Also, he HAS won a Grammy before - as a featured artist w/ Outkast for "Whole World" many many years ago. This is his 4th grammy & first 3 for his solo material.

The way the law works in most states, is if the STATE decides to press charges, they will. A person doesn’t have to press charges on someone for a crime committed, when the crime was done in “broad daylight” and seen by a District Attorney or Prosecutor. In California, the decision to prosecute a case doesn't solely rest on whether the victim chooses to press charges. the state has the right to move forward regardless of the victim. The prosecutor is the only one who can decide if the charges should be dropped.

Law is law and no one person should be above that law. When a witnessed is committed there are laws in place for that. There is no "unless" or ambiguity. If there is then that is what the court system Judges and attornies that argue interpretation of the law. It is not up to the law enforcement to interpret the law.
