  • OK Guys, its time to take a look at the incredible NHL entry draft of 2022, and the work that the Montreal Canadiens done early. They selected Juraj Slafkovsky with their first overall pick, and in this video I will give my initial reaction to this selection. I will also talk about the trades that took place, with essentially the Canadiens losing Alexander Romanov, to the Islanders, and in return getting Kirby Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks in a 3 way trade type deal.
    The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,
    Let me know whatcha think of this one down in the comment section!

    I’m gonna miss Romy and his thundering body checks. His play was vastly improved last season plus it looked like this guy genuinely loved playing for the Habs. Like you said, I hope Dach finally finds his game in Mtl. I don’t think I can take another flop like the Sergachev/Drouin trade.

    This MIGHT put ur mind at ease a little, a little i said! lol, They asked Slafkovsky the other day when he felt he made the leap to being the 1st overall selection, they asked was it a certain play, was it a certain moment, or time or whatever? Slafkovsky said when i got here (North America) and started skating on the smaller ice, I found it a lot easier to hit people, a lot easier to get to the net, just found it to be a much more suitable ice surface. He'd been playing on huge ice surface his whole life, and the smaller ice surface really helped his game. The Habs made the best move for the draft in my opinion, I hate losing Romanov, but i dont know if u remember, a while ago i was saying i wanted a power forward line! Well we got one now! Could be the pp line, or even a good pk line, Slafkovsky, Dach, and Anderson, that's 700 lbs of muscle out there on one line!! Imagine a team having to play against that for a 7 game series!!! I am super stoked that we got Slafkovsky, I guess time will tell who was the best pick, but i think they chose the right man for the job. Now to do something with Petry, Drouin, and Armia.

      the biggest problem I see is that the Habs basically got Slafkovsky+Dach instead of Wright + lekkerimaki/Kemmel/Nazar. I might even have to say Slaf > Wright, but there’s no way that I believe that the combination of Wright with one of those high end wingers wouldn’t be better than Slaf and Dach.

    Romanov hurt, his hits will be missed. But we have guys ready to fill that spot. And Dach is only 21 and shouldn't be to expensive to sign. Slafkovsky should be ready to play this year. Gamble yes. But for the price it's only gonna be under 1 mill for Slafkovsky and 2 to 3.5 for Dach is my guess. So under 5 million to fill 2 big holes in the line up.

    Great 👍 video 👍 junkie 👍, it was good seeing on the show ,I m actually quite pleased with the Habs moves . 😀 like you I ll miss Romanov, but we had to give up something to get Dach . And I hate to say we couldn't let Gule go or Harris from the left side ,so unfortunately it had to be Romanov, their trying to buy time Romanov was due an increase. So that puts that out of there . And remember Dach had a wrist injury, so that takes time to get back when your finesse with his shot . That can take some time to get back to normal from . He be fine. And I had a bad feeling there were things we didn't know about Wright s game . Three teams passed on him for a reason . I didn't like the work ethic issue s he had . Like you I was leaning towards Wright, but I wasn't so sure after a lot of reports started coming out about his work ethic, and there was film shown of him not making any effort to get back to help his team in the defensesive zone . That sent red flags up for me ,we ve had enough problems in that area ,don't need anymore. And with all that I know Hugh's, and Gorton did there homework. I trust their decision. They re very intelligent when it comes to the game . We lacked size ,and got a power forward that s going to leave Anderson in the dust. Dach gives us the center with size we needed which replace s needing Wright. As much as as top centers are scarce ,power forwards even more so . We definitely have a 1 st line now . He will insulate Caufield, and Suzuki. And he s got a nose for the net ,and can do the dirty work for that line ,plus he's got offensive skills to boot 👢 Next season is the draft to find an elite center if we need it . Much stronger draft next year . Believe me the Habs are moving in the right direction, speed ,and size with both these guys 👦, and the other Slovak kid we got on right wing ,has good offensive skills . It's looking good 👍 my bro 👌. And in a lot of the reports Wright s hit his peak ,theirs a much higher ceiling for Slovkosky. They project Slovkosky s ceiling may be reached in 2 to 3 years ,still allot of Peaking to go upward . Thats a great 👍 thing to hear. I was on the fence ,but I wasn't liking what I was hearing on Wright . I however thought the would pick Wright due to fan pressure. I m glad they went with the best player. 👌 And remember the Habs weren't the only team to figure that out ,evidently 3 other teams did as well ,thats why they passed on him. We have to remember these kids are all going to make mistakes getting use to n h l . Slovkosky s the only one out of the.three that is ready for the nhl as well. And if I were Seattle I ld send Wright to the.juniors another season ,i think it hurt his game missing that season prior to this year. I think he needs another season that may help him Excell his game more. He s needs that time back . So all s good 👍, but all of our kids are going to make mistakes, so that's the growing process in a rebuild. It's all good 👍 we ll be just fine 🙂

    How many complete games of Wright did you watch ? Probably not a lot. From what I saw he lacks the second and third effort that many times are the difference between a win or a loss. Not that he's not talented. He himself admitted that he needs to work on his grit. Also Susuki and Caufield totally deserve to have Montreal try to complete their line for the years to come. Still hope for the best to Wright in his development.

