He's so awesome that he makes my stomach hurt. This song uses almost the exact same chord progression as 9 Crimes, in the exact same key, and yet it evokes such a different degree of emotion. He is a truly great songwriter and musician, and despite the fact that most of his songs literally make my heart ache, he's like a beacon of hope in this age where real music is lost among the musings of horny twenty-somethings looking for their next party so they can get drunk and write more crappy songs.

Could not agree with you more. This is by far my favourite version of Rootless Tree, but there is something about that tiny alteration to the lines in the other version that just cuts deep to the core.
