i guess were all around the same age (26-28) cuz i rember every single commercial once it hits. Damn! if the kids today only knew the wonderful feeling of a SATURDAY in the 90s .
Man everything was about being "cool" in the early 90s! It's cool to eat hot cereal. It's cool to label. It's cool to follow the rules. Cool glow in the dark dog tags...
We never got these anti drug PSA commercials in Canada. All we got here was "why be you when you can be me", "because I'm a girl", some boy being chased by a gang of crazed girls, one about helping your kids to express themselves creatively, another about why kids become bullies, and infamously, don't put it in your mouth.
I remember those "Gotta have my Pops" commercials...It's really bizarre that they always delve into the pathology of the person who NEEDS the cereal...It's like going to the mind of drug addict experiencing withdrawals. XD
Especially ironic considering it follows an anti-drug ad. In retrospect, a lot of ads used the language of drugs for inconspicuous products while telling you cannabis would ruin your life. It's like they were saying, "don't use those drugs, use OUR drugs instead!"
The anti-drug ads here are targeted at children and middle schoolers, who I think most rational people agree should probably not be imbibing in cannabis. There are zero ads for any other kind of drug or substance here. Your argument is fallacious.
Yeah I worked in a store that sold tons of candy around this time, and I don't remember the 'Pull N Peel' Twizzlers at all. It's entirely possible it wasn't marketed in my city.
7:46--I'm just glad they didn't call it "licorice." Licorice is a plant extract used as a flavoring, and only the black ones (which have that flavor) should rightfully be called that.
I love the promos and some commercials that used to air on Saturday mornings. and there are some network bumpers that are cool, and some that would look scary to me. don't ask me why, it just does.
1:38 and 7:16--The Nestle Quik (it's still around, but now called Nesquik) bunny is an advertising icon. 2:08--Those cheesy ranch and taco ranch salad dressings look interesting. 2:38--"Leggo my Eggo" is an iconic advertising slogan. I was a young adult when these spots aired, but when i was a kid I wondered what the connection was between Eggo waffles and Lego toys! 3:50--By this time it was considered taboo to use the word "sugar" in the name of a cereal. When I was a kid they were called "Sugar Corn Pops," and I think they were originally just "Sugar Pops."
I'm not quite sure why labeling things was such a big deal back. then. I want some Hidden Treasures cereal. We don't get cool stuff like that these days!
So there are people who recorded possibly all the 90's commercials and they are upload them to RUclips. Do you need more proof that the Internet is the best invention ever?
I meant to thank you and tell you it's a great thing but I accidently deleted that part of the comment before I made it and didn't even realize it. Allow me please to correct this mistake and say it now. Anyway thank you so much for this. It's great that there are people like you who do this to the others. Does this takes a lot of time to make? I would honestly invite you to a beer but I have a feeling that you aren't living in Ontario.
After these messages... we'll be riiight back.
Has been stuck in my head for a solid week.
Ah crapper!
I had it out of my head... and then a fine soul decided to like the post.

Oddly, I remember every one of these commercials.
I saw that first Quik commercial thousands of times in the 90's. It's ingrained in my mind.
The voice actor for the rabbit also voiced Donatello in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 🐀🐢🐢🐢🐢🥷
greatest time ever when there was no social media
Man, I remember every commercial here. I watched way too much TV as a teen!
i guess were all around the same age (26-28) cuz i rember every single commercial once it hits. Damn! if the kids today only knew the wonderful feeling of a SATURDAY in the 90s .

"IT'S VERY COOL TO FOLLOW THE RULES" *facepalm* that commercial singlehandedly probably caused more bus driver quittings... lol
Man oh man I remember the weird ranch dressings. I remember getting the pizza one. It was super odd but hey it got me to eat salad more lol

Dule Hill in the Corn Pops commercial. Future co-star of The West Wing.
when were we so obsessed with "COOL!" and "HOT!"
After Uncle Freddy put on that fancy helmet, I fully expected him to announce it was 'very expensive' a la Mr. Dink.
Why do I still find that 90s hairstyles on guys attractive? 😆 I want to tell my boyfriend to grow his hair and style it that way 😂
I forgot how much cereal was such a big part of the advertising world
"Tales From The Cryptkeeper" wasn't a Halloween special, it aired year round.
That taco ranch dressing was soooooooo good lol
I remember those "Gotta have my Pops" commercials...It's really bizarre that they always delve into the pathology of the person who NEEDS the cereal...It's like going to the mind of drug addict experiencing withdrawals. XD

I have a sudden strong craving for cereal.
The pot commercial is kind scary
"I gotta' have my pops! Duuuhhh duummm."

It's kinda fucked up how I actually remember this stuff. I watched way too much TV as a kid.
But it was fun back then. Now not so much.
I'm not quite sure why labeling things was such a big deal back. then. I want some Hidden Treasures cereal. We don't get cool stuff like that these days!

Uncle Freddy is dead. Lmao
So there are people who recorded possibly all the 90's commercials and they are upload them to RUclips.

Thank the people like me who choose to do this, not the technology that allows us to do it.
