  • G'day all!
Bet you weren't expecting a double special from the John Wilson Archive, in the one week did you? Even so; I thought this would be a great opportunity to post some videos whilst other things are still currently being worked on and won't be ready for some time yet.
In today's massive 50 minute long special; we dive into a full compilation of the John Wilson Archive; throughout May, 1986. Travelling to a vast number of popular enthusiast locations such as Bacchus Marsh, Dynon, Spencer St, Long Island; and Baxter bank. With tons of rail action both passenger and freight; and quite the vast variety of things to watch; just sit back and enjoy the ride!
Don't forget to leave a like and subscribe for more videos; and also to check out my Facebook page where I post a variety of photos; both John's and My very own.

Fantastic video mate, love the X's, A's, B's, S's on the freights and passes, and also love the views around the original Spencer Street

The Overland has shrunk in size since those days! Cracking collection of Victorian trains before they were sold off, and ruined, a wonder Jeff Kennett didn't sell off Hawthorn footy club to the Americans as well... A shed shift at Dynon back then wouldn't have been a "bludge" day either.

Great exposure of days long gone. The most noticeable feature about May 1986 was that, apart from the two brand new G class locos seen, there was a distinct appearance of neglect in the cleanliness of locos and rolling stock. Also not a single 'party frock' (PPE vest) in sight. Some work practices seen wouldn't pass today's safety pub test. I'll leave it for others to comment on specifics. Of historical interest, the very first train was the dedicated TNT Contrans 'Jet' with the 80 footers and a limited length for expedited service between Adelaide and Melbourne. Thanks for the memories.
