- La Belle Dame Sans Merci - Directed by Hidetoshi Oneda
Based on John Keats' poem:
O what can ail thee, knight-at-arms,
Alone and palely loitering?
The sedge has withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.
O what can ail thee, knight-at-arms,
So haggard and so woe-begone?
The squirrel's granary is full,
And the harvest's done.
I see a lily on thy brow,
With anguish moist and fever-dew,
And on thy cheeks a fading rose
Fast withereth too.
I met a lady in the meads,
Full beautiful-a faery's child,
Her hair was long, her foot was light,
And her eyes were wild.
I made a garland for her head,
And bracelets too, and fragrant zone;
She looked at me as she did love,
And made sweet moan.
I set her on my pacing steed,
And nothing else saw all day long,
For sidelong would she bend, and sing
A faery's song.
She found me roots of relish sweet,
And honey wild, and manna-dew,
And sure in language strange she said-
'I love thee true'.
She took me to her elfin grot,
And there she wept and sighed full sore,
And there I shut her wild wild eyes
With kisses four.
And there she lulled me asleep,
And there I dreamed-Ah! woe betide!-
The latest dream I ever dreamt
On the cold hill side.
I saw pale kings and princes too,
Pale warriors, death-pale were they all;
They cried-'La Belle Dame sans Merci
Thee hath in thrall!'
I saw their starved lips in the gloam,
With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke and found me here,
On the cold hill's side.
And this is why I sojourn here,
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.

It's not only so beautiful, so amazing but also so imaginative poem.Great J.K.😘😘
Oh, this is something too beautiful, romantic, passionate and heavenly to ever appear in this urbane world. Great, just too great.
BRAVO!!!!! my favorite poem ...to choose the lady and love or the footsteps of men 👏👏👏
The poem is so imaginative but this work adds a lot of creativity to make this poem more alluring . Beautiful work 👏👏👏👏
Excellent rendition, the best I've seen!
I loved this, so much beauty and pain, as love is both... Well, true love...
Please people read the poem by John Keats and don't rely on how this film interpreted at the end saying that the old man didn't love the spectral fairy lady enough and that means you must follow her even if it means your full destruction. I know this short film is using the fairy lady as a metaphor for following your destiny but it just didn't work out for me because I am well acquainted with the haunting truth of the original poem which is the transitory nature of romantic love and romantic beauty.
p.s.
That is not to say that I don't appreciate this short film. I do. And I do believe that one can take a classic poem such as this one and kind of change the narrative in their own creative way and give a different take or interpretation of it. On viewing this a second time I appreciate it alittle more. The original poem by John Keats more focuses on the illusionary and trance-like nature of romantic love and romantic beauty.
Very well put ...this is one of my favorites from john keats absolutley beautiful... it means something else to me, but i feal the short film was very well done and a wonderful interpretation of what they felt
Gave goosebumps... That equal to feeling sublime.... Amazing job
Really...so passionate, amaging, loving....we may feel the poem as well as the truth about some people....how they make you feel that they are yours...bt in the end....it happens...by the way....it's an awesome poem...by John Keats...My favourite poet....

Can someone explain the poem?
Is she an evil or a fairy?
Starting in this poem she described as a fairy.....
But in reality she was devil....who attract everybody and cought them.....😗😗😗
Neither she is a evil nor fairy she was a beauty only a trap with no scape and no mercy.
We can say she was a beauty trap with evil spirit!!
