My wife passed away August 20, 2018, at the age of 50. She asked me to play Amazing Grace during her chapel service. I chose this version. I play it almost daily to remind me of her, her kindness, and generosity.

Addiction is cued by wounds that you feel with something, whether it be depression, low self esteem or loneliness, what is important is what you choose to alleviate these things, God can you fill your heart with peace that frees you that doesn’t mean you won’t struggle and when you do don’t be down on yourself, but ask God to fill the parts of you that are hurting and causing this, if you just feel bad and try again you will fall but if you don’t let yourself get down and trust in God to heal you you can be free form that world

We played this song at my dad's funeral on March 11th, 2023. He accepted Christ at 89, I was able to lead him to the Lord this past summer. My father was a Korean War Hero, who received a Bronze Star for acts of bravery, courage and valor. All this pails in comparison to the gift of eternal life. I hope other hearts were touched, seeds sown and that eternity will welcome other souls because of the gospel message preached, this song and offering the free gift of salvation at his celebration of life.

My dad just passed away on May 5th 2022...I proclaimed the gospel to him on October 8th 2020 in my kitchen and he put his faith in Christ as savior and Lord that day. His funeral is in a few days and I was contemplating singing a song since I haven't sung in public in many years. Then I came upon this video and I feel that the Lord really is laying it on my heart to sing this for his funeral. To hopefully draw to the Lord those in attendance who have yet to know the Lord Jesus Christ as savior...🙏🏻

I'm a funeral director in the UK, a family who I was privileged to serve in their darkest hour requested this track to accompany a beautiful slideshow of their dear father which portrayed his whole life. It was very moving showing his whole life from growing up, getting married and loving his family and friends, I must admit I shed a tear or twenty, I'm eternally grateful to have been part of his family's life even only for a few weeks. That I am still alive today is because of the Amazing Grace of God. I reflected on my life and found that God has kept me through thick and thin, in difficult terrains, in difficult times and I just cannot explain why HE has chosen to love me in the way that he does. I am so so thankful - What an Amazing Grace.
I'm going to sing this song at my Papa's service Tomorrow. He died of Pulmonary Fibrosis and he was in the Navy. He died of natural causes but we had such a close bond but his chains are gone of sickness so that is all I could ask for. Thank you for your life Papa. I love you.

I had this song played at my fathers funeral. My dad never went to church since I was a kid. He almost died about 1 to 2 years after having chemo a diagnosed with Myelodisplastic syndrome. After, he started going to church with me. I took care of him for the last year. Thank You Chris for this song.
This song was played at my mamaws funeral by someone else but i could hear Chris Tomlin singing it in my heart. She had cancer and was taken to Heaven less than 2 months since we realized she had cancer. I still miss her to this day and i miss everyone else who was in my family and died.

Dear Chris, I don't know if you read your comments or not. But I need to say thank you a million times over for writing this song! In a few days, it will be 6 months since by father passed away. This was the song that he and I would talk about. On the day of my dad's funeral, my brother and I sang your beautifully beloved written song. My dad and I always talked about how he loved the fact you took a simple him and changed it to focus on God taking away the chains and how my dad is free! My 'chain' was depression. Thirty-seven years. Praise His Holy Name, He broke the chains!! I gave my life to His care six months ago and it's been glorious! My daughter was recently diagnosed with depression. I'm so sad about this, but without His Love and Grace, I think I would have fallen back into the pit.