    What is it with Montreal and trading great defensive prospects on what ended up being bad returns. McDonagh for Gomez, Sergachev for Drouin, and now that multi move trade that basically ends up being Romanov for Dach. Hopefully, Dach ends up being a win in the end but I’m sceptical. I can’t believe Montréal passed on Wright. I hope Slafkovsky doesn’t end up being another Yakupov. Love all your content! Cheers from one Newfoundlander Habs fan to another!

    Chicago wanted more a 13 pick than their previous third pick, a big two way center. Something does seems right here.

    Agreed with you 100% on everything. No really, I'm not just saying that. I'm going to miss Romanov even though they have many prospects on D coming up and Dach has been a disappointment so far in Chicago. I know he's only 21 and that's what gives me hope but he was also picked 3rd overall. So yes, it's a gamble. Same goes for Slafkovsky. I liked what I see in highlight reels but can he sustain that offensive flair for the rest of his career? Let's hope so. I'm also disappointed because I really like Frank Nazar who looked like a poor man's Denis Savard on the ice in the highlight reels I watched. He was still available when Chicago picked him up with that 13th pick the Habs used to get Dach.. Brad Lambert was also available at the 26th spot and the Habs picked some guy I never heard of. As mentioned, I agreed with you on everything, including being an arm chair GM. So what do I know? But I was hoping to be happier at the end of the night. Now let's hope they have a good day 2 at the draft.

    Great video junkie. Romanov will be missed but we got many great d men coming up, xhekaj, barron, mailloux, guhld, etc. Happy to see what each dach will Bring. We are weak up the middle. Also we will see with slafkovsky, if he can be a good fit for Caulfield Suzuki line,

    This was an horrible night and very counter productive for montreal , the Slafkovski pick was fine but the rest was brutal
    They went on to acquire bust Dach and Mesar who isn’t a first rounder by any mean and they paid a 13, 66, 98 pick overall and Romanov
    Any way you look at it , this isn’t a win by a long shot, gross

      Romanov was not gonna have a spot on this defence in 2 years. The fact he played so many minutes is one of the main reasons we got the 1st oa...He was by far the most expendable piece with actual value MTL had for the draft. And Dach will have the same role wright would have had anyways. Is it a gamble...yes, but a very high upside one.

      Yeah this was one of the biggest disappointing drafts ive seen the Habs do. Dach at best is a 2C so again MTL with the same fucking problem of no 1C. And slaf prob be a 40-50 point player. Respectable but not even close to a 1OA.

    Dach and his 9 goals vs Romanovs 3.

    • @Tanmoy49
      @Tanmoy49 2 года назад +1

      Problem isn’t Dach vs Romanov. the biggest problem I see is that the Habs basically got Slafkovsky+Dach instead of Wright + lekkerimaki/Kemmel/Nazar. I might even have to say Slaf > Wright, but there’s no way that I believe that the combination of Wright with one of those high end wingers wouldn’t be better than Slaf and Dach.

    • @SmoothOperator2013
      @SmoothOperator2013 2 года назад

      @@Tanmoy49 They asked Slafkovsky the other day when he felt he made the leap to being the 1st overall selection, they asked was it a certain play, was it a certain moment, or time or whatever? Slafkovsky said when he got to North America and started skating on the smaller ice, he found it a lot easier to hit people, a lot easier to get to the net, just found it to be a much more suitable ice surface. Also 2 other Gm's passed on wright.

    • @Tanmoy49
      @Tanmoy49 2 года назад

      @@SmoothOperator2013 again, the question isn’t whether or not Slafkovsky is better than Wright. It’s whether or not Slafkovsky + Dach is better than Wright + either one of Lekkerimaki, Kemmel or Nazar (elite wingers they could’ve gotten with the 13th pick). And I think that Slaf might be better than Wright, but Dach is significantly worse than any of those 3 prospects.

      @@Tanmoy49 They said the only two draft picks that are NHL ready were Slafkovsky, and Nemec. I wanted Wright for a long time even during the season. I was saying fail for #1 to draft wright, then I saw an interview of him,(he was cocky and arrogant. He reminded me of the cancer Pacioretty). I also started comparing his play to Slafkovsky's. The size was a big turning point for me, and the play. The real question isn't who is better. It is who will be able to contribute in the NHL sooner. The answer is Slafkovsky and Dach.
