WW2 raged. We lost men, fathers brothers husbands sons, many who are buried in Europe. But we never ever had to face entire neighbourhoods being bombed off the planet. I had neighbors some years ago from Afghanistan. One day, one of their little ones fell off her bike and cut her knee quite badly. No one from their house came running out, so, I gathered her up to take her home and was a little snippy when I asked why no one came running. Her mother looked at me and said “did a bomb fall? Any automatic machine gun fire?”. I, embarrassingly, responded “no”. She said “a cut on the knee that will need a stitch or two isn’t war”. I was embarrassed and humbled. And none of that compared to having nuclear bombs dropped on 2 large cities.
Good band. Strong words...they delivered it very well... I m lucky in our enviremont..little city....we still care of eachother in the street.... Its also depending on your own attitude.. If you are openminded.. And have some compassion.. Your surrounding follows.....
