Lightweight Horse Pulling State Finals - Saline, MI 2010

Compilation of video clips taken at the Michigan Dynamometer Association's 2010 Lightweight Horse Pulling State Finals, held at the Saline Community Fair. The enthusiasm of the horses (though it sometimes caused some problems) was quite evident. The winning pull was the second to last clip, the full pull at 3600 pounds.

These horses love to work. They are trained for this it's the same with racehorses they get totally pumped and ready to go

This brings up so many questions. Is this a popular activity? Are these horses actually doing work outside these events or is there whole life just about these pulling contests? Does it take alot to train these horses for this sport, like training an olympic weight lifter? What is the heaviest (Record) a horse team has pulled?

cuz they're anxious to get to pulling. When any horse loves what they do they're bound to have a little more pep in their step.

Their heads are stuck with check reins. How do they expect those horses to pull. Give those horses the room to pull, free the heads.

These guys only have one gear, forward hard and fast. Wouldn't work on real farm situations.
