2 Weeks out!? Damn what a journey its been for you so far. Super excited to see how you do, although you've already won with all the hard work you've put in.
ALSO omg ironman tips!!! Swim, be prepared to get hit/dunked, be mentally prepared for this to happen so you are not as shocked if it does. If you get overwhelmed, swim a few breast strokes to control breathing - breathing control = key as without it you cant get back into a calm rythm! For the bike, yes its "long" but enjoy it!!! Split it up into chunks to avoid being overwhelmed. First 60km, then next is 120, 180... for example!! Or split it up into getting to a certain aid station or landmark! But also stay in the moment and dont hyperfixate on power or pace! That will only cause you to stress and that will NOT help when things get hard - because honestly it does at one point or another in the race!! For transitions, take your time, don't rush, and check you have everything for the next leg!! Swap socks in T2 after the bike, so pack a pair in your T2 Run bag!! Especially if they are wet (Sweat, of if you peed yourself on the bike, lol tmi but its true!!) Then...start the run slower than you think, develop into it! Its "only a marathon to go", this message you might now think wth that is still a crazy logn way but during the race I tell you that will be the "easiest" part and you know you have got this in the bag. ENJOY YOUR RACE! You've worked so hard and you deserve to have the best day ever ❤❤❤
Okay this is actually ELITE advice !!! Thank you so much I have mentally noted all of this 😂 I love the idea of breaking up the bike kms haha, that’s a good one!!! Appreciate you!! 🥹🫶🏼⚡️
Hey! I’ve been following your journey. Enjoy where you’re at right now, this is the fun part, dial in because race day is the celebration!!! I did my first Ironman 3 weeks ago and I want to go back and experience it again. It’s the journey that got you there, you put in the work and the results will follow! Congrats!!
Hey Jaz, just had to write this because following you develop on this journey has been so special x you should truly be so proud because the training = the tough part and the most developing, testing and rewarding! The race is just the cherry on top! Trust me when I say this, ironman training and the "special" day will change your lfie which you probably can already realise ! Its so so special, cherish the race and look back and just be so proud of yourself 💗
Hey Jaz, this tips they give me before my first and only (for now maybe in 2026...) IM 140.6 in 2022. - Enjoy the moment/vibe of the event/race and be yourself you race yourself not another competitor , you have 140 times a reason to quit but the 0.6 you know why you did everything (raceday and all the training) - Embrace the magic red carpet > high five, wave etc and a big smile to finish it will be magical !!!!! My experience: If there are people / kids with an sign during the run > tab for power-up or something like that do it, it will make there day and and give you a happy feeling inside even if your legs/feet are heavy of the long day. Maybe already solved but carbon wheels need other brake pads than alu wheels > you will damage the carbon rim.
Thank you so much for this!! I read this a few days before race day and I really appreciated it!! Safe to say I was present, enjoyed the vibe and utilised the crowd 🥹 thank you!
I totally understand how going home from Nepal can crush you. I flew Nepal to Canada, napped two hours on my couch, and then competed in a powerlifting competition for work. 😑 One of the worst decisions of my life. 😅 Can't believe you're already at the end of the journey!
